Finished volume 11 & 12...

Spoiler for Volume 11 quick summary:

Touma won 2 tickets to Italy through some 'lucky' draw and took Index with him. Over there, they ran into Ursula and the Amakusa gang with the latter helping the former to move to her new place.

The real story begins when the Roman Catholics attacked them, which led to Touma and Ursula boarding the [Queen's Fleet] , I think that's the translation, a magic fleet of ships made of ice.

Spoiler for Thoughts on the volume:

- Plenty of funny moments in the beginning; Because Touma doesn't know anything about Italy, Index said he could rely on her for this... And well, you can guess how that ends up

- Ursula seems like a different person compared to the last volume... A stronger and more confident girl. Her exchange with Anieze is strong proof of this, like a reverse of the 7th novel.

- Itsuwa was still under Touma's radar in this one, but her Friends from Amakusa were hiliarious in supporting her as she attempts to get Touma's attention

- The Amakusa Catholics sure are a power ally for Touma; Not only do they share the same beliefs to help those who needs help, but their unique style of magic is incredibly helpful.

- Alot of complicating words/terms in this book... And it doesn't help that they're all translated from Italian Between this and Assassin's Creed 2, I'm brushing up on my Italian history

That's it for now... Oh, and anyone else felt cheated by volume 12? Despite being the so-called the Mikoto-Touma date volume, majority of it was really spent on Accelerator and his relationship and feelings for Last Order...

I'd say it had a fair share of Touma X Biribiri and Accelerator X LO, but I actually enjoyed the non-ToumaXBiribiri interactions more in that volume.

The author really loves to introduce new terms using another languages words like the tittle names of this chapter ....

Most important is the second last one, La Regina del Mar Adriatico you'll be seeing it ALOT in this novel, in fact, it is a central part of the story.

Apparently the nickname for Venice (I think), this is a large area spell that the Roman Catholics created back when they weren't getting along well with Venice. Afraid of the Venetian Navy, the Roman Catholics came up with a counter measure should Venice ever attack - La Regina del Mar Adriatico - A weapon that could destroy Venice in an instant.

Spoiler for Details about the spell:

1. In order to prevent their own weapon from being used against them, the Roman Catholics set a restriction within the spell, allowing it ONLY to be use on Venice and nowhere else.

1. They're armed with cannons, with a maximum range of 5km. It's interesting to note that Touma was able to block one of those cannon fire, so they are mostly magic base.


2. Itsuwa was kinda cute, she spent the whole volume just giving wet towel to Touma Her friends call it the 'Towel Battle Plan', it seems that all the Amakusa gang knows that she likes him and were edging her to take stronger actions- But it was not mentioned why...

Oh I guess I should mention, aside from their leader, all the members of Amakusa seems to fear/respect Touma. Aside from single handedly stand up to 250 roman catholic battle nuns, he is also the man who had seen their priestess aka Kanzaki naked, took a blow from Nanasen, and walked away from it alive


3. Ursula gets alot more wordtime this round. Moving away from her role as the in-her-own-world helpless damsel, it's her turn to become the Heroine and take part in the rescue of Anieze and her Nuns. The Ursula in this volume is shown to be more confident in herself, she was the one that brought the Nuns together. She was also decribed to have a very 'womanly' feel about her... I suppose this means mature and lady-like?

4. In contrast, Anieze takes the role as the damsel in distress. After the failure in volume 7, Anieze and her 250 nuns were punished to work on board the Queen's Fleet. She is fated to be sacrificed in activation of the La regina del mar Adriatico. Comedy-wise, lets just say that Touma pulled a "Walking Church"stunt on her as well

In all honesty, it was Sister Angela and Lucia that were featured more than Anieze herself, throughout the entire story they were the ones who wouldn't give up and abandon Anieze. It's not all serious stuff though- There was one scene where Angela lifted Lucia's skirt for all to see, just to get everyone's attention

Well, he didn't really fight all 250 of them. He got help from Stiyl, the Amakusa, and Index. But yes, he was about to fight all of them by himself if the others didn't come.

Question - Does Touma and Accelerator confront each other in volumes 13? If so what is their encounter like? I heard they talk on the phone, but apparently they didn't know who the other was.

That's exactly what happened. All they did was talk to each other on the phone without knowing who they're talking to.

What happened was Touma called an unnamed number on LO's phone (and it was Accelerator's number). They exchanged some information and agreed to meet up. But Accelerator was lying about that since he doesn't want to get normal people involved, so he never went to meet Touma. In the end, they didn't meet each other and didn't know each other's identities.

Well, in SS1, they do kind of meet. Twice.

The first time, Accelerator saw and recognize Touma on the street, but Touma didn't see him and he didn't stop Touma.

The second time is when Accelerator pointed a gun at Touma, but Accelerator didn't know that person was Touma. Basically, Accelerator saw someone (Touma) running away and thought that person is with the enemy. And Touma, who was running away, thought the person behind him (Accelerator) is with the enemy, so he kept on running and didn't look back. Luckily, Touma said something and from that, Accelerator deduced that the person in front of him running away is not the enemy.

So in the end, they never actually saw each other's faces.

And then there's also this scene in Vol. 14 (after the battle with Terra) where Accelerator was standing a short distance away from Touma, but Touma was unconscious at that time and Accelerator never looked in Touma's direction. So again, they did not see each other. Poor Itsuwa got scared shitless, though.

Kinda feels like a let down. They build up to their encounter in volumes 12 and 13 but never meet, and there after these 'close' encounters seems far too unbelievable.

Its as if the author deliberately does this cause he has no idea what would happen were they to meet....
