Five years after the Jail Scaglietti Incident, Knight Carim Gracia of the Saint Church unveiled a dire warning that foretold of Mid-childa’s destruction using her power, Profeitin Shrifti.

A mysterious group of powerful individuals was searching for the Jewels of the Star, nine dangerous Lost Logia that equaled three Jewel Seeds each. The first encounter between Teana and Subaru with the mysterious group ended with Subaru suffering from a grievous injury that left her dying. Though Teana managed to seek treatment for her best friend in time, Subaru would probably no longer be able to join the Armed Forces.

Chrono and the Aces were told of the puzzling warning by Knight Carim, and the arrival of an Intelligence officer, Leona, and her company confirmed part of the information that they had. Still, there was too little information to confirm anything else. In light of the event, Chrono negotiated with Leonidas von Khrull, the new Lieutenant-General, and after completely overwhelming him, was permitted to form Escutcheon, the external force to deal with the strange group. Leona’s group was also enlisted to fill the frontline.

The first attack came almost immediately, and Chrono ordered the strangers to be apprehended. At that time, Leona came down seriously ill, and was harshly ordered by Chrono to step down as captain temporarily. Something seemed to be going on between Leona and Chrono, a secret that was known only to the two of them.

During the fight, one of the strangers, a man called Grandia Estrediel Paladien, was caught by surprise by Signum and Teana. Yet, he managed to escape by summoning Minions to his aid, magical black hounds that could replicate when damaged. Signum and Tesla gave Grandia a chase, which brought them to a clearing in the forest where Grandia offered to duel Signum, which she accepted. Meanwhile, Kratos and his comrades managed to defeat the Minions after a tough, exhausting confrontation. Hayate told them that a massive energy was detected from the dam and was heading there.

The duel between Signum and Grandia continued with no clear victor. Then, at the last moment, Grandia used a technique in which he attacked with five flaming dragons. Yet, it had been a ruse to cover his escape. Nearby, Grandia’s sister manipulated the weather, summoning heavy rain to fall and unleashing a torrential burst of water as her offensive. The flame dragons were extinguished, forming a thick cloud of smoke and fire, thus allowing Grandia to slip away.

At the final moment, Signum attacked with Sturm Falke, only to be greeted by Sharazad's raging wave. It would have consumed both she and Tesla had Hayate not arrived at the critical time and shielded the three of them. Yet, it was too much for Hayate to bear, and her shield weakened rapidly.

What was the fate of them three, facing the furious wrath of nature, with no apparent way to escape?

Okay, that was cheap, but it summarizes everything up till now for those that have not read it from the start.

I could not find Chapter Five (I missed it before) to read, so this summary helped a lot. Maybe later when you update your links I will go back and read it.

Now ... for the real meat.

Chapter Six—Burden of the Past

Wow, this is great. I'm not much of a reader (I dont read books, since I have no time), so to feel so immersed into a story I am not watching, but reading is quite a surprise to me whenever it happens, and your writing has done just that. But of course, to not mention works of Nighty, Lowe, Aaron, USB, Kagerou and others would not be fair, as those have done the same for me.

Ah~ I wish I had even half of your writing skills. It is quite stressing when you have a story to tell, yet you cannot put it into words.


Hmm, I would speculate that Leona is either the Princess herself, or one of the Sisters, who decided to kill the Templars for reasons only she knows of.

Scene II is certainly my favorite scene so far, same as Aaron. Hayate did an awesome job to repel the huge mass of water, certainly showing what she is capable of. And later, she finally realized that her combat skills are terribly lacking.

Funny that I felt a sense of nostalgia when Hayate was touching Signum's cheek, and you made us remember how sweet Hayate was during A's... funny because I had nearly forgotten how much Hayate cares for her Knights, and how close they are - none of this was present in StrikerS. This alone has made my day.

In Scene III, nice explanation about the feeling of magic and all, but when Fate said that spells are commonly programs stored in Devices... I know this was said in A's, but that is not entirely accurate, since mages can also cast spells without Devices. This would mean that spells are not exactly programs - however, TSAB computers can read spells as such, and can also create them as such. It can be said that the TSAB computers and Devices are tools used to make sense out of magic and spells, and to translate them into readable and probably understandable computer languages and programs, respectively. This is what makes sense to me, at least, since it is a typical approach for understanding and reading intangible stuff, such as power and speed, using numbers and mathematics.


Time is up for me at the office, and so is my time for reading. I dont have much time to do stuff during the nights, since my friends keep coming to my house everyday. I really need to continue this soon, though, as it is very good. And there is some other stuff I have on queue, mainly Kagerou's story.

Well, that answer is simple. Everyone who would listen (Fate), is currently DEAF. Having a point blank air concussion from a large sonic boom screw up your hearing, and then having ANOTHER storm of loud noise complicate matters means that Bardiche can't even be heard.

But don't worry, her hearing will recover by the next sequence I've got planned out.

An aspect of air combat no one probably has ever thought of. Just how high can those mages fly before they can't fly any higher? Personally, I think that while barrier jackets are good for filtering the air, and controling the air around the mage, they aren't exactly space suits. And Oxygen deprivation can be an underestimated foe.

This is actually an excellent point, one which is worth addressing. Oi, Keroko-san, IS something on how Jackets work with low oxygen, eh? I know I've seen something related before...

Actually, I think you learn just as much about someone's character by looking at their "hidden" or lesser-seen side as their normal self. Now I'm not saying Signum needs to break down every other chapter, but a rare tear shows just how human she's become over how many thousand years. Recent loosening-up notwithstanding.

Foy Rokker's problematic post has been beefed! I realized I classified too much data, and that hurt the post really badly. Managed to shift more down, and added more that I forgot.

The impetus behind Foy was actually to make a character atypical of a hotblooded Macross pilot, and so I went with challenging myself to make a real schzophrenic gender-confused sentokijin.

I like it. The flow of the conversation flew nicely, and LILA was actually a nice touch. The idea of a synthesis of multiple micro-AIs, which are naturally needed to begin with in a sense like normal PCs, worked quite well here.

Though there are some canon issues... the idea of Yuuno placing among top mages is a little off-hand. He probably is a top support/barrier mage, but otherwise, he ranks about above average. If his skills is static since 9 years old, the rookies after StrikerS are already better than him. Then again, it's not improbable for Yuuno to improve his skills, but his placing seems a little too high up.

And Jail NEVER broadcasted anything about Alhazred to the public. The only person he mentioned it to was Fate, and long before that, Yuuno had already theoratized the possibility of Jail using the Cradle and that it might've been Alhazred's.

@ATC: For the Lance Rifle, how about the following? Reduce max range to 5000 meters, typical deployment range 2500, and reduce the speed to about 200m/s. You'll have a projectile speed of 720km/h, which is very fast and while dodgeble (...if you have mad skills or are Ratsel), does not seem too haxed. To me, at any rate.

Also, JF-704 is using a NOTAR system. Like you said, when you fail, you fail hard. XD

@Lowe: OFM does have their own bar. Notice that it's Foy Rokker, not Roy Fokker, when all the other Cleric-Knights were named exactly/using homophonical mispellings. It was a hint right from Day 1 that all is not what it seems.

Trust me, Foy is nothing of Roy, and is one of my most original OCs ever, however mindblowing that is.

For a sniper rifle, that's just too slow. In fact, I believe 200 m/s is around hand gun velocity.

Now what I could do, is make it's muzzel velocity VARIABLE.

That is to say. Since the propellent mechanism is plasma that was taken by stripping the air and making the bolt, the longer the bolt is charged, the more plasma there is to provide that 'push'. The bigger the push, the faster the bolt travels. Instant tradeoff mechanism.

In this fashon, I could go with the following.

A snap shot (or bolt) has little power, low velocity, and cheapo range. It's good enough at point blank range to surprise the enemy.

A charged bolt, or LANCE shot, would have higher velocity on par with typical rifles and sniper rifles. Extended range to match modern heavy sniper rifle counterparts. (Remember, no mass means no bullet drop, and that helps a great deal with range.)

And of course, it's all but FINISHER move would still retain the max qualities of the Lance. 2000 m/s velocity, 20,000 meters range in optimal conditions. (Remember, even though you CAN shoot twenty thousand meters, you aren't very well going to have many target oppertunities for an LOS weapon unless you or the target is elevated above the horizon. Which was why typical engagement range was 5000 meters.)
The 'Hyperlance Extension' would then be aptly named because the bolt travels at hypersonic velocity and has an extended range several times its weaker shot counterparts.

Thus, you get a tactical tradeoff too with that high velocity shot. To fire a hyperlance extension shot requires you to snap (into a slimjim) three cartridges. Which should light you up like the fourth of july on the magical detection scopes of anyone close enough for the high velocity to negate natural post-shot evaision response.

Kind of like how Nanoha picked up Dieci's cannon strike just before Longarch sounded the alarm.

So for the best velocity, range, and power, the shooter sacrifices surprise at closer ranges where it would OWN the competition to a HAXX level everyone's so worried about.

However, I would still expect that anyone who hasn't learned about the Lance (There is only one built into the Multiform Rifle mode of battery device right now) may not realize they need to move the FORK out of the way IMMEDIATELY when they sense that energy, just to throw off the shooter.

This comes at the very moment when I'm getting ready to write the scene that defines the Lance Rifle being used against an opponent in its mission environment: Long Range precision shooting.


All it depends on now is writing it so that I recognize the tradeoff in different advantages based on how it is used.
