Daisuke then told Rina, straight-out, not to go to the Garden because destroying it wouldn't help create a haven for the Mushibane, and that if she went he would have to fight her. Shocked, Rina asked him what he was talking about. When Daisuke revealed that he was Kakkou, Rina flew into a rage, accusing him of deceiving her and Shiika and stealing the dreams of countless Mushitsuki. She then summoned Nanahoshi, blowing apart the corner of her studio, and promised to kill him. Daisuke calmly told her to go ahead, closed his eyes and waited as Nanahoshi flew at him. At the last second Rina shouted for Nanahoshi to stop; Daisuke told her that if she couldn't kill him, she wouldn't be able to save anyone even if she went to the Garden.

Rina fell to her knees, blaming the SEPB for everything that had happened. Daisuke told her that she still didn't get it, and said that if the SEPB was going to stop him from achieving their (i.e. his, Shiika's and Rina's) dreams, he'd be out to destroy it himself. Rina then asked why everything had turned out this way (i.e. if Daisuke was right and the SEPB wasn't the main enemy), and Daisuke answered obliquely that Shiika's strength comes from not hating or blaming anyone, choosing survival over death. After hearing that, Rina wondered whether she'd already lost to her own Mushi long ago.

Daisuke then told Rina that her own paintings had made him remember that, if he stayed alive, everything would work out, and someday his dreams would come true... so he told Rina again not to go to the Garden, because it was a trap.

However, Rina reiterated that she had a dream, to free everyone from Garden and create a place for Mushitsuki. She told him that he could laugh at her for being an idiot, and that the next time they met they'd be enemies. Then she leapt through the smashed wall into the air, and Nanahoshi carried her away.

Loved ep10. Strange as it may be, I like the look of the show, and I loved the voices of Hanazawa Kana (Shiika) and Nabatame Hitomi (Rina). Guppy's description is what I heard (imperfectly).

I'll try to expand a little - my Japanese isn't great, so bear with me...

(Daisuke and Rina are in the art studio room of her apartment. Daisuke is sitting on a stool, posing, while Rina paints him. Canvases of completed paintings are lined up against the walls.)

Rina: Ah! Don't move.

Daisuke: Oh... sorry.

(Daisuke's eyes shift to the paintings standing against the wall.)

Daisuke: That's a lot of paintings. Are you going to keep doing them?

Rina: This is the final one. I won't paint anymore.

Daisuke: You won't... why?

Rina: I've found something else I want to do.

Daisuke: More important than painting?

Rina: Yes... something important for the future.

(Rina focuses her attention on Daisuke's portrait as she paints.)

Rina: If I had to die for it, I wouldn't mind.

(A look of shock flashes over Daisuke's face for a moment. Then he closes his eyes. When he opens them again, his face is composed and stern.)

Rina: What? You're staring at me.

Daisuke: No... I was just thinking that's pathetic.

(Rina lifts her head in surprise.)

Rina: Eh?

Daisuke: Dying for the sake of the future means giving up on your own dreams, doesn't it? Ideals are fine, but sacrificing yourself for them... does that make the people you've left behind happy?

(Daisuke lifts his head to look Rina directly in the eye.)

Daisuke: It's stupid.

(There's a definite edge in Rina's tone as she replies.)

Rina: Why? Why are you saying this?

Daisuke: Do you really think your dream will come true like this?

(Taken aback, Rina makes a small sound of surprise as Daisuke continues.)

Daisuke: Destroying Garden won't help you make a place for the Mushibane, will it?

(Rina becomes very still.)

Rina: What are you saying... Kusuriya?

Daisuke: Don't go to Garden. If you do, I'll have to fight you.

Rina: How do you know...?!

(Rina gasps as she suddenly spots Daisuke's Mushi hovering just over his head. She shakes her head in disbelief and takes a half-step backwards.)

Rina: It can't be...

(Daisuke stands up.)

Daisuke: You understand now, don't you? I'm Kakkou.

(Rina's palette clatters to the ground.)

Rina: That's... that's...

(She widens her stance out for a second, apparently getting ready for combat, then suddenly relaxes and starts laughing aloud... before exploding in anger.)

Rina: That you would be Kakkou... that's not even funny! So you've been deceiving me all this time? You tricked Shiika too! You knew she was Snow Fly?

(Rina closes her eyes in pain.)

Rina: The Mushitsuki... everyone's smiles... and dreams... you took them all, you demon!

(Rina glares at Daisuke.)

Rina: You'll pay for that. I'll definitely going to kill you!

(Rina's eyes narrow as that corner of the building explodes. As the smoke clears, Nanahoshi hovers beside her.)

Daisuke: Kill me... if you can sacrifice people for your dream.

Rina: I can. If I kill you, there's nothing else to fear. And the place for everyone, as well... Nanahoshi!

(Rina points at Daisuke, and Nanahoshi retracts into its armoured shell before streaking towards him. Daisuke just closes his eyes, as Rina watches Nanahoshi plunge forward...)

Rina (anguished): No! Nanahoshi!

(Nanahoshi halts its charge in a rush of wind, inches from Daisuke's face. He hasn't moved even a fraction.)

Daisuke: What's wrong? You wanted your dream to come true, didn't you? Then hurry up and kill me.

(Rina's expression is frustrated; she knows what she should do, but can't make herself do it. Finally she dismisses Nanahoshi, who vanishes, and sinks to her knees.)

Daisuke: If you hesitate to kill me, then even if you go to Garden you won't be able to save anyone.

Rina: If you hadn't taken the dreams of the Mushitsuki...! Everyone would be able to live freely! All of it is the SEPB's fault!

Daisuke (angrily): You still don't understand?! That's not the Mushitsuki's enemy!

(Daisuke walks forward to stand directly in front of Rina, looking down at her.)

Daisuke: If the SEPB was blocking our dreams, then I'd get rid of it myself right now!

Rina: So what are you saying? Why did everything turn out like this? Why are all these terrible things happening to us?

Daisuke: The enemy has always been right before your eyes, hasn't it?

Rina: Before my eyes...?

Daisuke: Do you know why Shiika is strong?

(Rina blinks, looking at him in sudden wonder.)

Daisuke: She didn't hate anyone. She didn't blame anyone. She taught me to value survival over death.

Rina: Then, I... already lost, long ago? To my own Mushi...

Daisuke: Rina, you showed me, too.

(He turns his head to look at her paintings against the wall. Rina follows his gaze.)

Daisuke: As long as you stay alive, things will work out somehow. When I saw your paintings, I remembered that.

(Daisuke turns back to Rina and kneels down in front of her. He places a hand on her shoulder.)

Daisuke: Someday, your dream will come true. So...

(He leans in close to her, his face serious.)

Daisuke: Don't go to Garden.

(Rina looks at him a moment, then lowers first her eyes and then her head.)

Rina: I wish... I'd met you sooner.

(Rina smiles faintly as she finishes speaking.)

Daisuke: This is a trap, Rina.

Rina: I have a dream, too.

(Rina gently removes his arm from her shoulder and stands up.)

Rina: To free everyone from Garden... and make a place for the Mushitsuki.

(Rina turns away from him.)

Rina: Call me stupid. Laugh at me.

(She looks back at him, a smile on her face.)

Rina: The next time we meet, we'll be enemies, won't we... Kusuriya?

(Rina runs to the shattered corner of the building and jumps out into space. Nanahoshi appears from offscreen and carries her away in a buzz of wings. Daisuke gets to his feet.)

Daisuke: You idiot.

Good for a peaceful episodes, though the scream at the end made me . There goes another car... Oh, and the roof...

Not very enthusiastic about this show lately... It's still good, but it's not something I anticipate every week. The next episode will hopefully start a good two-episode plot/climax.

I think it was the realization and fear of where she actually is.

I would imagine that the place practically the hell for all Mushitsuki... The one place you do not want to be trapped in.

Shiika seems to be the only one who's been inside and emerged to tell the tale - I think her tone said it all when she told the Mushibane members that she never wanted to go back there again.

Unfortunately for Shiika, there isn't a long list of other candidates right now if someone has to go pull Rina out. Maybe Daisuke, if he cares to stretch his terms of employment to the limit...

Episode 9 was simply excellent - far above the average of earlier ones. I do hope it continues like this.

Minmin was very much goading Rina into going in the first place. I don't think she's also going to be there to pull her out. And don't forget that Minmin's stated ulterior motive is to kill Kakkou.

Judging from their 'meeting' last episode, as well as Haji already knowing about her intended 'betrayal', chances are the both of them are in on it together from episode one...

Yes... so true... finding out the person you like is with someone else doesn't mean you need to suddenly lose all joy in life. Although, I guess there's no way the plot could sustain that level of emotional angst, anyway, since Rina doubles as an action hero.

Daisuke breaking it to Rina is something which I suppose had to happen like that... Even if he approached it at calmly as possible, he'd have to totally convince her that turning people into Fallen is the right thing to do, before he could let her know he was Kakkou, to prevent her from flipping out and declare herself his enemy like she did, and yep, that would be pretty difficult, to say the least. Daisuke should have mentioned not to trust Asuza, though, at least. Well... I guess any advice he gives will end up having the opposite effect, if she thinks he's been tricking her. Man, what an annoying situation.

turning people into fallen is the right thing to do?? even if he did say such a thing rina wont listen to any of that bull...and whats the problem with trusting asuza? she is just feeding rina information, its not like she is actively telling her to go and stop the bad guys (playing the middle person is really something )

The end of this ep gave me flashbacks to the end of evangelion

Rina had to fight off a whole army of mushi controlled by haji and in the end her nanohoshi goes crazy just like centi and that weird fusion happens. Kakkou is now on the scene to save the day where he fuses with his mushi and fires but with not much effect. Then some random woman turns up and summons her freaky butterfly mushi telling people down below how tasty their dreams are

on shiika's side we see her being attacked by the same woman before but she left. mimi then "saves" shiika but then reveals her true aim to kill shiika. she fails and her mushi dies. Shiika tried to stop her mushi from killing anymore which worked but she was then sneak attacked by the beetle user - causing shiika to be stabbed (what looks like to be a fatal wound >.<).

That's Oogui, a Hajimari no Sanbiki. Really weird, spouting some stereotypical villain talk...

Wow, great episode!

Kakkou- Getting more taken over, now looks kind of like a crispy Hulk... Couldn't get a good look...

Shiika- Oh no! Talking bug! Noooooo! *gasp* Woah, got shot in the stomach... It's a mystery whether she will die, but looks rather bad...

Rina- Ah-ah, there she goes. Her mushi went crazy too.

Keigo- He needs to stay somewhere more safe. I understand he wants to taunt Rina, but he seriously could have died, if Kakkou didn't get there. Uses machine guns and missiles... And has one heck of an army of bugs *shiver*

Oogui- Freaky!

Kabuto- Good job in causing Shiika's bug to go berserk...

Minmin- Poor girl. Fun to watch this episode though. All her semi-sadistic laughing and movements (like the arms... I guess villains seem weird if they move too much (?)... Like Scaglietti's doctor dance...) Loses to Shiika, seemingly not knowing that the snow could destroy her bug. Wanted to become a normal human so Keigo would accept her... That, and take out Fuyu-hotaru.

Other thought: A bit of 3-D...
