That PV was awesome.
This show is slowly becoming my most anticipated TV anime for Spring, it seems like it will have everything I wanted from it. Now, we only need the confirmation that it will be 2 cours and the IG studio that will animate it, and we're set! |

It's just a 40 second PV, probably just composed of footages taken from the first ep so I don't know if I should proceed this way, but well, here I come. Overall, I have more or less good vibes about it, nothing groundbreaking yet but nothing negative either ... well, I'll stay neutral about the CGI quality until we see more about it, and it still looks like it will have at least a decent budget so I don't have any complaints there. But I'm really interested in what kind of thing Urobuchi is going to throw at us with this setting. Somehow, It doesn't sound like anything action heavy nor mecha focused can be possible in the long run (not to my displeasure though) ... so I'm really curious. Off topic : Come on, IG guys! why won't you make my anime adaptation Saya no Uta!!?

Hmm... we get a galactic warrior who is forced to live in a completely new and peaceful environment accompanied by a local girl? So, it's Full Metal Panic! meets (James Cameron's) Avatar then?
The PV is decent even though it's most likely just from the 1st ep like others mentioned. I have no problem with the CG, just hope that it has something special going for it storywise. I guess we'll see. Btw, shouldn't a mod change the title of this thread into Gargantia for consistency with the official title?

The PV was pretty gorgeous. The character animation in particular is very good.
Me too. I'd like to see something different from him. All I want is a solid story. It doesn't have to be dark to be good.

It's a bit annoying when most people always associate Gen Urobuchi's stories with darkness (I didn't even realized until I started to explore Gen's stories outside of Madoka Magica of course ). The new story may be serious, but it doesn't always delivers its sad moments all the time and after I watched many episodes of Psycho-Pass, I can say Gen could finally delivers a semi-lighthearted mecha story.

At least with Gen on-board, I don’t have to worry too much about this becoming another Eureka 7 AO, Aquarion EVOL, Guilty Crown or Gundam AGE (storywise). And the mechas won’t be as retarded as in Code Geass’ (giant robots that can slide fast and climb using only side-wheels on their feet ).
I think this Gargantia and Unicorn will be my last hope for decent mecha animes. Robotics;Notes does not count since it's not really from mecha genre.

It makes me wonder if it's really that difficult to make a solid ending, or is it simply too "generic" or "uninspiring" by Japanese standard? |

A fair bit of that, particularly the panning around, looks, uh, 'enhanced' with CGI. Looks way better than the mech though, goddamn that thing is ugly.

Basically it's impossible to come up with a decent ending when you're just making up the story as you go along. |

This looks very neat. The PV was impressive and very solid-looking in terms of visuals and animation quality, the music was good, and it's got Urobuchi's name involved with it. I could always go for a mech anime with a (hopefully) interesting spin on it. Consider me in for the ride!
Also, I just can NOT get enough of the character outfits. They're like this funky mix of Southwestern and Bohemian... Love it!

random speculation:
The white hair will crash landing at a laid back planet where everything is peaceful unlike the battlefield he's familiar with. There might be some initial clash of values between himself and other people. He might need to repair his vessel, and in the process learn and love the place. The series will finish up with the alien invading, killing everybody, and he escape after failing to save anyone. though it might be too cliche
