You make a good point about Alisia-in-a-test-tube looking not too different from her movie appearance (this is getting creepier all the time). I'm pretty sure she looked older in Amata's photo of her, though, so who knows. We have matched pairs of Amata-Kagura, Mikono-Zessica, maybe his mom had a (twin) sister? Grasping at straws right there.

I'm a bit more suspicious than you seem to be about the difference in precision between 16年に and 約１０年前, the former's pretty sharp temporally and the latter's fairly loose (+2/-1 years tops?). These are presumably someone's brief highlights from the novels but I'd bet there's a material time gap between those events...which is also suspicious. Especially when there're other events listed as １０年前 too, it really seems to me like somehow Altair got a prerelease copy of "Skies of Aquaria?".

Come to think of it: what if it was shot on Altair? . I'm getting excited for next week again now.

Zuul: exactly, sigh. We've already had Zen call Mykage out on that point so it's "in play", and now we have our one likely-to-be-true image of Amata's mom also weaving with red string. I'm somewhere between and facepalm, but had to share that observation. Sigh.

i noticed her weaving a red sweater or what not in the episode itself. she really could be silvia for all we know. but you know who else is strangely attached to red/gold? zessica and her can before she twisted it

so was shushu in the beach picture drinking from red straw.

I don't know - to me she doesn't look older, she just has her hair all down and is being motherly and stuff. (Well, as far as stereotypes go, sitting in a rocking chair with a warmer in her lap, knitting stuff is already in granny category for me, but anyway. ) Notice though, that even out of costume she still has the hair ringlets or whatever they are called.

Btw, I'm looking at the thread but I don't see the significance - help me out? (Frankly I'm more intrigued by the cat. xD)

It's just that I'm a bit wary about time because these are just excerpts without any context whatsoever. Clearly, Altair's time is in sync with Vega's, otherwise the dimension travel hijinks wouldn't be so easy.

Btw, I just watched the relevant parts of ep 12 and there was a scene where Sylphie flew upwards in the sky, but it was different from Amata's memory, she faced toward the camera and had the galaxy as a backdrop.

Amata's memories are clearly fake, his mother leaving him is a replay of one of the scenes in the movie (which I've only just now realized to actually be the case, it seems. Watch the movie in Ep. 12, there's a scene where you see Alicia looking back while flying upward, just as in Amata's memories... unless my memory is failing me completely).

It would seem like what we've suspected for a while is indeed true, Amata's background and story are a lie. His memories are inaccessible, which is just making all of this very suspicious and strange. I'm starting to wonder if that *man with Amata's hair* that we saw in Ep. 11, is Amata and not his dad.

So back to the drawing board; we don't have a genuine background on Amata, we don't have any background on Zessica. Mikono and Kagura we know if only vaguely for the latter. The movie is seemingly getting used to change everyone's recollection of the original story -> Kagura has it messed up, Mikono does too, Zessica's vision of it was completely wrong, and Amata's memories seem to be coming straight from the movie (peculiarly, his connection with Mikono also came about because of the movie).

Kagura -> Following movie.
Mikono -> Swaying back and forth because of the film.
Amata -> Fighting film.
Zessica -> Following her own feelings.

Don't forget that Amata has that photo of Alicia. Even those that know her know that it was a private photo rather than one that was professionally taken. Mikage also said that the one who was piloting the Aquarion in the battles against them was Alicia's son.

I'd say it's more that Amata's memories are distorted rather than being fake. His obsession with the movie merely merged certain scenes of them with actual events.

that memory of Alisia being taken away is not from the movie. The movie has a scene of Alisia-as-Sylphie flying but it's completely different. And Alisia is in stasis wearing her Sylphie costume so I think we can safely assume that she went to Altair wearing the costume (special service!), so that part of the memory is OK, too.

Seriously, guys, am I the only one who wants to know...

- why Alisia is wearing her hair like Sylphie even out of costume? (I mean the hair ring thingies)
- why Amata's memory of Alisia going away just happens to take place at the same/very similar place as Cayenne's visions? With the crosses and stuff?
- why Altair chose Alisia in the first place? So she had flying powers, cool, but she couldn't be the only element Izumo & Co. found.

Regarding time: thinking about it, little Amata seems like 4-6 when Alisia is going away. We know that Amata already had problems with his power by then (he's wearing the same outfit in the Alisia-is-going-away memory, and of course he thinks that his power made Alisia leave him). Alisia left 10 years ago. So Amata was 4-6 when Alisia left. If we assume that Alisia made the movie just before Amata was born then the time adds up.

(By the way, in the movie it seems Amata has his mom's eye color.)

I think you're right: she doesn't look any older, but she's portrayed as a grandma, and I think that's why I remembered her in that picture as "older" than she really was. Doesn't help that white-purple hair looks fairly grayish. You made a good catch with that cat-ish teruterubozu. This brings me to my crack theory du jour:
(1) skies of Aquaria was produced for the Altairian market, not the Vegan market (hence the release delay, )
(2) Mykage used it as a propaganda piece (story of hope), to set the stage for her arrival
(3) Mykage brought her over in her movie outfit so the local populace would all hail her as a messiah figure (and praise Mykage for having managed her arrival)
(4) Mykage is in fact responsible for whatever's keeping her in the test tube (keeps her as a symbol, it'd be bad if she woke up)
(5) somehow the movie nevertheless did get its eventual domestic release
(6) (optionally) some of the movie shoot happened on Altair or with an Altairian film crew, via which venue Amata knew about cats ()

If nothing else it'd be a way to explain how Mykage came to prominence and why Alisia's done up in her movie outfit.

I just noticed that in the one picture we have of her she's weaving with red thread, sigh. We've already had Zen condemn Mykage for messing with the red string of fate (it was part of how he funneled extra juice to Kagura in that invasion arc), and if Alisia is herself somehow involved in these pan-dimensional schemes then it's possibly a sly wink to the audience (like the cat probably is, too...heck, perhaps her quilt has Izumo's family tartan, ?....I kid).

I did do a double take at first because the ten years lines up with everything, except there's that 16 year one in the mix. It could be a typo or a misunderstanding, as it's the odd duck out and everything else fits together nicely around that 10-year mark. On the other hand, see above: if the film's essentially a Mykage propaganda piece -- and perhaps that's how she met the Altairian expedition, "hey, wanna be a star?", -- then the film events happening around 16 years ago, her departure happening later, and her self-cosplaying all make a certain amount of sense.

i don't know what is the importance of the headdress other than it being made out of feather. feathers usually implies from the world of atlantica, the angel world where apollonius/touma/futaba are from. silvia didn't get a crap about her angel self though.

So basically, her story is an interdimensional morality tale about the innocent girl who gets ensnared by a seedy agent who promises her stardom but once he finds that she's "used goods" he throws her as a bone for creepy, obsessed guys (Izumo, Jin)? (Now I really want to see Mykage saying "heey baby, wanna be a star?" to Alisia. XD)

As for time lines, I don't know, it appears there's a discrepancy between the novelization and the anime. In the anime when Mikono wants to buy a pamphlet of the movie Amata says they don't have one because it's more than 10 years old. In the novelization he says it's 10 years old.

Now that is interesting. Much like the Kingdom of De Alisia was over the ruins of Sangrila. Which became Deava's base of operations.

Deava and Atlandia were on opposite sides of the planet.

ReddyRedWolf: pretty sure Vena posted his own translation of the same spoilers a few pages back, they seem pretty familiar. Was there anything in the original series that looked like those rings that're all over the place in this show?

i am not sure if you are aware of this but they released perfume for characters amata, mikono, zessica and shrade. below describes how the perfume smells. considering we wonder what the heck kagura smells when he sniffs mikono or shrade, it seems both have a rosy smell in their perfume. amata does have a scent even if kagura can't smell it
this is all for marketing purpose ofcourse.
