Finally there is another non-tsundere KugiRie character and also someone that I could take a liking to. Rise is a nice girl. I also like Shadow Kuma. Compare to the other Shadows this guy was more serious and philosophical.
However the pacing in ep 10 was just all over the place, and everything did feel somewhat rushed.

It's Rise's huge change in character from the quite type before her dungeon conquer and after it. Well she become more open or flirty towards Yu after that incident. Chie is still the same all to friendly while Yukiko being quite or passive type. So the clingy type which is Rise is easily to be spot on.

I won't call it miscasting though, it's not like that if a seiyuu does not voice his/her most typecasted voice that he/she is immediately considered miscasted. Some seiyuus have a nice variaty of voices, but most of the time they don't get the chance to use it because they won't get picked for a different type of voice.

In some ways I had hoped Rise would get a whole episode, but suppose this was for the best overall. She did get plenty of background in the previous one which helped. Not like Yukiko who was a pretty blank canvas going into her rescue episode.
Does feel like they are hinting or teasing at a Rise ending. I mean Narukami definitely got plenty of chances to hold onto Rise and even Izangi helped keep Himiko steady. Damn though Shadow Kuma was one crazy enemy. Just his presence was death.

So now we find out where the budget actually went for that opening:
http://twitter.com/#!/P4_A/status/145530001482199041 They hired actual dancers and made the clothes and filmed the episode 9 opening with real people. Then they went back and used that footage to animate it. Except unlike Angel Beats which did the same thing and looked expensive, this didn't look like $$$ was put into it. |
