Eh, that's still not as dumb as Shoutmon X4 literally just being X3 holding the Star Blade. At least here, it actually involved some sort of actual change... And was just named as a modification of an existing form rather than a new Digimon alltogether...

I liked this episode. Nice to see some actual focus on Akari again, and the animation seemed particularly good, especially during the fight against WaruMonzaemon... Strange, a fight against a completely random henchman that will probably never be mentioned again, and it was one of the best animated battles we've seen in the series...

Looks like 28 will focus on Cutemon. Man, what's with all the focus on the supporting cast lately? It's almost as if Toei finally realized that maybe having Taiki being the only useful character wasn't such a great idea... Well, better late than never, I suppose

After a two-week hiatus, finally, I returned back to watch Xros Wars.

And the plot gets murkier, intricated, and better with each passing episode.

Another episode that delivers, now delving deeper upon Shoutmons' insecurities and tribulations.

It was a good call for Taiki to believe in Shoutmon and let him fight Blastmon, eavesdropping and secretly witnessing before his training sessions with Ballistamon and Beelzebumon.

The episode fleshed properly what Shoutmon wants to do in the present. His debilitating crisis from the previous episode paid on him a toll, that he kept a secret from his other comrades.
It's natural that he strives to be deserving of being the Digimon King and felt miserable for what Kiriha went unrepented to the Disk Zone.

Blastmon's finished but not totaled...

And thing is that DarkKnightmon infiltrated a spy within the Bagra Armys' ranks, and it surprises me that of all unlikely characters playing both sides of the war at DarkKnightmon's request ended being the silly-looking, Damemon, which in reality is Tsuwamon.

The plot, as I said before, has attained a new level of intricated mystery.

We don't know for sure what's DarkKnightmon after....

And Lunamon's the cutest Digimon character right after Calumon.

Well X5B was a pretty powerful force to throw out there. Also hope they use that more in the future since the theme used was a solid one. Blastmon definitely got owned though surprisingly he's still alive. Of course considering how long it's going to take him to get back to form he's out of this series in terms of fighting strength.

It seemed pretty clear that the ninja guy was that 'No-Good' one. Just had that feeling and the yellow coloring was a good hint. Besides some random digimon showing up to help push Shoutmon further so they could beat Blastmon? Yeah that wasn't too hard to figure out.

So Cutemon was a guy......so yeah digimon trap. Well at least that saving the parents part of the story was finally dealt with. Though Breakdramon was pretty underwhelming for someone assumed to have broken up the digital world. Though that story could just be made up.

Anyways seems next week will really have some major stuff going on. A good time after the powerups Taiki's team has gotten lately.

Looks like we're approaching another story-arc climax battle, as Tactimon promulgates at the conclusion for this episode.....

That the Bagra Army is soon deploying their mass destructive, secret weapon to deal with Xros Heart.

Another tense climax approaches, and a new ally is tossed into Xros Hearts' ranks in the form of Spardamon.

Spoiler:

A new Digi-Xros form for Shoutmon X4 that allows it to fight with weapons in both hands, as Spardamon digi-Xros into a blade for use.

Quite generic and simplistic, since the better Xros'es to my taste have been Shoutmon X4K(night) and Shoutmon X4B.

Things that I definitely liked about this episode were the facts that Akari's character was put to use in this episode, since her character background and present haven't been explore from the eleventh episode.

Her love for sweets, her feelings for Taiki, and her indomitable spirit to help the Sweets Zone enabled her to lift the entire team's morale after falling trick to WarMonzaemon's deceit.

And how can anyone would not cuddle for Cutemon's kawaii-ness, although I'll dread if she sings with that terrible voice of hers?

Finally the classic 'short return to the real world' episode will come next week.

Did find it funny how easily Nene can get Kiriha to take action. While she's aligned with Taiki's group now clearly not a negative relationship. Sorry Zenjiro .

Finally all the code crowns are owned so things can get moving. Now the big danger with Darknightmon (did not expect the brother development ) and fighting what is coming next. Guess this means that Darknightmon plans on taking down his brother since he did tell that ninja guy to continue destroying them from the inside.

But wow Tactimon's power-up was pretty insane. I mean sure X5B is stronger than X5, but still taking on X5 and the current Greymon combo was pretty nuts. Though pretty easy to interfere with his major attack since it requires a few moves before working, way too slow.

This episode's climax battle was just an apetitizer or prologue to the main course for the next one, that's going to signal the conclusion of another, major story-arc.

Out of all characters whether be human or digimon, I absolutely enjoyed both Cutemon and Dorulumons' backgrounds, followed close by Kiriha and Nene.

I started to quickly picked-up interest in Xros Wars once Dorulumon and Cutemons' motivations became freshly clear at the first episodes of the series.

I do wish that they have expanded more upon their pasts and relationship, and that they had touched upon Cutemons' quest for his parents a little more in the episodes in-between the ninth one and this one.

However, I still I got a smile of satisfaction at how the writers properly developed his character on this episode, letting to conclude one out of other five plot points left to resolve.

Breakdramon's design, I have to be honest, it wasn't a breakthrough. After all, if Tactimon meant a super weapon buried beneath the Sweets Zone, I thought at first it had to be some sort of Milleniumon.

Nevertheless, I was very impressed by its "Gravity Press" attack that literally tampers with the magnetic, gravity force field of an entire area laying flat to waste. This is a type of attack that I get Evangelion-esque vibes from it.

I believe the writers did not want this episode's battle to fully escalate out of proportion, because they intended to focus more upon Cutemon's struggle at saving his parents. That, and because the next episode promises a true, full-scale battle war against Tactimon.

Aside that we get some gorgeous shots of Nene, and particularly those involved only both she and Zenjirou alone together, we got for suprise that Cutemon's a cuddly, and sweet trap.

Didn't see it coming that "she's", in fact" a boy.

A bit surprising that they'd throw evolution into things now. Still nothing wrong with a classic golden digimon. Well they definitely needed something like that since they couldn't possibly fight against Tactimon with just normal Shoutmon. Though wonder what kind of insane combinations we're in store for now if they evolve Shoutmon then throw in Digi-Xros.

Surprised they are going to leave the sidekicks behind at least for now. Geeze Omnimon you have the extra boost to change up Taiki's outfit but can't let two people walk through an already opened portal?

Definitely has a lot of season 1 feel to this episode. The whole battle out of phase digimon that people can't see, time having passed so the world is in worse shape than it was before, etc.

Felt kinda loss when 2 of them not able to return.
The digivolve was a joy and reminds me of past season.
I don't think we will see much more of digivolve as digicross is the main theme.

Because it's not a sequel or another show, it's just the turn point every season of Digimon got ?

Season 1 : Kairi joins / return to normal world.
Season 2 : Ken joins / Jogress digivolve.
Season 3 : New tamers / trip to digital world.
Season 4 : Kouichi joins / Lucemon appears.
Season 5 : Ikuto joins.

They add characters, throw away the mid-boss, give new powers or change the "battlefield".

Season 6 is just doing the same.
