This is a bit out of the topic I guess but I just wanted to say what I've seen in Katawa Shoujo particularly the school festival...

"Damn.. I never thought,that all that is sold in the stands are expensive! The cheapest I've seen is around 300 yen. That around 150 pesos in the Philippines. Imagine the prize gap.. A simple burger is around 30 pesos or 60 yen!!!"

So...if I decide to try playing this on a whim and I turn absolutely don't want to see any sex scenes, would I miss some pretty important chunks of plot? Anything that I couldn't just ask for a quick summary here, anyways? Also, why the heck am I even contemplating this when I'm a girl? >_<

I wouldn't say plot...but imo you would miss out on a hell of a lot of character development for ALL of the girls (maybe with the exception of Shizune), and especially for Rin and Hanako.

A~nd done with Hanako's route . I was glad that her drama was rather subtle instead of creating waves of anxiety or 'No, just no'-thoughts in myself as reader.

Spoiler for Hanako:

Her route was nice and the few parts of uneasyness were kept realistic and thanksfully not at a /facepalm level. Overall, I would rate her drama as good drama because it underlined her issues quite well and you felt sad for her situation and such. The playthrough felt more subtle and delicate and had nice, warm moments like the scene with Lilly, Akira, Hisao and her at the bar + the latter two playing pool. Heck, even the rather broad misunderstanding after they did the deed didn't felt forced or crappy-written as I had the same thought of "Okay... Why did they do it?" at that time before it was revealed, though the scene which lead to it was quite nice. The conclusion at the park was good and the grand final with the kiss in public was very lovely . I somehow wished there would have been more lovey-dovely moments, but am aware that it might have been too difficult with Hanako's personality mayhaps. But, her end felt too short as was surely mentioned before . i. e. the credit roll came too sudden, I think.

Outside of spoilers, Misha's few parts were nice when you saw her acting more serious (e. g. if you chose to help the student council in act 2 or 3) and the sport girl (Miki?) was also likeable. Next stop: Emi.

Yeah I know but I looked around and heard that you'd miss some stuff with it turned on(I don't know why I meant plot when I really was thinking more of characters previously).

Me being heteroromantic, I'd like to avoid watching sex scenes, no matter how tastefully they're done. If I decide to play with the scenes off, finish a route and run here asking what exactly I may have missed that was important in them, would anyone mind? >_>

I've been going through this in my spare time, and I'm about done at this stage. Great stuff for a free VN. I'm just going to comment on the last route I finished. Maybe I'll come back later to give thoughts on some of the others.

Spoiler for Emi's route spoilers:

The thing that struck me most about the Emi's route was that first opportunity to lock in her good ending, at her mother's house. It was probably the only time on any of the routes where I felt engaged as a player, and empowered to make an informed decision. As soon as the option to chase her or talk to her mom popped up, I had a eureka moment. In retrospect, I regret not donning a pair of glasses and declaring that I could see the ending.

The discussion with Motou about physics earlier in the arc, and the chats with the Nurse doled out the clues, like a good interactive story should. It was nice to get the feeling that the game had given me all the information I needed, and all I had to do was apply it to the situation. "This is it." I thought. "This is where I'm expected to prove that I've been paying attention." I like the other routes, but I don't remember having something like that happen at a decision point before. I generally stumbled into the good end through intuition, and then went back to the bad ends, which would give me insight into exactly why what I'd done was right.

The scene by the grave was very nicely done. Honestly, it had been obvious since act 2 what had happened, but the point was getting Emi to talk about it. I liked that when she said she was going to tell you "everything", she meant it. Her monologue working herself up to talk about the accident was carried off really well. Had this been a huge commercial release with voices, I would think that scene would be the LN VA equivalent of Oscar bait.

Yup, that talk with Mutou about Black Holes might seem like random filler at first, but then it actually ties into how best to approach Emi, and therefore how you can approach her at her house.

Oddly though, there are actually TWO ways to go about getting Emi's good end. If you choose to talk to her mother, you get the part where Hisao puts the advice imparted on him to good use, and you reconcile with Emi on the roof top. The other way to get the good ending though is to go after her at the kitchen. This sounds counterintuitive at first and gets you on the path to the BAD END, but then you get a "saving throw" later in the form of a choice while talking to Misha. If you are forthcoming with talking to Misha about your problem with Emi, you get a much improved reconciliation scene on the track complete with CG, which I felt was actually better than the rooftop reconciliation.

I just started playing Katawa Shoujo and I praised it... I did Lily's route and I find it romantic for a guy's taste... I love Lily and I believe she deserves to be the lead if this becomes an anime.

Much of Rin's route is emotional in nature... Like looking in your inner self.. Not much of the sex scene. I find this route kinda of wholesome in approach.

Well now I've got to go back and try that other method . I did feel like it all made sense to go talk to the mother at that point. The talk with Mutou just seemed that critical when you think about it. After that he had the choice to look at other sources around Emi like the nurse and even using that letter he had crumpled up as another perspective. I did think we were going on a BAD END route though when time was rapidly skipping. It was only thanks to Rin that things worked out since she had to force the main and Emi together to talk through this issue. Seemed more a lucky break at that point.

I'll say it was kind of painful how obvious the father being killed in the crash was. Don't know how they would have written it more subtle, but it just felt like the lead should have clued in a long time ago. Fear of losing someone close, she lost something more than her legs, her Dad is 'gone', etc. Sure, one could say it's jumping to conclusions, but it seemed like a rather safe bet. That's about the only thing that took away from that route to me is that I had to pretend like I didn't realize something pretty obvious.

Still, I did enjoy Emi's route quite a bit. Now is the key point though. Went in and dived right after the girl I was immediately drawn to from the first part of the story. Have to see if I can manage to go through the other routes without saying "rather be back in Emi's route right now" .

Spoiler for Rin Route:

Rin's route was emotionally stressful, although in a different way compared to Hanako's route. They did a good job on incorporating the meaning of art and paralleling it with Rin's own unique nature. Being unable to truly express herself with her peers or friends she lacked any form of meaningful communication. So she was at the center, an isolated and socially awkward person on a totally different wavelength from everyone making her a very lonely person. The only way she could express it was through her paintings, but even then the definition and interpretation of art made it difficult for anyone to understand her emotions. Hisao's attempt to understand Rin proved to be an interesting take on two people struggling to comprehend one another.

The art teacher was a bit of a dick though at the end. I had some suspicions he had some ulterior reason for being so enthusiastic about Rin. Sae was more reasonable, but I felt they could have done more for her as mentor for Rin. Seeing as Sae has indirectly experienced the same thing Rin is going through, on the account her artist of a husband committed suicide.

Good arc, but can be confusing to digest.

Instead of Just Lilly, why not do all of the girls with a differing storyline/scenario à la Amagami SS?

I believe that only doing Lilly route would not do the game justice, considering that each and every girls storyline were very, very well made and heartwarming in their own way.
