A interesting reading even if the author have, at the end, too much fate on the elector's memory or understanding.

I find the whole coverage of Casey Antony trial quite disgusting. People should mind their own business, specially the media who loves seeking a good side show to raise ratings, in turn making people a little more ignorant of the world we live in because they chose to cover useless stories.
The media in the US is so damn disgusting that they don't even realize they are the ones creating big problems where non exists and making the lives of those involved complete hell. This case and the coverage of Senator Wiener's scandal are one of the most appalling things I have seen from the media. Cnn is specially to blame here, that news organization is mainly interested in sensationalism and little substance. Most of their news stories revolve around drama in some shape or form. At least MSNBC spends most of its time discussing national politics (which is kinda useless as well), which is what they advertise, but Cnn is becoming as disgusting as fox news in its own right. |

A jury cannot take into account the views of the media, and in fact are often sequestered so they can not see such media portayals that may bias them. Don't judge em too hard. They are likely seeing things you haven't, and have a completely different outlook on the case.

It doesn't matter if the Jury isn't influenced by the media (I doubt it anyway) the people who watch the media are, and they live around those involved in the case. The lives of Casey and their family are now much worse thanks to the media.
While Fox News spends its time cooking up conspiracies, faking news, and mobilizing highly ideological far right groups, Cnn uses most of its time "entertaining" the public with reality TV soap operas. Both Cnn and Fox news viewers get little to none significant info about the world they live in, therefore diminishing, even if it is in a small way, their critical thinking capabilities. Oh wait... isn't this the best way to control masses? |

Well, I don't live in the US, so I don't know much about it.
Reading a bit I think the Jury made the correct verdict as she was not guilty "beyond all reasonable doubt". The evidence was very murky, too murky for sentence. She could easily have been innocent. Though it is a very strange case, there's nothing to absolutely prove she did anything. |

What was stupid was the enormous amount of energy wasted covering a local trial that was purely a distraction from stories that ACTUALLY affected the viewers. But as we know that is what Fox, MSNBC, CNN, and the corporate media does... because its cheap, easy, voyeuristic, and distracts.

When Ted Turner started CNN there was no staff. It relied entirely on local news stations to provide its content. CNN in 1979 consisted largely of police calls and fires because that what their local news affiliates had available. As CNN itself started to develop, CNN Headline News became the outlet for police and fire stories.
Outside of NPR, and to a limited degree PBS, radio and television news in America is largely tabloid in nature, though at least they don't "hack" into the phone messages of kidnapped children.

This is hilarious, right at this time there is a huge Dust storm nearing Phoenix AZ which will wreak havoc if it reaches the city. The weather channel is reporting on it. Yet if you watch any of the 3 news channels they are covering the Casey Antony case instead...
