Welcome to the new Winter banner contest. You've seen the cool banners we have at the top of our forum. Some of you remember the last banner contest. Others have wondered where those cool banners come from. In case you didn't know, they were made by people on this forum. Now is your chance to make a banner that will grace our forum for at least the next season.

Banners may contain anime artwork from any source including your own art. They must be anime related and they must be appropriate for our forum. The theme for this banner contest is the season of Winter. That means snow, Christmas and anything else that fits with the season. Feel free to use your imagination. I'm hoping that we'll see some original artwork this year.

The rest of the rules:

All entries must have a Winter theme.
The edges of all banners must blend into the top bar. Please see below for details.
All entries must be in GIF, PNG or JPG format. Remember, we want the banner to be able to load quickly for the sake of 56Kers so no animations will be accepted and filesize should be kept to 25K or less.
Each member may only enter 3 banners maximum. If you go over this number you need to specify which banners to use or else your last 3 entries will be used.
Members will only have until 07:00:00 Tue Dec 14 2004 in GMT. Check Time Zone Converter for information on what time this is near you. (In EST this is 2am Tuesday morning... or really late Monday night. Actually that is about the same time I posted this thread. )
This thread is to be used for banner entries only. Nominations in this thread will be ignored. However it is the place to tell each other which banners you like, I just won't count it as a nomination.
After this thread closes, in exactly 7 days this thread will close and a new thread will be created in which everyone will nominate their favorite banners. Nominations will only run for 3 days, until December 16-17th, 2004 at which time the nomination thread will be closed.
At this time the 10 most popular banners will be put up on a poll for the entire forum to vote for since more people respond to polls that don't require them to post. Each contestant will only be listed once regardless of how many banners he entered.
All votes made by people who registered after December 7 will be disqualified to reduce cheating. We also retain the right to eliminate other questionable votes and ban anyone who we suspect of rigging this vote.
The poll will close on December 21 after exactly 5 days of voting. Polls close automatically so please check the poll for information concerning when it will close in your timezone. Note that is the first day of Winter, so hopefully we'll have the winning banners up very quickly.
The three most popular banners will be chosen to rotate at the top of our forum.
Of these three, One is the winner and the other two are runner ups. The winner is the contestant whose entry got the greatest number of votes. As recognition of the accomplishment this winner will recieve a special prize TBA after I poll the other moderators and find out who is putting up the prize this year.

Disclaimers:

I may disqualify any banner deemed to be offensive or inappropriate.
No moderators (of any rank) are allowed to win the grand prize. If by some stroke of brilliant artistry one of us does win, the prize will go to the first runner up.
All submitted banners become property of AnimeSuki and may be used now or in future years without asking your permission.

If you want to use the AnimeSuki font, there it is.

The right and left edges of the banner must blend into the top bar. That means the very edge of the template below must not be covered by any image or else it will look like it has been cut off. If a mistake is made on edge blending we will all try to point it out so that it can be fixed. Banners whose edges are messed up will be ineligable.

I love these banner contests Animesuki organizes

It's nice to see an increasing amount in the entrees (as seen last season, we had quite a few!). Hopefully a good amount enters this season, and no voting-mishaps happen. Oh, well here goes. I'm lookiing forward to seeing everyones entrees! (if you have any constructive criticism or comments please tell!

the only thing I can think of... is that you might need to look for images of the same artist, or better yet the official artist. because using images from 2 different artist kinda looks...."bleh"

So the contest is back! ^__^ Im a bit afraid of making a crappy banner, I havent touched Corel for so long, but what the hell, lets give it a shot, hopefully Ill have one tomorrow ^^.

what did i do if not a tsukimie banner?

hmm. official art... well... i guess i COULD.

and to answer the winter-themed question:

there is a large snowflake in the background, with others hiding

ah... .... but i can change the banner so it is more obviously tsukihime ^^

text really needs work. any suggestions on text?

to answer the size question:
your picture is currently 24.21 KB (24793 bytes)

animesuki looks at the size in bytes, and the 25k limit refers to 25,000 bytes. you are under by 207 bytes.

The only criticisms that I might make is that some of your snowflakes obscures people's faces and the moon seems rather out of place. Why do you have the moon there?

Well actually the only reason I put the moon there was becasue it looked really cool having it as the background of the yellow words "Animesuki forums". It looked "Hollywood" like the first time I put it there..... Ok.. bad imagery, but the idea of a moon back there was just a random idea that popped in my head at that moment. Now that it's stuck in my head, I'm gonna need to sleep before I can come up with another idea.

Personally though, right I now I think having the moon in the back looks cool!
