"Cocktail". Chief director Jr returns from England. He starts hitting on Tae and Tani happens to see this along with another teacher Kanezaki. Jr abruptly decides to throw a new year party. Kato, Tani, Tae, and Kooriyama attend the new year party thing with Kanzaki not showing up for it. Jr starts being obnoxious at the party after drinking especially to Tani. Tani goes to the bar where he orders something strong to drink from bartender Harima. Before he opens his mouth Harima takes him to the bathroom and tells him to keep his part time job a secret. Tani is told some women gossip about Jr from Harima so he keeps quiet about the part time job. In the end Tae leans on Hario and Tani runs away crying like last week. Then harima asks Tae if she did it on purpose and she asks what is he talking about

Since it's just the first day it only has the first page, by the looks of it they will release the first 30 pages leading up to the release of Volume 1 on the 28th Feb.

It could just be that she does not want to get into a relationship for fear of what she has presumably gone through before. But she doesn't seem that interested in getting into a relationship any time soon.

"Aspen Extreme". The four girls (tenma, mikoto, sawachika, and akira) go skiing. The girls are surprised by how well it was planned out then tenma says it was yakumo who made preparations. Tenma mentions it would have been nice to come with Karasuma. The other girls agree saying that their 2nd year is almost over and she hasn't progressed much. Tenma is actually a great skier which surprised everyone including a group of guys who happen to be around. The group of guys skiing try to flirt with the girls but after their performance the girls leave. Sawachika wasn't interested but compliments their skiing ability. Tenma then says she's not satifed with just that. Sawachika is a little surprised and says what if karasuma saw her. Tenma says since Karasuma isn't around it's ok and if he was they would be together.

She goes on and runs into Karasuma who is dressed up as a snowman. Akira didn't like being upstaged She runs away in fear of being seen and hated by Karasuma. Sawachika comes over and gives the "You reap what sow speech". She offers to help her out just this once, then the three of them form 大スキ "I love you" for Karasuma to see. Somehow it gets turned into "太スギ which means something like "you are getting fatter". Karasuma sees it and agrees saying that over new year's he let himself go a bit. Tenma tries to correct the mistake but it doesn't work. He then forms ア・リ・ガ・ト・ウ "thanks" and leaves. Tenma then says he's wonderful and the other 3 girls call it a day since it's getting cold. Chapter ends.

Yeah, I noticed that a couple days ago. So far it doesn't seem too bad, but there are some translations I disagree with. Most irritably of all:

Love　what a weird word!”

What Tenma really says is

「好き　　　なんてフシギな言葉」

The key here is the word "fushigi", which according to my dictionary means: "wonder; miracle; strange; mystery; marvel; curiosity;". I think 'weird' is poor choice of wording, and the exclamation mark added at the end makes her sound (to me) like some idiot ditzy blonde American high school girl (like, totally!). I know I'm being pedantic about this...but that's just how I am.


And if you don't remember me, I translated SR manga until it became licensed. And yes, I miss it a lot.

Disclaimer: Most of the blondes I know are just stupid and suffer from the effects of stupidity.

I agree with your opinion on how they translated "fushigi," but not so much on the ditzy blonde American high school girl part. I guess they're dumbing down her vocabulary in english? She never seemed the bright one, although if the other characters get gimped vocabulary, I'm sticking with imports.


But yeah, I miss your translations ;_; (and the notes)

"Love on the Run". Hanai's back in the picture sort of After his kite string had been cut he gets caught in some air turbulence and loses consciousness as he drifts away. When he comes to he is greeted by a girl who looks like Yakumo in a strange land. There reigns a sawachika-like girl as their queen, and in this land the locals are having problems fighting off a beast. Hanai is enlisted to help and slays the beast. Afterwards he is offered the Yakumo look-alike as his bride, but he doesn't accept. He gets a boat and continues his odyssey back to japan. Chapter ends with the whole story being made-up by Akira and Sara telling her not to involve Yakumo like that

"Love At Large". The 4 girls make valentine day chocolates to give out to their special someone. Tenma is curious who Akira will give it to but she says she doesn't really have anyone in mind. The other 3 girls are all excited except Akira. Next day the girls decide to follow Akira to see who she gives it to, but Sawachika decides not to follow tenma and mikoto. Akira first goes to the board chairman, some guy from the baseball team, then to Nishimoto. The girls are shocked each time but it turns out to be misunderstandings on their part. She goes to a temple, with the girls still on pursuit, and meets with Harima's little brother and gives him chocolates for a children's party. She says her goodbyes to him and they part ways. The girls are disappointed that she is single and not interested in anyone. The 2 girls leave while Akira remains with a chocolate in her hand and tosses it away. Then with some deadly accuracy she hits hanai's mouth as he opens a window to breathe in some fresh air as he starts saying "tomorrow at school...". Chapter ends with Hanai bedridden saying "I'm home, Yaakumo". Which was the name of the yakumo lookalike from last chapter
