So, chapter 39 is scanlated and things are scalating pretty quickly. I can't help but to think that there is something about Yuuko's dad (isn't he like an old Teichii? some sort of relation would nicely imply why Teichii could see her from the get go).
It's funny that we "only" have got 39 chapters so far, content wise the story feels a lot heavier.

I knew it was coming...I knew what was going to happen...yet I felt so much damn rage, plus I just want Yukariko to die. I rarely feel like this about a character in a series but this time...are we supposed to feel sorry for her? Pity for her because she made bad choices and is regretting them? Nah, fuck that...I feel nothing but contempt toward that bitch and while I know it won't happen, I just want her to die...at the hands of Shadow Yuuko please...oh and be sure to break her legs too while we're at it. There are Bad Choices...and then there's having your sister's legs broken and then dumped in a sealed room till she slowly dies in order to "spare her of falling to the plague".
God...so much rage right now. |

Chapter 40 is out and...................my prediction was close but off though that made it a lot worse to read. I expected Yukariko was preparing to be sacrifice and the villagers mistakenly took Yuuko. Instead, Yukariko sacrifice her own loving sister due to superstition. It then led to her father committing suicide and then learning the truth that there is no stopping the plague and that she sacrifice her sister for nothing. Regret settles in, but even more is guilt. Guilt that she done that to her sister, guilt that what her sister said was true, and even more guilt when she saw the dead body of the sister she loves hopelessly crouching on the ground.
......................I read enough history and taken too many humanity courses to realize this is nothing special. Fear drives people to do things they will regret and have guilt for their entire life. History repeats itself over and over again, yet mankind will keep on repeating the same mistakes. Instead of falling for superstitions about plagues, learn them, learn how to fight it, and most importantly learn how to survive. Albert Einstein said "insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results." Sigh...............really, sometimes when it comes to dire situations, throw out idea of superstitions out of your head. Reality is what to focus on, not superstitions. |

No need for spoilers once it has been release in a manga website. Reconciliation sounds good, but that is only when there are simple conflicts. In this scale, this is about asking for forgiveness over murder. The future chapters will go as you expect. Sisters will meet face to face with the younger sister grieving for forgiveness and the older sister listening and forgives her out of love. Though many anime fans will dislike my comment, I say the anime should have waited to follow the manga route. Despite the series being a comedy and romance aspects most of the time, I think it will serve as a good example for viewers to learn the mistake of falling into superstitions.
I really wish there are more anime out there that teaches and shows the mistakes about the past and what to do to avoid them. |
