*Meanwhile at J.C. Staff HQ*

J.C. Staff President: ...and now regarding to Shakugan no Shana...do we have enough for a 26 ep series?

Writer: ...sadly no...we only have enough for 24 eps...unless you wish to delve into the novels more...

Animator: ...well we could just add more shana-fanservice...that could easily cover the missing 2 eps...

J.C. President: ...okay that settles it...more loli-fanservice of shana...those agree?

Writer: ...i second...

Animator: ...second...

Director: *nods*

Advisor: ...nay...

*silence*

J.C. Staff President: ...you're fired...

I watched ep. 20.
So, Wilhelmina come to kill Yuji, so that Reiji Maigo move to other location. That's why she come. My question: Shana will save him before it's too late?
I'll find out on ep.21!

A pity, because that girl is just.........wow. I would seriously leave darkness just for her....if she was real of course

Well the anime is licensed so that means the novels/manga are too right? Hopefully in time I can pick up copies at CHAPTERS or something.

What a pity. I wonder if this is where they'll just leave the anime at, in the Ball Masque arc. Seems like it.

And unfortunately, translated Japanese novels are really rare compared to anime and manga, IIRC. I do hope the company does make an exception for the Shana novels, though.

Are you sure about that? Seems at least some places still have it scheduled for 26 episodes. But, if you want the biggest "hint", view the HTML source of the J.C. Staff Shana page - notice there's a "story26()" function (placeholder page even exists ). So... all signs point to 26 episodes, as far as I can tell.

From this entry on moonphase for episode 21, it seems to say there are 3 episodes left: "残り3話".

I don't think there's even been any word out at all about a US release...

The license announcement was made at Anime Expo 2005, back in July.

Yeah, it was announced as licensed a while back, but as for the actual US release, there has really been no word. >.> I hate it when US subbers license anime just to lay claim to it and leave it on the back burner (or in the fridge in some cases) for a ridiculously long time. Have we even heard anything about the US release of Erementar Gerad? That was also prelicensed by Geneon a long time ago, and I haven't heard a word about it ever since. >.>

Yay, I'm actually kinda... yay!
Spoiler for DVDまがじん1:
I had almost given up on the first press goodie even though my vol.1 had a sticker on it indicating that I got the first pressing. It's surprising what a simple complaint to the amazon.co.jp service department can do: got it shipped by DHL and received it only a few days later. Today was a good day.

Patience. Anyway, Geneon does excellent releases. I'll surely be getting their Kannazuki no Miko. Besides, I'm not really in a hurry to buy those. The DVD market in the U.S. is still quite overly saturated.

You mean they haven't even started releasing that series yet?! That series was finished up, like, long ago. I'm glad I'm not waiting for the US release of SnS. >.>

Yup, actually, you're right - a little more searching, and I found that they've solicited DVD 8 as the final volume; at 3 episodes/disc, that'd put it at 24 episodes. If it were 26, it'd surely end up on 9 discs. I guess there was a change of plans somewhere down the line and nobody bothered to tell the J.C. Staff webmaster.

As for the R1 DVD release, if I were to guess, I'd say early 2007. It'd be pretty unusual (but not impossible) for the North American DVDs to come out before the entire Japanese run is over. A year and half after airing is about the soonest you ever see a series on R1 DVDs (although I suppose that may continue to get shorter as time goes on).

Kannazuki no Miko vol.1 is slated for release in the U.S. on 2006/04/25.
However, I'm still debating with myself whether the R2s will be enough. :3 Shana = own.

@relentlessflame: I think the Aa! Megami-sama! TV was released in the U.S. just 7 months after the airing of the show in Japan.

Let's just hope the success of the first season will lead to additionnal series, just like Full Metal Panic or Sekai no Monshou. After all it's easy money for everyone, so the odds are high.
