I'm close to finishing I/O, BTW. It's actually a very good game. Not as good as Ever17, but still a very interesting and entertaining story. If I were to rank I/O amongst the Infinity series, it would be #2 (Lower than Ever17, but higher than Never7). More details when I finally finish it.

It's tied for 3rd with Never7. They're close, but N7 wins because it has an actual conclusion and I like N7's cast better than R11. Plus, as the translator of N7, I feel a special attachment to it.

Finished I/O after about 40 hours of gameplay (without going for the bad endings and 100% completion).

I personally thought it was great, and would give it a 9.5/10. It certainly did have its flaws, but overall, I found it to be an improvement over Remember11, but didn't think it was as good as Ever17. Yep, that's still the plan. However, in between the two of them, I'm going to be translating Higurashi Daybreak as a favor to Roger Pepitone. Fortunately, that probably won't take too long.

I/O was the first game created by Infinity director Takumi Nakazawa after he left KID and founded Regista. It doesn't take place in the same universe as the Infinity series, but it contains similar themes and general gameplay themes, such as multiple protagonists, TIPS, bad endings influenced by other routes, etc.

Just finished Ever17, this is one of the best VN I have played if not the best.

I love the characters (especially Tsugumi), the mindfucking and inconsistencies.

I also get chills when I see life reading: 1 at the endings, makes me think "Shit, we (I get into the characters alot) left someone there."

The only question remains for me in the end is what is BW (I know he's an 4th dimension entity but what entity?). Some of those things that keeps me wondering from here on.

It is also arguable that the goal of the characters to "summon Blick Winkel" throughout the game refers to the goal of the authors to hold your attention, gain sympathy for the characters, give tantalizing clues along the way and reveal everything to you in the end.

In retrospect, it's intriguing to note how openly they telegraphed Blick Winkel's identity all along, going so far as to describe the "fourth dimensional" being in a manner that parallels the player's ability to ultimately see everything in the game, past, present and future, as the player of the game.

And they managed to do all that without breaking the "fourth wall" in the process. To the characters, you are not a player of a game, but an integral part of their lives. They don't really understand who you are, but they are grateful to you for "helping" them resolve their difficult, though fictional, problems.

That said, it is also possible to interpret Blick Winkel and the goals of the authors in other ways, since we are talking about Ever17 here, after all.

But that's how I see it, and I consider it a brilliant stroke so typical of this magnificent game.

No, BW/the player is not god. While our abilities are certainly greater than those in the Ever17 world, all it means is that we can travel to any point in time, and influence actions by possessing/speaking to other people. As seen by the time paradox section, we/BW are still limited by some of the laws of their world.

They never explain that, but I share the same theory as yours that Coco's dad put them in Pipi beforehand for that reason.

BTW, have you seen the Drama CDs yet? They contain the game's "afterstory".
