Btw, all the implied sexual intercourse in this episode is kinda surprising since the previous episodes felt so “innocent” about that topic (even the “watching porn” scene). First, we got the Wulgur’s king with that maid “did it” earlier, and then Prince Pleguzes Jiart was also “doing it” with the same maid (what a busy maid ). There’s also a little bit of vibe between Jiart and Lutiel, but I don’t think they “did it” (yet). Though I think all those implied sex is kinda the point to show even more contrast between the two sides: our innocent heroes and the “rape whoever you want to rape” villains .

Not funny really. The domestic help being raped by the king. Then his brother rapes her too. Even if she resist she'd get hurt.
Jiart lusts after Theoria even if she is related to him. Izuru subconsciously wants to be Theoria's hero. Yeah these guys are designated arch-rivals even if they haven't formally met yet Last edited by ReddyRedWolf; 2013-05-17 at 11:31. |

Believe me, I know what happened to her is horrible, it’s just my cynic-self kicked in when I posted that. I blame myself for devouring many gritty anime & manga that makes me become somewhat desensitized about sexual harassment in fiction. (if you hate sexual harassment to women, try read a manga called Wolf Guy. Oooh boy, that damn manga will rock your world, in a bad way).
Though to give more observation to it, I think the maid already know the risk of her job considering she lives in a world where the strong can "rape whoever he wants to rape". Doesn't change the fact that it's horrible.

I kind of am interested in this one that has Jiart as the Char clone: barbarian version. He takes what he wants and will have whatever woman he wants, but he still does it with that "romance novel-esque" dominating alpha male charm. Quote:

Just going to chime in quickly on the topic. Yeah, the sexual implications definitely came out of nowhere for me. As someone stated earlier, mecha genres typically don't venture into these territories. At the same time, if done correctly, it could be something unique in mecha genre.
Btw, yeah, that Wolf Guy series absolutely demoralized me. That was overkill. |

Episode 7....
What kind of high ranking commander would outline his entire battleplan to the media? That's like having General MacArthur giving a press on how he would attack the Japanese Empire and which islands he's going to attack and such. |

It's also historically accurate to have non-combat time military leaders rise up that are actually incapable of managing a proper war. The first thing any protracted warfare normally requires is firing most of your top Generals. So doing something this completely stupid is actually plausible, especially since they said early in that there had been zero communication. So, while stupid, they can claim that the Wulgaru wouldn't be able to understand it. On the sexual aspect that popped up, I think it needs to be taken in the same vein as the rest of the major tropes they've hit upon. The Wulgaru are a hedonistic society, so there's a lot that goes with that. It's a pretty logical place, though it may truly just be confined to the major players in the Wulgaru society and not their entire populations. (So a bit like how some of the Roman Emperors were so different from the main society, and sexing up the maids is a pretty expected outcome in any Royal household, so it's really more they just actually said it happened that was surprising) Though I think we might have all skipped over the fact that Lutiel also went to sex up Jiart, quite possibly whether he wanted to or not (though he seemed up to it). So, much like how Team Rabbits started out as 1-dimensional characters, intentionally, I think the Wulgaru are going to start out as just hedonists of multiple stripes, and the series will build from there. Granted, I'm also not sure which of the Wulgaru head council got death flagged this time. So, we'll see on that! |

Mecha anime as a trope either has impressive body counts or having main characters just suddenly die (but they do it so often we now suspect everyone can die with only the production decided who doesn't die).
After Girls und Panzer though, I'm not quite sure what to expect for MJP.

In 4chan it has been pointed out that the Wulgur run on Primal Instincts. Eat, sleep, mate these are primal instincts.
The JURIA system is based on survival instincts of humanity. Fight or flight. So really it is sides of the same coin. So perhaps the whole point of this is to surpass these instincts. Like what Izuru did protecting civilians. |

^The Char-clone prince was an example of primal instincts if harpooning a dunkoleosteus was any indication. Would anyone here go do that with a predatory fish that big? Not most people. The folks at /m/ also pointed out that very rarely in mecha anime does a series ever bring up rape, I even laughed when someone satirized the situation with some post along the lines of "Darn it MJP I wanted my story about alien genocide and extermination to be family friendly, but also having rape? That is too far!" I wonder if this series will break similar traditions.

At this point, who knows? It might be possible, it might be impossible. There’s simply not enough info yet to give directions to our speculation regarding the relationship between Izuru and Theoria. We only know that Izuru somewhat recognize/remember her, so there’s a high chance that they already met each other in the past or the memory was planted in his mind somehow. Also, since we know that Izuru’s body is a bit abnormal (what the doctor said in episode 3), there’s some wild speculations that he’s somehow related to the Wulgaru race.
