Nope, the Q series is still ongoing. After volume 12 the title was changed but it is still considered a direct continuation.

if i remember correctly, Magdala's author is the same author of spice and wolf right, i haven't try it yet but what are you guys opininon about Magdala, is it worth a read ??

It's definitely worth a read if you like Spice and Wolf. Teh_Ping-sama even like it more than Spice and Wolf. Just don't expect lots of action

Yes, but don't expect any magical alchemy like full metal alchemist. The alchemy we're talking here is purely chemistry and mettalurgy, and the transmutation circle is distillation and compunding. Of course, don't forget the politics, religion, ideology, and (what else) economy. Just don't dive in expecting something like a shounen story. You'll be severely dissapointed if you do.
