This makes Vash look like an absolute goof. Even if the visuals of the 1998 original were its biggest weakness, they still made him look cool. Knives has no threatening or chilling aspect to him. It's not whether this was CG or not in this case. If they made Vash look like this in any form, it's criminal. So it's an easy and guiltless no.

Not really sure how I feel about this. Technically it looks more than fine (good even), just a very different art style from what we're used to.

But we do need to talk about Vash's character design. What happened there? Did they de-age Vash or is this the Netflix adaptation casting?

My guess is they tried making Vash actually looks like opposite and twins to Knives.

In original, their hair color and model already different since child. Here they have relatively similar hair color and model during their childhood; won't be surprised if they ended up heavily favor Knives in redesign because his original design is a big no by 00's standard compared to Vash and, perhaps, Wolfwood that only need some tweak.

I've seen speculation that this is actually a prequel which is why Vash's design is different, which might also explain why they haven't announced any of the rest of the main cast.

I was at their AX panel, and I definitely got the vibe that this is a prequal. Nightow himself emphasized that that the tag line is "Vash the Stampede is Coming", not "Vash the Stampede is Coming back".
