I saw a lot of people praising the Xbone for the whole "Indie support"... but what most people seem to have forgotten is that the PS4 does this as well... and if I understand it right, Sony's console will do it from the beginning, unlike Microsoft's console, which will do it "later on".

Rather than that, I see people getting carried away with it the same way they did with the family share plan. With that, they actually believe Microsoft would let them share games with ten people. For this, they seem to think every Xbox can now develop big AAA games.

Doubt microsoft has thought it though, given they're PR didn't come out with more juicy "laymen computer speak."

"Our vision is that every person can be a creator. That every Xbox One can be used for development. That every game and experience can take advantage of all of the features of Xbox One and Xbox LIVE," said Xbox chief product officer Marc Whitten. "This means self-publishing. This means Kinect, the cloud, achievements. This means great discoverability on Xbox LIVE. We'll have more details on the program and the timeline at gamescom in August."
If this is true than why wasn't this originally part of the XBone vision?, every time I read about MS going back on their policies I look out for sentences like this one, which for some reason no one seems to notice the PR oozing from each sentence and claims that MS actually did this because they care about the Indie Devs or the gamers. It's like dealing with politicians can't trust anything they say -_-'

To be fair (to the decent people at microsoft) they did put out a game that involved making your own little RPG game in a sort of micraft/mod-esque way with overly dramatic mapping tools. The heart of the issue is that when it came to actual developers they haven't given two shits for years.

Why several people are enthusiastic about it(in this thread)? Didn't MS already have self publishing kit called XNA?
Is it the improvement of XNA? Is it something totally different?

In case someone may not know XNA, XNA lets you develop your own Windows game. You can also port the project to XBox 360. The kit is free. If you want to publish it, MS charges you $$$$.

If you are an amateur developer, the task looks easier. If you develop games for living, it may not be good enough. I heard some developer think it's an useless toy, because it uses C# instead C++.

XNA has also been completely abandoned by Microsoft on Windows 8 (and I reckon the same will happen on the XB1).

Instead they want people to make games Windows 8 Apps and, given that we know that the XB1 is capable of running those, I'm guessing that this "self-publish" thing will use those APIs instead of any proper access to the gaming hardware.

Mocking Shadowrun? Hand over your nerdcreds.

That aside, with the way they want to cram kinect down our throats, I don't even see them release a kinect-less version in the future unless sales are really going to bomb. Which they won't.

Does this mean 2K Sports could make returns in NFL? To this day, I loved NFL 2k5 more than the recents Maddens.

I agree with most what this dude said except Call of Duty.

Maybe an improvement of 2-4 frames per second, with a temperature increase of 3-4 celcius.

Are you excited for that?

They wont even be 2-4 more frames. 7%, 53 MHz, more GPU clock speed will not make any difference. Just that the One will get warmer, noisier, and consume more power.

Not even that I'm betting. 53MHz will be good for about jack squat. Maybe a little less stuttering than you would have with the original clock speed... maybe 1 fps gain in a few games, 2 if you really push for optimizations, but not even enough change to do anything particularly important to the heat generated by the chip.
