My mother and her community a few years ago had to fight a local idiot that wanted to make his property a toxic waste dump. Quite likely would have poisoned the water supply.
True, it isn't like he would simply stop to exist, still the outcome would had been worse is someone else had been killed by his action insted of him alone.

How so? You've got to die sometime, and as far deaths go, bike accident's pretty cheap. Cheaper than a disease lingering for years.

You are not taking into account all what it costs in an advanced society to "produce" an adult citizen.

Cost of first response, cost of uninsured ER, cost of fire/police, cost to other people if accident involved others. Insurance rates affected by accident rates. Emotional trauma - family, friends, witnesses.

Also add any damage to public property such as guardrails.

I am. But as I said, you've got to die sometime, it's just a matter of when. And at 55 is way better than just out of college. Just into retirement would be best, but 55 isn't bad. Think of all the conditions age brings on he'll never have to deal with.

Those are fair enough, but subtract all the money he'd have cost by aging. I was going to say that maybe it's different for you since your retirement funds and healthcare insurance have less government in them, but if you want to count insurance rate it's irrelevant. And again, there's the cost of his evenrual death.

What new laws? The helmet law obviously didn't save him, so what are they going to do? And how responsible for the stupidity of others should we hold him?

My band director used to say "Every rule exists because at some point, someone did something idiotic and screwed it up for the rest of us".

The improper reading would make it sound like serious population control gone wrong.

That is so screwed up. At some point you come to realize that truth is stranger than fiction.

Again with the splitting up of California into smaller states. This time it is the South Eastern rural parts that want to break away. Last time it was the northern rural parts that wanted to get away from the cities. First time it was the Mexican Southern Californians that wanted to distance themselves from the Northern Anglo population.

I did my History Thesis paper on state secession movements, mainly focusing on California (specifically the State of Jefferson, and the last time they wanted to break up the state in the early 1990s that ended up lost in committee after going to a three way split the media termed (Northern California = Logland, Central California = Fogland, Southern California = Smogland))
