Bravo, well done episode.

The animation was really watchable.

Raito's instant decent into mania is amazing and convincing.

Definitely following this series, especially as I havent read the manga its 100% fresh to me.

To be honest I really wasn't all that excited about Death Note anime. I read the whole manga series but I thought it's not good animation material.

However, now that I know Tamaki's voice actor voices Light...

I am kind of curious.

I'm extremely pleased with the anime, so far. I've read the manga, and I had doubts at how well it'd transfer to anime-form, but... I'm incredibly happy.

And I'm proud of Mamo-chan xD He's doing a good job as Light.

i dunno if this is mentioned anywhere yet but Death Note is gonna be 37 episodes, which i find kinda weird for the odd number XP

Not any groups are gonna do Fansubs for it yet... unless you want to make a huge contribution in paying Dattebyo in subbing out Death Note X)

it's gonna cost : $10-$15 per minute for subtitling, so yah you do the math so it's gonna be around $225-$300 per episode and there 37 X) if you need the contact imformation i can provide you with it too ^^

Are you serious? I thought they would at least spice it up somewhat.

37 is not all that weird, it's 2 short of 39 which is 3 seasons. Maybe they'll throw in two recap eps or something, I dunno.

Crap, I want to watch this now! Gah, who cares about leaving in 20 minutes, I'll watch it and then go...

But I think Madhouse will still not beat BONES/Sunrise in terms of stability, although they can make some pretty damn awesome stuff.

EDIT: And this thread so needs its own forum

No I was just predicting from the story in the manga.. They wouldn't make it THAT boring, especially when the first episode is good.

...

I found the manga -> anime to be awesome. The added and shuffled scenes made the story move along at a smoother pace, in my opinion. The lack of colors is unsettling, but I suppose it's appropriate for Death Note. I think the added scene where Light jots names down like mad is the best of episode 1, because of the dramatic music playing the background. I am so going to get the OST when it comes out.

...Am I the only one who looks at Death Note and thinks X (the TV series that was also animated by Madhouse)? Gloom, doom and deaths... Yep, it's all there.
