It's the last night the cadets of Class G are spending at Lanseal, and to celebrate the end of the war they decide to throw a party. (Cliche, I know.) Of course, said party includes an alcoholic punch bowl, which turns out to make the party rather interesting for some. (Do whatever you want here for comedy. )

As the cadets are turning in, however, Avan is forced to carry Cosette back to her room, as she's a bit too tipsy to make it on her own. As he's about to leave her room, though, Cosette seemingly sobers up enough to confront Avan on his decision to leave and travel Gallia. As it turns out, Cosette doesn't want Avan to leave because she loves him, and says he's being unfair to her by leaving her, even though she understands his reasons.

When Avan says that Cosette still means the world to him, Cosette asks him to prove those words. Specifically, she asks him to "make a woman" out of her, as she feels that she is still just a little girl despite her experiences in the war.

Cue romantic sex scene. Try not to make it go by too fast.

Cosette wakes up the next morning to find Avan has already left, but she is content with the idea that he truly loves her (especially after the previous night's experience).

IMO, something like this should've been done in the game (perhaps not the sex, but you get what I mean).

Anyone want to give it a shot?

If the end product of this great idea sees daylight, I'd wait for the writer to send a PM.

As Beri wrote, you could take a shot since you seem to know a lot more about the VC2 storyline than most of us do.

To my knowledge, not yet. It's not like the VC world doesn't have its analogues of folks like Shepherd and Makarov, after all... and whatever else you might criticize the MW dev teams for, they do deliver in terms of 'Oh sh-!' moments (and others that demonstrate various sorts of bad-assery).

Of course, there's also the BF: Bad Company fusion idea that surfaced a ways back...

Well I'm getting pretty keen of writing the Valkyria Chronicles story as if it were in a more modern era world.

Nearly finished my current play through so when I replay with the complete data I'll start taking notes towards a fan fiction.

Been thinking a bit about it lately, however I'm still struggling to think of what Isara's wish could be given aircraft have already been developed.

Probably the closest to a Modern Warfare-Styled fanfic that you'll see are a couple by DC20 on FF net.

There's a lot that can be gleaned from conversations with Kreis and Leon about the world. Invent vs. innovate. But if you were to cross-over with modern warfare and maintain the same cast of characters, I have a recommendation for some inspiration without changing Isara's construction of an aeroplane. Have you ever seen the film "Fly Away Home?"

I love "Fly Away Home" (Don't tell anybody). Truth be told, I actually like that kind of idea for Isara's dream better -- it doesn't have to be anything revolutionary. In a lot of ways I think smaller scale (with less impact outside of herself) is more interesting. She doesn't have to change the world with her dream, it just has to be important to her. I think the dream was more important on a character level than it was on a world level, at least as far as the game is concerned. Or she could always build Gallia's first spaceship. Knowing how stupidly ridiculous Modern Warfare gets I wouldn't be surprised...

Thanks for the nod, Beri. I will note though that if you're looking for a strict "Modern Warfare" fic you're still out of luck. You won't see any modern superpowers duking it out. Actual combat and interactions follow a more modern approach to warfare, though. The closest you'll find is probably "The Lily of the Field, The Bird of the Air", which is a thinly veiled VC version of Afghanistan. Technically still takes place in the 1935 war, but uses modern setups instead of WWII type combat, and sets up an insurgency within Barious by the native population against the Gallian government. No Imperials, if that's what you're looking for though. Stars everybody's favorite Shocktrooper (well, at least mine).

I'll most likely finish VC tonight so I'll get out the notepad and start jotting down ideas. I don't want to go word for word as some things will need reimagining for the current times and I'd like to flesh a few things out.

Sorry about my long, long absence. I honestly wish I had a better excuse... but I don't :P

Spoiler for sad excuse= I have no life...:

It's all SKYRIM's fault. You just lose ALL track of time and honeslty, it doesn't feel like an hour or even a day has passed, then you look outside or at your watch and realize the days gone.

*Or in my case, the suns rising, cuz I usually sleep all day, thanks to my job that starts late afternoon, then afterwards I play Skyrim till 5:30 A.M., sleep all day, repeat*

But I think after 200+ hours... I'm pretty much done with it... I also have 200+ hours for Valkyria Chronicles on my console... but that's after years of playing... Sad to say, my 200+ hours for Skyrim were attained in less than 2 months

But, I'll make up for it with quantity, I hope, of previews for all the fanfics I have accumulated up till now. The Morris+Coleen one, the Franca+Nichol one, the Noel+susie one and my new Zeri+Juliana+Melissa one.

It's just before the major Daaawww! Moment though... I had hope to reach that point... but I'm tired and gonna hit the sack after I get this part up.

Spoiler for Coleen+Morris preview #2:

“NO!!” Cosette screamed, “Morris! Coleen!” she screamed as she watched both of them go over.

Noments later, the avalanche was over, and entire mountainside had been swept clean. Everything in its path was pummelled over, such as trees, rocks which were now covered, and even… tanks, armour and human bodies, all helpless to hold against the colossal power of one of mother natures greatest powers; An Avalanche.

Still, some of the Class G students were screaming and shouting down towards the mountains and valleys below; “COLEEN~!!” MORISS~!!” Those being Avan, Cosette and all of the classes closest friends.

Even so, Zeri--one of the smartest in the class--grabbed Avan by the shoulder and pulled him back so hard he fell into the snow onto his back. He then held a finger up to his lips, “Shush!” He urged, “Any further shouting could bring on another avalanche, with us in its path!”

“What are we supposed to do?” Cosette asked hysterically, ignoring Zeri‘s warning,“Are supposed to assume that they’re dead and all hope is lost?”

Zeri sighed loudly, “You saw how powerful that avalanche was… it wiped out an entire company of soldiers and all their armoured units. Frankly, the odds of survival are--”

“NO!” Avan shouted as he stood back up, “I saw it and I know you saw it Zeri! Morris and Coleen went over the edge before the avalanche hit them!”

Coleen pounded a fist into her palm, “You’re right, Avan!” Cosette replied happily, “M-maybe they didn’t get hit by it at all… Maybe they’re somewhere further down the cliff… o-on a ledge… or a cave or something!”

Zeri, meanwhile, was looking over the edge of the cliff, “I don’t know about that… if there were ledges or cut outs they’ve been covered up by the snow from the avalanche.” said as he looked over his shoulder, “And I don’t see a way down in either direction.”

Cosette and Avan were rubbing their chins and looking down at the ground as they thought about what to do, and in perfect unison, they looked up and into each others eyes.

“We need someone who knows this area!” Avan said.

“A guide!” Cosette added.

“From the village!” They said together. They then turned to the rest of the squad members, “Come on guys! We have to get back to the village as quick as possible!”

Everyone cheered and they all followed Cosette and Avan as they charged ahead of the pack to get some help in finding a way down from someone who knew the area.

Moments later, Morris’s eyes began to flutter open. His back felt icy cold and slightly sore as it slide across an icy, snowy surface. And as he looked up at the icy ceiling with icicles hanging from it, he saw it moving, and as his other senses came back to him he heard a girl grunting. He lifted his head and looked towards his feet and saw Coleen holding him by the ankles, dragging him further into the icy cave that they were now inside.

“Oh, Morris! You’re awake! Thank goodness!” Coleen said happily as she let him go and ran up to kneel next to him and embraced him in a hug.

Morris moaned and held a hand to his head, “Oh… what happened?”

“You don’t remember?”

Morris shook his head, “I don’t know how far we fell… but we landed on the very edge of a ledge in the cliff side. I was dazed for a moment, then felt you grab me and throw me into this cave… then you got hit by the avalanche as it spilled over the cliff.” Coleen explained, “You took a hit to the head by either a rock or a chunk of ice and fell unconscious. It’s a miracle I was able to grab a hold of your feet and drag you inside before…”

“Before what?” Morris asked as he managed to finally sit up.

Coleen didn’t answer, she simply looked to the other side of the cave. Now Morris looked over his shoulder and saw that the entire entrance had been covered the massive amount of snow and ice blocks from the avalanche. A few stray blocks of ice and snow feel from higher up and clanked against the icy ground.

Morris sighed and tried to stand up, but winced and cried out in pain. His right knee hurt and felt swollen.

“I’m so sorry!” Coleen apologized, “I should have warned you about your other injury! It must have been from the fall or getting hit by another chunk of ice as you lay on your back after getting hit on the head.”

“So what now?” Morris asked.

Coleen swallowed hard, “I-I don’t know… I was hoping you would know what to do…”

Morris scoffed, “What makes you think I have any idea!?” Morris said in frustration, “It’s not like I planned any of this… All I wanted to do was to keep you and all the others in the squad safe from harm. I was ready to die in that avalanche to do so! Then you had to come along and get stuck in this situation with me, when I have NO idea what to do anymore!”

Coleen then slapped Morris, hard, ending his angry rant, “Stop it!” She screeched, “All these decisions you been making… have been made without taking me in the slightest consideration!!

Wanting to break up with me just because my parents didn’t like you at first glance! Wanting to leave the school because you couldn’t stand the way that you felt you were letting everyone down! And running off to die in the avalanche you created… You’ve never thought about me and what I wanted.”

Morris looked off to the side, “What do you want?”

“I want you to believe that no matter what decision you make… I’ll go along with it… So I can be with you, Morris.” Coleen said with tears welling up in her eyes, “I’m old enough to move out of my parents house, then I won’t have to follow their orders or rules anymore. If you want to leave the school, then fine. I’ll resign as well. And… I know you were ready to sacrifice yourself for me and the others… but I wasn’t ready to let you go. Not now, not ever!

If nothing else… know this… wherever you go, I go… whether it be in life… or death… I’ll go with you without a moments pause.”

Morris was choking on sobs that were getting caught in his throat and tears were already falling from his eyes. He pulled Coleen towards him and hugged her tight, “I’m sorry…”

Coleen nuzzled her cheek against his, “It’s alright… And we’ll get through this Morris… somehow.”

Morris rubbed his eyes with the back of his sleeve and sniffled loudly, “Yes, we will. So lets begin, right now!” he said with confidence in his voice and a beaming smile.

And with some help from Coleen, he got back onto his feet and she wrapped his arm over her shoulders and together, they begin to search throughout the cave for another way out. And after only a few minutes, they found a small tunnel that slopped slightly downwards… even more encouraging… was the fast that there were logs bundled together with rope in what look like a staircase. Whether new or old… there were signs that others had been here and that could only mean that further down this tunnel had to be an exit!

Sometime later, Avan and the others had arrived back at the village and they were heading to the squads tent where the radio and the villages survivors were being treated. And even before they could start looking for a guide, Rene ran up to Avan and grabbed him by the arm.

“Thank goodness you’re all back!” she said in relief, she then looked over Avan’s shoulders, “Where’s Coleen? Her father’s on the radio and has been demanding to speak with her since you left. And he’s been driving us absolutely crazy!!”

“How did a civilian managed to get on a military radio?” Cosette asked curiously.

Rene rolled her eyes, “He’s filthy rich and has a lot of sway with the academy due to his families ‘generous’ donations.” Her eyebrows then furrowed angrily, “I don’t care how much money or power that old man has! If he continues to shout at Magari through the radio, then I’m gonna--”

Avan placed his hand on Rene’s shoulder and looked her in the eyes, “Rene… Coleen and Morris were caught in an avalanche, a few miles back that way.” Avan said as he tilted his head backwards.

Rene gasped and cupped her hands over her mouth, “Oh no!”

“I guess it’s only responsible that we inform them of the situation,” Avan said to Cosette and Zeri. He then moved past Rene, but not before patting her on the shoulder and then made his way towards the radio.

Even though they were still some ways off, they could hear Magari desperately trying to calm the shouting man down.

“Where is my daughter!” a angry mans voice shouted through the speakers, actually causing some ear splitting feedback to screech out aloud. “I was told that the battle had ended hours ago! So get my daughter on the line, right now!”

Magari was rubbing the side of her head with on hand, holding on the microphone with the other and looked completely warn out, “I’ll say it again, sir… We do not know where Coleen is at the moment, but she made it through the battle unharmed and we’ve got people out looking for her at this very moment. When we know something, we’ll--”

“Not good enough!” Coleen’s father shouted back, “Send more people out to find her! Go yourself if you have to, but just get my daughter on the line! Now!”

Avan patted Cosette on the arm, “Can you believe this man is the father of someone as sweet and caring as Coleen?”

“Not unless I witnessed this for myself…”

Avan then approached Magari, who had set the microphone down and was rubbing both sides of her temples with her fingertips. “I’ll take it from here, Magari.” Avan said with a smile.

“Thanks! Thank you so much!!” Magari said as she took her earphones off and handed them to Avan. She then ran to Rene and hugged her tight, wanting comfort from a close friend after getting yelled at for who knows how long.

Avan swallowed nervously, then pressed the talk button, “Sir, this is Avan Hardins, leader and class chair of class G. I’m sorry to have to report that your daughter was caught in an avalanche a few minutes ago. Don’t be alarmed, we don’t know for sure that--”

“What!? My poor baby girl was caught in a what!?”

“An avalanche, sir. We’re preparing to go back out and search for her this very moment. But don’t worry, she’s with Morris Lling when it happened. So I’m she she’s perfectly safe and--”

“What!? She’s with that weak, pathetic excuse for a soldier!?” It then sounded like the mic was dropped on the other end and Coleen’s father was shouting hysterically in the background. Avan looked back at Magari and shook his head at her, feeling so very sorry that she had to put up with this for so long while he and the others were gone.

Suddenly a calmer female voice came on the other end of the radio, “This is Coleen’s mother, I heard about what had happened. So I’m offering a substantial reward of 10,000 ducats for any of the local villagers who bring our daughter back safe and sound. They know the area from living there, I‘m sure of it.”

One of the Darcsen village elders approached and Avan handed the microphone to him, “I’m sorry miss. But there’s a blizzard moving in and we cannot risk venturing out into it. The danger is far too great, so we’ll have to wait until morning.”

A moment of silence, then, “Very well… 20,000 ducats for those who are willing.”

The village elder shook his head in disbelief, “Ma’am… this isn’t about money. I will not risk the lives of any of my villagers or young ones by sending them out into this coming storm.”

“50,000 ducats!” Coleen’s mother shouted more hysterically, “This is more than any of you dark-hairs will ever see in your entire lives! So take the money and go and find my daughter!”

The village elder shook his head and passed the microphone back to Avan, “I’m sorry… but I cannot help you in this matter. My people have already been through enough today.”

“I understand…” Avan said, he then responded with, “Just be patient, I’m going to go out alone and search for Coleen and Morris.”

Everyone gasped, including Zeri and Cosette, “Listen, Avan, I know you want to find them, I do too, but if you go out in the middle of a blizzard, you’ll surely freeze to--”

“But not before Morris and Coleen do!” Avan interrupted, “I’ll be going out more prepared and in warmer clothing than what you saw them dressed in earlier, Zeri.”

“Don’t be a fool, boy!” Coleen’s mother replied, “I want a full professional team to go and search for her! That’s what I’m paying for! Not some greedy academy kid!”

Avan stood up swiftly, knocking his chair over as he pounded the metal table with his fist, “This isn’t about money at all! It’s about saving peoples lives! What happened to these people today was a tragedy… I’m just trying to prevent another tragedy from happening today by going out to look for your daughter and Morris, right now!”

But just as Avan turned around, he ran into a hand that was placed against his chest. A young Darcsen girl, about his age with long ponytails and a dark wool toque was looking up at him, “You’re really going out there? Despite all of the danger?” she asked.

“Of course, my friends are out there and I need to find them!”

The Darcsen girl smiled, “I respect and admire that, boy. Come on, I know this mountain better than anyone else, I’ll help you out!” She then leaned around Avan and shouted, “And keep your money! I’m doing this because it’s the right thing to do!”

Cosette balled up her hands and grinned, “Yes! Let’s go find our friends!”

But before they could head off, the village elder from before ran up to the girl and took her by the shoulders, “No! My girl you mustn’t go! You know how dangerous these blizzards up here can be!”

Now it all made sense, why she knew the area better than anyone else… she was the daughter of the head elder of the village. She took her fathers hands comfortingly and said, “Don’t worry, father. We’ll be alright. Believe in this boy, as I believe in him. I know he won’t let any harm come to me, isn’t that right?”

Avan grinned ear to ear, “Of course! And with her help, we’ll be gone and back before you know it!” Avan said confidently, followed by his signature chuckle and thumbs up.

The head elder just silently nodded his head and stepped aside and together, Avan, Zeri, Cosette and this brave new girl headed to the warehouse to get geared up. Other villagers were passing them warm winter jackets, toques, goggles, pools, rope, ice picks and other essential items they’d need to brave the coming storm.

As Avan was suiting up, he asked, “What’s your name?”

She smiled back as she was throwing on her backpack, “I’m Lydia, pleased to be helping such a fine and upstanding person as yourself.”

“I appreciate the help, I mean it.” Avan replied.

“If your friends disappeared where I think they did… then their chances of making it through the blizzard alive are quite high!” Lydia said confidently.

Here's where Skyrim influence kicked in :P I was stuck on names, so I chose a name I knew well and respected and loved for the helpful girl :P

“I want you to believe that no matter what decision you make… I’ll go along with it… So I can be with you, Morris…” Coleen said with tears welling up in her eyes. “I’m old enough to move out of my parents house, so I won’t have to follow their orders or rules anymore. If you want to leave the school, then fine. I’ll resign as well. And… I know you were ready to sacrifice yourself for me and the others… but I wasn’t ready to let you go. Not now, not ever!" Now almost breaking down, Coleen added, "If nothing else… know this… wherever you go, I'll go… whether it be in life… or death… I’ll go with you without a moments pause.”

Morris nearly broke down as he watched Coleen cry. As silent tears fell down his face, he pulled Coleen towards him and hugged her tightly.

“I’m sorry…”

Coleen nuzzled her cheek against his, “It’s alright… And we’ll get through this Morris… somehow.”

Morris rubbed his eyes with the back of his sleeve and sniffled loudly, “Yes, we will. So lets begin, right now!” he said with confidence in his voice and a beaming smile.

With some help from Coleen, he got back onto his feet and wrapped his arm over her shoulders. Together, they began to search throughout the cave for another way out.

After only a few minutes, they found a small tunnel that slopped slightly downwards. Even more encouraging was the fact that there were logs bundled together with rope in what look like a staircase.

"Morris, look!" said Coleen. "Someone had to have built that! That means there's a way out!"

Sometime later, Avan and the others had arrived back at the village and they were heading to the squads tent where the radio and the villages survivors were being treated. Before they could start looking for a guide, Rene ran up to Avan and grabbed him by the arm.

“Thank goodness you’re all back!” she said in relief. She then looked over Avan’s shoulders and asked, “Where’s Coleen? Her dad's on the radio demanding to speak with her since you left. And he’s been driving us absolutely crazy!!”

“How did a civilian managed to get on a military radio?” Cosette asked curiously.

Rene rolled her eyes, “He’s filthy rich and has a lot of sway with the academy due to his families ‘generous’ donations.” Her eyebrows then furrowed angrily, “I don’t care how much money or power that old man has! If he continues to shout at Magari like that, I’m gonna--”

Avan placed his hand on Rene’s shoulder and looked her in the eyes as he confessed, “Rene… Coleen and Morris are missing."

"Wh-What?"

"They were caught in an avalanche, a few miles back that way.” Avan said as he tilted his head backwards.

Rene gasped and cupped her hands over her mouth, “Oh no!”

“I guess it’s only responsible that we inform them of the situation,” Avan said to Cosette and Zeri. He then moved past Rene, but not before patting her on the shoulder and then made his way towards the radio.

Even though they were still some ways off, they could hear Magari desperately trying to calm the shouting man down.

“Where is my daughter!” a angry mans voice shouted through the speakers, actually causing some ear splitting feedback to screech out aloud. “I was told that the battle had ended hours ago! So get my daughter on the line, right now!”

Magari was rubbing the side of her head with on hand, holding on the microphone with the other and looked completely warn out, “I’ll say it again, sir… We do not know where Coleen is at the moment, but she made it through the battle unharmed and we’ve got people out looking for her at this very moment. When we know something, we’ll--”

“Not good enough!” Coleen’s father shouted back, “Send more people out to find her! Go yourself if you have to, but just get my daughter on the line! Now!”

Avan patted Cosette on the arm, “Can you believe this man is the father of someone as sweet and caring as Coleen?”

“Not unless I witnessed this for myself…”

Avan then approached Magari, who had set the microphone down and was rubbing both sides of her temples with her fingertips. “I’ll take it from here, Magari.” Avan said with a smile.

“Thanks! Thank you so much!!” Magari said as she took her earphones off and handed them to Avan. She then ran to Rene and hugged her tight, wanting comfort from a close friend after getting yelled at for who knows how long.

Avan swallowed nervously, then pressed the talk button, “Sir, this is Avan Hardins, leader and class chair of class G. I’m sorry to have to report that your daughter was caught in an avalanche a few minutes ago. Don’t be alarmed, we don’t know for sure that--”

“What!? My poor baby girl was caught in a what!?”

“An avalanche, sir. We’re preparing to go back out and search for her this very moment.

"Don’t worry, sir," said Avan. "We was with Morris when it happened. So I’m she she’s perfectly safe and--”

“What!? She’s with that poor excuse for a soldier!?” It then sounded like the mic was dropped on the other end and Coleen’s father was shouting hysterically in the background. Avan looked back at Magari sympathetically, now knowing what she had had to put up with so far.

A calmer, female voice came on the other end of the radio, “Young man, this is Coleen’s mother. I have heard what has happened, so I’m offering a substantial reward of 10,000 ducats for any of the local villagers who bring our daughter back safe and sound. You are to inform them this immediately.”

[Add in a part here where Avan tells the Darcsens about the reward; this prompts the elder to come forward.]

The elder approached and Avan handed the microphone to him. [Put here a part where Coleen's mother tells the elder the conditions of the reward]

“I’m terribly sorry, madam. But there’s a blizzard moving in and I cannot risk having anyone venture out into it. I'm afraid we have to wait until morning.”

A moment of silence, then, “Very well… 20,000 ducats for those who are willing.”

The village elder shook his head in disbelief, “Madam, this is not about money. I will not risk the lives of my people, or any of these brave young cadets by sending them out into this coming storm. I am sure you understand-”

“50,000 ducats!” Coleen’s mother screeched angrily. “This is more than any of you dark-hairs will ever see in your entire lives! So take the money and go find my daughter this instant!”

The village elder shook his head as he passed the microphone back to Avan, “I’m sorry… but I cannot help you in this matter. My people have already been through enough already.”

“I understand…” Avan said, he then responded with, “Just be patient, I’m going to go out alone and search for Coleen and Morris.”

Everyone gasped, including Zeri and Cosette. Stepping forward, Zeri said, “Listen, Avan, I know you want to find them. I do too, but if you go out in the middle of a blizzard, you’ll surely freeze to--”

“But not before Morris and Coleen do!” Avan interrupted, “I’ll be going out more prepared and in warmer clothing than what you saw them dressed in earlier, Zeri.”

“Don’t be a fool, boy!” Coleen’s mother shouted. “I want a full professional team to go and search for her! That’s what I’m paying for, not some greedy punk!”

Avan stood up swiftly, knocking his chair over as he pounded the metal table with his fist, “This isn’t about money! It’s about saving peoples lives! What happened to these people today was a tragedy… I’m just trying to prevent another tragedy from happening today!”

But just as Avan turned around, he ran into a hand that was placed against his chest. A young Darcsen girl, about his age with long ponytails and a dark wool toque was looking up at him, “You’re really going out there?” she asked.

“Of course! My friends are out there and I need to find them!”

The Darcsen girl smiled, “Now you've got some guts, Lanseal boy. Come on, I know this mountain better than anyone else. I’ll help you out!” She then leaned around Avan and shouted to the microphone, “And keep your money! I’m doing this because it’s the right thing to do!”

Cosette balled up her hands and grinned, “Yes! Let’s go find Coleen and Morris!”

But before they could head off, the village elder from before ran up to the girl and took her by the shoulders, “No, Lydia! You mustn’t go! You know how dangerous these blizzards up here can be!”

Avan was startled by this. Now it all made sense, why she knew the area better than anyone else: she was the daughter of the head elder of the village.

Lydia took her fathers hands comfortingly and said, “Don’t worry, father. We’ll be alright, and we'll all come back in one piece. Right, Lanseal boy?”

Avan grinned ear to ear. “Of course! And with her help, we’ll be back before you know it!” he said confidently, followed by his signature chuckle and thumbs up.

The elder silently nodded his head and stepped aside. Together, Avan, Zeri, Cosette and Lydia headed to the warehouse to get geared up. Other villagers were passing them warm winter jackets, toques, goggles, pools, rope, ice picks and other essential items they’d need to brave the coming storm.

As Avan was suiting up, he said, “We appreciate the help, Lydia.”

"Don't mention it," Lydia said as she smiled back. As she threw on her backpack, she then said, “Listen, if your friends disappeared where I think they did, then they should be okay.”

Here's where Skyrim influence kicked in :P I was stuck on names, so I chose a name I knew well and respected and loved for the helpful girl :P

Nice Skyrim reference. Lydia's such a good helper when you give her the right equipment.

I've bolded some personal changes above that I would make, as well as deleted some parts that I felt were unneeded. Seems redundancy isn't something you can drop easily. Oh well, the rest is quite good.

One major change I'd make, though, is that Avan and co shouldn't be telling the truth to Coleen's parents. It'd be a very stupid move on their part; Coleen's father would probably have them all expelled from Lanseal with his political sway out of rage. I'd change it so that Avan simply tells them that Coleen went missing after a brief skirmish with Rebel forces. This, however, still prompts Coleen's parents to try and recruit the local Darcsens to find their daughter. (I liked the part where you had them offering the Darcsens a reward, but they continually turned it down. Very nice way of showing that they don't think money is everything.)

Sorry it took a while for me to get this out; I was busy with a few other things. I hope to see the DAWWWWWW moment up next!

I've gotten pretty rusty from my hiatus from writing :P I was also busy trying to get a new chapter out for my other Dragon Age fanfic :P

-You already figured out what was going to happen near the end of the story with Avan telling Coleens parents the truth :P Guess I'm mr predictable. That is, if and when they find Coleen and Morris. But who'll be the one to fight back against those threats? Avan? Or someone... who no one believed would :P

So... I didn't get much done for the Morris+Coleen fanfic. I had a sudden burst for the Franca+Nichol fanfic. So, I hope you'll settle for a different 'DDAAWWW' moment.

A short while later, Nichol made it to the solitude of the academy rooftops. He was sitting on the edge of the roof with his head resting in his hands.

“What have I done…” he asked himself, “I don’t think that things will ever be the same between her and I… ever again.”

Nichol then stood up and slowly walked to the edge of the rooftop and looked down at the festival that was still in full swing. The happy couples walking together, brothers and sisters treating each other to snacks and games, friends laughing together, and all the music and happy singing coming from down below.

Nichol hung his head and covered his face with his hands as he was on the verge of breaking down and sobbing. A million thoughts and worry were running through his mind.

“What am I going to do now? I’m going to have to leave the academy… How can I stay here after the humiliation I put Franca through…” Nichol thought sadly, Will things ever be alright between us after this?

Before anymore thoughts could enter his mind. This was something that couldn’t be decided on right away. It would need a nights or at least a few hours of sleep to decide.

Nichol then left the edge of the rooftop and began to walk towards the rooftop entrance. All the while he had his hands in his pockets. His sad eyes looking down at his feet. Suddenly, a mighty shadow began to overtake his own shadow, growing ever larger. Before he knew it, day seemed to turn to night.

“What the…” Nichol said aloud as he turned around and raised his eyes skyward. What he saw made him become speechless, and all of his breath to leave his body in a single gasp.

It was a mighty airship. One so large that it blocked all light from the sun shining brightly overhead as it flew in front of it.

C-calm down! Nichol told himself, M-maybe this is an elaborate stunt or part of the spirit festival!

Those thoughts, however, were crushed as soon as the mighty airship crashed into the academy’s enormous bell tower. Unable to withstand the force, even the mighty tower bent to the airships size and began to crumble.

Nichol heard screams, but he didn’t know whether they were his own, in his head or from the people below. Nichol gasped loudly as she realized all of the rubble from the tower was falling towards him in a deadly shower of boulders of varying size. Some as big as his fist, others were many times his own size.

Nichol ran towards the towers entrance, but as soon as he grasped the knob pieces of the tower began to hit the rooftop level he was on and shake it. He instinctively held his hands over his head and cried out. He hit the ground and continued to cover his head and pray that this was all a dream. A piece of rock hit his head and he immediately began to see stars. It wasn’t long until his cheek hit the ground and he fell unconscious.

The next thing Nichol knew, he was in a field with his sister. Strangely Franca was only a teenager and dressed in summer apparel. A quick look overhead showed it to be night time. Nichol looked over and saw Franca holding his hand and laughing loudly. A sudden boom overhead made Nichol recoil in surprise and grasp Franca by the leg. She laughed out loud again and petted Nichol on the head.

“Don’t be scared, Nichol. It’s only fireworks!” Franca said cheerfully, “I know you’ve seen them before!”

Nichol still couldn’t figure out what was going on, but he looked towards the night sky and saw numerous fireworks exploding overhead. Red, blue, green and even pink ones in a brilliant display of color.

Still, whatever this was… it was peaceful. Best of all… Nichol was with Franca, his beloved. He nuzzled his cheek against Franca’s hip and closed his eyes as even more and more fireworks exploded overhead. The last thing he heard before darkness took him was Franca’s cheerful giggles.

Yet… a tunnel of light began to enter Nichols eyes. It quickly got brighter and brighter and was quickly followed by numerous loud, but dull sounding ‘Booms!’

The familiar stony grounds of the rooftop began to come back to him as his vision returned. But the strong smell of smoke made his nose twitch. Then, all at once, his senses returned to him. He heard explosions and rapid gunfire, he smelt smoke, he tasted blood, he felt something hard and heavy pressing against his back and his fingertips touched stone.

He was on his stomach, hands above his shoulders with his hands against the ground, stone blocks were on top of him and as his tongue touch the corner of his mouth, he tasted blood. He wiggled around some and found that he wasn’t completely trapped by the massive stone blocks that just missed crushing him completely.

His first concern was getting out from these blocks. He wiggled and squirmed and was finally able to pull himself out from under the blocks. As soon as he was out, he looked back and saw that it was the wall near the rooftop entrance that took most of the stone blocks weight, saving him from being crushed completely.

The gunshots and explosions from down below sounded even louder this time. Nichol dragged himself towards the nearby ledge and peeked over. What he saw was pure and utter chaos.

Over a dozen glowing blue V2s were marching through the grounds, charging up their energy weapons and firing into crowds of his fellow students. And dozens of rebel infantry of all sorts were running amuck. There were pockets of scattered Lanseal resistance, but it seemed that the rebels had the upper hand.

He heard a lot of commotion and looked down below, spotting a group of ten rebel shock trooper making their way towards ‘the old building’ of Lanseal academy. No forces, friendly or rebels were engaged in combat there. But to Nichol… there was no place worse that the rebels could attack. Franca was sent there to be locked up for the day.

Extremely worried, Nichol crawled under the huge stone blocks and managed to get the door open just enough so that he could squeeze through. Yes, the school was under attack. Yes, his other friends were most likely in danger. Yes, he probably should escape while he still had the chance… but his only concern at the moment was for Franca… his sister… or his beloved… or… he didn’t really know how or what to think of her as at that moment. Either way, someone he cared for was in great danger.

Being in the main building, Nichol tried to make his way back to Class G’s classroom. But a mighty fire blocked the main hallway. Sounds of gunfire, screaming and commotion showed that the rebels were already inside and fighting with the schools cadets.

Thankfully, the stairwell ended near the main entrance. Though it was blown apart and rebel and lanseal forces bodies were strewn about, the way was clear. Now all he had to do was make it to the old building unseen. Thankfully, the rebels seemed preoccupied with the heaviest pockets of resistance and were ignoring stragglers and single units. That combined with Nichols training to move unseen as a sniper helped him move swiftly through the grounds.

Soon he rounded the corner of a building and had the old building in his sights. It surprised him that the rebels had set up behind some sandbags and were firing towards the old building. Perhaps some friendly forces made it there while he was on the move and helped to defend it.

Nichol moved from cover to cover and in no time at all was less than fifty feet from the rebels taking cover behind the sandbags. Their backs were to him and provided perfect targets… if only he had a weapon. But his concern for his sister made him leave the main building as quickly as possible to get to her.

Nearby, Nichol spotted a rebel rifle, its owner lying dead next to it. Nichol snuck over and picked it up. He then raised it to his shoulder and took aim at what he thought to be the leader. But what he heard next wasn’t a bang, but an ear ringing ‘Kaboom!’ followed immediately by a burning white flash of sparks that both blinded him and scorched all the skin across his face. Somehow his gun had almost literally exploded in his hands.

Nichol screamed at the top of his lungs and covered his hands with his face. He fell to his knees and continued to scream and writhe in pain on the grassy ground.

Suddenly, Nichol felt a sudden sharp pressure in his stomach and was immediately rolled over from the force onto his back. He blinked as his vision began to return to him, but what came into focus made his heart freeze. It was the rebel leader, the rest of his squad were either still up at the sandbags firing up ahead or advancing forward from cover to cover across the bridge.

“Trying to sneak up on us? Lanseal fool!” the leader said as he kicked Nichol.

Up ahead, at the main doors, Avan peeked over the sandbags he and a group of his friends set up to protect the building when the attack began. He looked passed the rebels and saw someone on the ground. He thought that person looked familiar, but it was Zeri who confirmed it with the binoculars he had raised to his face.

“It’s Nichol!! He’s in danger!!” Zeri announced from his higher up post.

Then, next to Avan, Franca appeared, fully dressed in her shock troopers uniform. “NICHOL! NO!” She screamed, leaping over the sandbags in one swift movement and charging across the bridge as fast as her legs could carry her.

“Cover Franca guys!” Avan shouted up to Chloe and Helmut, who were the rooftop snipers. He then jumped over the sandbags as well, rifle in hand, two handguns in their holsters attached to his hips.

Even without a weapon in her hands, Franca charged across the bridge, Avan hot on her heels. They were quickly coming up to the first pile of enemy sandbags. Two shock troopers manning it. They jumped up and aimed their machine guns at both Franca and Avan. Not even a second later, two gunshots rang out simultaneously and the two rebels fell back. Chloe and Helmut’s bullets found their marks, two forehead shots.

At the same time, the two rebels continued to kick and beat Nichol. Since he had no armour on, he took the full force of each kick to his stomach, legs, chest and face.

Behind them, Franca picked up the pace and began to outrun Avan. Now came a worse threat. There were two more rebels who popped up from behind cover. But they were on either side of the bridge. Not a shot that Avan could make with his single rifle. He tossed it aside, reached back to his rear holsters and drew the two large 45 Calibre handguns. He had to stop to aim, leaving Franca to continue on ahead alone. He squeezed both triggers and was taken aback at how powerful the kick on each handgun was as it made him stumble backwards after firing. Thankfully, both rebels went down at the same time just as Franca cleared past them.

Meanwhile, the rebel leader grabbed Franca by the throat and hauled him to his knees. He then took out his handgun, cocked it back and aimed it directly at Nichols battered face.

“I’m going to enjoy this!” he said evilly. Though to Nichols ears, it sounded extremely distorted, as well as his vision being blurry. He did however, manage to see him suddenly look over and be smacked across the face by a metal bar, turning him 180 degrees. A hard blow to the shoulders by his saviour made the rebel fall to his knees. Then a hit to the helmet, denting it inwards and knocking him to the ground.

All the while this happened, he heard a familiar screaming voice, “Leave. My. Brother. ALONE!!” With each word came a hard hit by Franca with the metal beam in her hands.

Nichol couldn’t believe it. He wanted to be the one doing the saving. But instead he was saved. And just as he started falling backwards, he was caught. He opened his eyes and looked up into Franca’s worried face. Streaks of tears falling across her cheeks.

“Nichol! Are you alright?” Franca asked shrilly.

Nichol still couldn’t believe that Franca was here, out of her cell, and that she had saved him. So he only nodded in response. The next thing he knew, his sore face was being pressed against Franca shoulder. She was hugging him, tightly. Her sobs of relief seemed to drown out all sounds of battle.

“Oh thank goodness!” Franca sobbed, “Thank you god for letting me save him!”

Sorry if it's a little rough :P But as you know, it'll all be ironed out in the end. Let me know what you think!
