Proxy problem!
So, I'm living at my college dorms and here we have a campus wide LAN network. To access internet the proxy server requires authentication(username and password).
Therefore, applications which require direct internet access do not work. Like my Microsoft Security Essentials won't update, same goes for Adobe and also can't download downloadable content of games. Also, I can't play games online because the gaming platforms won't work Please, if anyone knows how to make the above things work I will appreciate it.

I think the proxy information would be limited to the IP addresses of the proxy server, and that the problem the OP has is that the authentication is done through a web page which is why those programs that require direct connections can't get through, so unless the people in the IT department would allow those programs to gain access (which I would highly doubt) the OP would be SOL
