Anime that has a lead who is thinking about his/her past/having nostalgic feelings

So, basically my title says all.

I am basically looking for something where the lead is an adult or even very old and thinking about his past and the story mostly focuses on that part of life.

For me, this have been mostly portrayed very well in the Millennium Actress. Also, Tsumiki no Ie does an okay job.

Though, I asked for an anime, there is also a manga - Harukana Machi-E, which I really loved and also depicts this genre.

So, are there any suggestions for me in this kind of genre?

Though it is episodic and not a single story, Bartender has exactly what you're looking for. Most episodes focus on older characters, some as old as me, who come to Bar Eden Hall in hopes of finding a respite from the emotional troubles that plague them. Nearly always these derive from earlier life events that the character in question has never been able to resolve. Luckily there is mystical bartender Ryuu, the "glass of the Gods," who has an extraordinary intuition to pick exactly the right alcoholic concoction to soothe a weary soul. This show scores a ten on the nostalgic scale.

For a series, I'll suggest House of Five Leaves. The story revolves around a group of petty criminals, the leader of which has a complex backstory. When the group is joined by a newly-unemployed samurai, the two men develop a friendship that helps exorcise the ghosts of the past.

In Nijuu Mensou no Musume master thief Twenty Faces himself spends a lot of the show trying to undo the results of his morally-dubious research during World War II. That's only one of the themes in the show, however, which focuses primarily on the "musume," the "daughter of Twenty Faces" Chizuku, an orphaned young heiress that Twenty Faces kidnaps at the outset of the story.
