It's a satire on the story itself. Kure-nai exploits the harem genre, surrounding a boy with half a dozen females aged 7 to 35, but it tells a distinctly dark and unromantic story. The OP animation highlights many of the important relationships in the show in subtle and funny ways.
Spoiler for example:
Love Jump also has a nostalgic appeal to me because it employs the Phil Spector "wall of sound" approach to music production. The wall of sound dominated popular music when I was growing up. Songs like the Ronettes "Be My Baby" just blew our socks off. (No, not bobby-socks; that was before even my time, like Sinatra after the War.) I often thought about polling Kure-nai viewers as to which chibi dances best. Spoiler for chibi dance-off:
Like Rawgers, I like "Guns and Roses," too. Brains-Base has good musical tastes as well as excellent stories and animation. People who like melancholy songs have been entranced by the OP and ED from their current release, Natsume Yuujinchou. Here's two others you might like: the OP to Ayakashi Samurai Horror Tales (can't link since it's licensed), and the OP to Shirow's Ghost Hound. The Ayakashi OP comes in three "flavors," with different background animations for each of the three story arcs in the collection. "Allegro Cantabile," the OP for Nodame Cantabile remains one of my favorite pop openings. Both EDs are good, too, though it's best to hear them come up behind the end of the episode and build into the titles.
