Settings in shows like this amuse me. The car seems completely anachronistic compared to everything else, which looks like some old European countryside centuries ago. Yet somehow, it works, and questions like "how did a city nation that large get established so quickly" really don't seem to matter as much as they should, logically speaking.

Show gives me a big FMA vibe though. The city entrance was especially ominous and creepy.

i guess.....this is my theory for the past of (Astin Family)


1. Hampnie meets Hana for the first time

He noticed traits of Gravekeeper(killing a "Dead" without emotions, expressionless
being) but doesnt know "sense of dead"(there is a dead person who still living)

thus he explained it (EP.2)

instead of normal reaction on Hana.....He interested on her(he talk to her.even taking her date eventually Hana falls in love to him)(eventually Hana showed
a expression of being a human but still a gravekeeper)

2. "Secret Death of Friend's Wife"

Julie's wife died instead burying her.....he accepted her "being alive" due he scared due of he cannot raise her daughter alone

even ask Hana for not bury her wife

Hana become sick due "Sense of Dead to be buried" eventually Hampnie
discovered it and killed friend's wife thus it result a conflict of friends due
to that issue Hana leaves without notice

Hampnie started to search her + killing "dead"

3. Hana accepted the dead being alive due to that(while Hampnie hated the Dead)......she find a village and become friends on it......after she gives birth
to her daugther Ai then villagers started to dying out(Hana reglected being a
Gravekeeper due being a mother of Ai + changing her name to "Alfa"(thus she died on it) + Villagers accepted being "alive" and promised her that they will raised Ai but She gonna be the Gravekeeper but still a good relationship on her)




That is my theory on the past(sorry for the english errors i am not good with it)

This ep was great in every sense of the word. The atmosphere especially.

After what happened in the previous episode, I'd been wondering where the show was going to go next, and the answer is: ROAD TRIP!

In many ways this episode put me in mind of two other things.
A 'twilight years of humanity' feel that very much reminded me of Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou. While it's not the same kind of cosy catastrophe we see in YKK, you do get in this show the feeling that the world is winding down.
Also the same feeling that you shouldn't think about the infrastructure too much, there's probably some surviving infrastructure but it's behind the scenes...

The other thing this episode put me in mind of was that it had a bit of a 'Kino no Tabi' feel to it. That feeling of travelling to a strange place to see what happens there.

Both good things to be reminded of, really.

But the highlight of the show was the city of Ortus, a city of a million dead who won't lie down, and which was both beautiful and creepy with its wonderful carnival atmosphere.

I suspect Scar's illness is because every fibre of her being is telling her to go out and bury people, and she's having to hold herself back. And there's that voice....

So far this show is better than I'd expected when I read the previews!

Spoiler for Episode 5:

The new episode feels pretty good but I've suddenly realized that the new arc will not be on par with the series' beginning, thus I feel it was a letdown paling in comparison. However, Ulla really sets up the trend of masked and tied up anime girls with enigma, and I love how she writes her notebook in French, so I can quite understand what she feels, it reminds me of what Eucliwood from Is This A Zombie? do the same thing and they are really lookalike personality-wise. I am indifferent with the halved character though, although the fact that she can changes bodies with someone else (a black-haired glasses woman in this case) made me feel a little better than expect. We still don't know how capable Scar can overcome from sickness in a while though, and the mystery aspect is quite interesting. Watching the last few minutes made me think something grand will happen, and I cannot wait to see how Ai can react that event, it would likely be somewhat of a strange ritual. We'll see how the Ortas arc will go from now on.
