Difference between manga and anime?

Is there a difference between manga and anime? How would I be able to tell them apart? They all look the same to me.

Uhh... it is pretty easy.. as manga are basically comic books, and anime is animated videos. So if you hold it in your hands and read it while turning pages it's manga, if you watch it on your tv it's anime.

Oh, cause from what I've read on the boards, people saying they liked the manga beter than the anime, I thought it was a different style of animation. But good to know the true meaning, thanks.

manga and anime there is a difference

manga usually is more detailed and has extra details than anime but anime expands on a detail..

Manga continues even after the anime finishes..

Most of the time the manga appears first in japan and if it gets popular enough they will make an animated version (thus an anime) of it.
In many cases the manga is better than the anime because it has alot more details and a better worked out story. However there are anime that completely change the story presented in the manga or they add characters/events/... In those cases it is hard to compare anime and manga, it's more of a personal preference.

More recently there have been alot of anime based on ero-games, and there are also cases where the anime comes first and a manga based upon i come afetr but most of the time it's the other way around.

...and then there are those black sheep multimedia franchises (Di Gi Charat, Aquarian Age, Galaxy Angel, .hack...) where the anime, manga, and games are part of one sequential story
