S&S all the way. There's just something wrong with the weapon animations for two-handed in my opinion.

For masochists like me, I'm doing an archer right now WITHOUT sneak. That's right, just pure run and gun. Spray and pray. Oh, and no Eagle Eye perks either. Real time. All the time. I'm gonna end up deleting him.

A few characters I'm using, (these are screens from early in their gametime):
Orc, shaman sort (fighter/healer). Name is Flower because the tribe always saw her picking flowers since she was little.

I was thinking of Bennie from the comic "Looking For Group" but with a dollop of WoW shaman class styling.
She's pretty friendly but wary of non-orcs.

Also a dark elf assassin named Icicle, dual-wield with snipey archering:

Anything for money... killing Nords, especially the ones in that nasty elf-hating city... might as well bring their nightmares to life.

And yes, the assassin wears much more sophisticated armor now

Quite true... but the Forsworn stuff is fun to wear for the early levels, it being "magical armor with higher stats and more skin".

With smithing and light armour you can get the Forsworn armour to reach the armour cap.

True... but it just seems more fitting to me to use it as "early gear" and move to something more refined... at least that's what the dark elf is doing. I might leave the orc shamaness in her "country attitudes"

I have more advanced characters (a elven archer and a human necromancer)... I have the same problem in MMOs - I bounce around from character to character because its fun to see how the characters radically different builds affects gameplay.

In addition, there's a quest that gives you a reward of a permanent buff of 25% armor bonus when wearing full Dwarven armor... But it's currently bugged so it gives any full set 25% armor bonus

What quest? And what is the name of this skimpy light armor (from Vexx's screenshot)? I'd like to acquire it.

So I joined the thieves guild and got to the point where I can sell stolen things to a thieves guild member. But it hurt my reputation in Riften. Can I still build a good reputation in Riften from here? I don't think I care about the thieves guild quests. I just wanted fence. I'd like to help Mjoll the Lioness, and I think I read that to help her, you need to have a good standing with Riften.

Reputation is nothing you need to worry about in this game. Just do odd jobs and side quests for as many NPCs in town that you can. You really have to do horrible things to someone to make them hate you.

As the head of the Thieves Guild, I don't seem to have problem talking to anyone. I guess it is because I have never had a bounty.

That's the Forsworn Armor. Just steal from/kill any Forsworn. Note that you have to have certain perks to steal armor from NPCs.

I've also got a couple of nexus mods that improve armor texture/pattern and remove the Forsworn feathers that give good results without being tacky/crude. Some of the mods I've come across for armor are just stupid (in a 12yr old's porn sort of way). You've also got to be careful that the mods mesh well so you don't get anatomical disasters between clothing and body.

I guess I could post my favorite mods from the Nexus site... off to shopping for New Year's Dinner components of o-zōni (雑煮) first though.

You'll get it from an erratic Argonian named "From-Deepest-Fathoms" in Riften, I found her wandering the docks. The name of the quest is [Unfathomable Depths] and your job is to return a Lexicon back to where it belongs.

...Sounds simple enough right ?

P.S - Oh I almost forgot, Blacksmithing skill increases 15% faster as well with that buff.

I have decided that my Nord needs to delve into some Illusion magic to help when she is fighting a number of enemies at once (the only weapon she is very good at is bow and arrow, so fighting three or more enemies at once gets tough). First of all, would Illusion magic prove very useful for someone who uses archery as their only way of fighting? I read somewhere someone saying it helped them with calm, fear, and frenzy spells.

Now, onto an important question. Some perks I want to gain sooner than later (I'm level 19 now) are illusion spells working on higher level animals and illusion spells working on higher level people. What are considered higher level animals and people, though? So I'm at level 19 now. Do feral animals and people who are enemies (i.e. not townsfolk) have their levels scale to yours? I'd like to know so I know how soon to level up my Illusion skills (to cover both perks) and how soon I should allocate those perks.

Are Dragons considered high level animals?

Places you haven't met would have enemies scale to you, but weaker enemies and animals have a level cap. Dragons, the randomly spawn nameless ones, supposedly cap at level 50 max. (And in general nothing else nameless goes higher than 50.)

Frankly, if you want to use illusion as your main tool, I advise you to max it ASAP. Perk points are slower to get later on, it is best that your main skills are maxed quickly so that you wont get stuck unable to affect monsters.

In general, if you are level 30 then make sure you can affect level 30 enemies. And so on.

Once you get all the right perks for illusion, you should be able to overpower everyone.
Read the link to find out exactly what each perk do.

Animage Illusion spells now work on higher level animals (+8 levels to the spell maximum).

Kindred Mage All Illusion spells work on higher level people (+10 levels to the spell maximum).

Looks like it is too late for me to get into Illusion spells. By the time I level up enough to get the perks I want and level up the skill, enemies will be or almost be higher than the effectiveness of Adept spells. I'd need to focus heavily on this until I was at Expert level. I'd have to pour lots of money into training, spend time casting the spells to level up, and allocate perk points with every level up for six level ups to get to where I want, and it wouldn't be worth it.

I just need to make it so that when I am fighting three or more opponents at once, it is manageable. Any recommendations? The bow and arrows doesn't work well when I'm being attacked by three or more people. Should I level up block and one-handed? I have three perks in two perks in one-handed. I don't need to level up the whole tree for both block and one-handed, just the perks that suit me. I'm going with daggers, so I'll upgrade the 3 level blade specific skill tree star for bonus damage (as opposed to the one for axes and the one for maces) and I'll get Savage Strike (I think that is the one I want).

Any other recommendations for handling multiple foes at once? The Bow is working for me, other than taking on a few or more enemies.

Three perks in two perks? Not sure what you mean by that. Unless you meant 3 points invested into two of the perks.

Daggers don't benefit from all the one-handed perks. The only ones which affect it are the Armsman (Rank 1-5 damage increase), Dual Flurry (oddly enough, this does not affect when you use both daggers at once for a power attack, although it does for other one handed weapons), Dual Savagery, Savage Strike, Fighting Stance and Critical Charge. Bladesman (the sword perks) do NOT trigger with daggers.

If you're also going for Block, I would suggest the entire left hand side of the tree, along with Quick Reflexes. Passive 50% elemental resistances is too useful to ignore, especially when you're fighting mages. Deflect Arrows is a hit or miss perk, as it only activates when arrows hit your shield. If you take an arrow to the knee or something (yes I went there with the arrow joke), you still take the damage and the perk won't activate.
But really, it's the last two perks I really suggest you take if you're using shields. Block Runner gives you the mobility you need to flank multiple enemies and gives you the ability to close the distance between you and mages while retaining the passive 50% resistance. And Shield Charge gives you amazing crowd control and the lulz factor as the enemies go flying like in Power Rangers. Only downside is that Block Runner and Shield Charge are 70 and 100 skill points, respectively.

If that's a hassle for you, you can invest in Conjuration and summon followers. Or use a NPC follower. There are also a few weapons such as the Sanguine Rose which summons followers to fight for you. Just dip out of sight for a bit so that they draw aggro and then wail away from a distance.

Edit:
There's a two handed perk which makes it so that sideways power attacks hit multiple enemies at once, making two handed one of the better trees for crowd control. Especially if you manage to find a two handed weapon with a paralysis enchantment.

Edit: 2
Two handed is also compatible with all the block perks except Deflect Arrows, Elemental Protection and Shield Charge.

Edit 3:
An easy way to level block is to find giants and shield bash them repeatedly. Shield Bash again when they leave the staggered animation. Just save before you do this if they still 1 or 2hko you.

Yeah, there was a typo about the 3 perk in 2 perk thing.

So, I will go with putting perks into one-handed, upping the amount of damage that they do. I will put perks into maces, and use them for when melee fights with multiple enemies happen. The perks are better for it than for swords. So, a good way to level up both one-handed and block is to learn some low level conjuration and attack and fight the monster you summon? Also, you can attack essential NPCs that don't die, right? Who are some NPCs I can attack that are essential NPCs?

Soooooooo, got around to picking up Skyrim. Played probably 10-15 hours into it... still don't see what everyone's raving on about. It's an alright game, it's just not.... like.... greatest game ever.

ANYWAY, defeated my 2nd Dragon today.... get's REAL annoying when they keep flying off. I use the Sword/Shield combo, but lately I've just been using the Quickbow of Stamina Damage or something along those lines, everything keeps dying off before they get close enough for the Sword/Shield attacks~
