The Kimura vs Mashiba title match was done through OVA.

My guess is based on the titles already announced is that Arnie vs Miyata arc will be the first to be animated.
Beyond that it's anybody's guess on how far it will go.

While I am at it I petition for this anime to have it's own mini forum within the current series section.
For that to happen we need to barrage the HNI thread everyday with post.

I still liked Ippo fights a lot. Typical underdog scenarios, but still. Takamura stuff were more like all out brawls so of course they became a fan favorite. Of course, I'm looking forward to it too.

OK here is my daily post.

Morikawa-san the author of Hajime no Ippo actually owns his own boxing gym and stands-in as second at professional matches at Korakuen hall for the last 10 years. So his art is something only a person that had actually stood there can portray. The expression of the winner as well as the one who had been beaten is also sheer realism through what he had seen at the ring.

If there's any type of an MMA manga like in the vein of Ippo, I'm sure they're going to use Korakuen Hall too, because it is a happening place for MMA too.

Also, I sorta wonder why in the manga, there' so few Korean characters considering they're a constant presence in Korakuen Hall. Can't blame him I guess, because of the language barrier.

Filipinos need to get more presence... especially after Pacquiao. I haven't caught up in Ippo recently, but I wonder if they mention Pacquiao as a real life champion.

PS- Wow, thanks for those youtube clips. Surreal seeing my mangaka hero in action.

That is not possible since in Ippo's time line their still in the 90's but alot of Filipinos do appear like the present Miyata vs RB Jr arc or the earlier Ippo vs Geddo arc.

it might be a bad ideato havemore filipino presence in the manga.

I dont want to see Ippo and miyata, and all the japenese fighters beating up on filipinos and winning against them.

Since im filipino

Heh, feed Ippo's lackeys (the frog!) to better competition.

Also, all the 'bad' guys always have a pretty good motivator it seems. I think they made almost every opponent look cool by having their own motivations.

Also note. Randy Boy Jr. looks similar to Pacqiuao, with spiky hair.

I think Ippo needs to get it's own section too. This is easily one of the most anticipated animes coming out in 2009!!

I'm all for Ippo getting it's own section.

Those youtube clips were really nice. I used to pass by Kourakuen Hall on my way to school.

How about we creating a social group.

How's "Kamogawa Gym Shower Room" sound?

We can have all the Ippo's big mara jokes there.

Shouldn't someone add the tag "New Challenger", since that's what they're calling the show in Japan to distinguish it?

Funniest part I've seen in anime was that shower scene with Takamura and Sendou.

Almost feinted.

Well, apparently at the official website, they're using it to describe the series.

New Challenger is the sub-title for this season.
It's alot better than calling it Season two.
