I was just testing the game skipping the text then at a certain point this message appears...
Is it because the name of the mp3 is in japanese?
Is there any way to solve it?
It might help people to identify it if you set your computer to display Japanese rather than random crap.

the problem is that I don't have the windows CD to do it

maybe I'll have to hack into it and change the name of the files from the calls...

Out of interest, why are you installing the game?

Do you realise that you need your computer to be in Japanese mode for the patch?

Are you talking about the English patch?
Why is it? The Japanese chars are normal inside the game...
Everything normal... except for the windows menus...

If so...
I'm screwed...

(the problem I had was in the middle of the game)

You need to do the regional and language options, and set the user locale to Japanese. I don't remember ever needing the XP CD when I did that, but then I already had various forms of Japanese support installed.

Just found this handy program.
AppLocale
Basically it will run Higurashi (or any Japanese based programs) in it's native mode without you having to switch your regional settings to Japanese.

I need some help here. Well, I finally got my gant on Minagoroshi-hen. So, in the game there is the first 3 Answer Arcs, but I can only play the first one(Meakashi-hen).

How can I play Minagoroshi-hen?

On the title screen:
Omake > should be the only available option (it says 'Scenario Lock' in katakana). Choose it, and you'll get a list of chapters. Choose the bottom one. Click through the next few screens, then you'll be back to the title screen. Choose 'start' and voila, there they all are

For the PS2 gamers...

Looks like fun. I hope the PS3 is reverse compatable in its region-freeness.

Are there any "screamer scenes" other than the ones in Watanagashi-hen?

That one isn't the one from Watanagashi, but it's still creepy. The one from Watanagashi was on the anime webpage, or at least it was a while ago.

That isn't the picture that was used in the game. There is no mouth on the actual picture used in the game, and the eyes were much more thinner.

Here's a scene with it in it. The audio is taken from the more accurate drama CD.
