Quote:
from Play Magazine

[From Jonathan "Jay" Beard, President & CEO of BottleRocket]
....No disrespect meant to other horror games, but I really feel as an industry, we have let the genre down. I am a fan of horror movies, especially early Jackson, Raimi, Romero and Fulci. I like my horror to be wet and sticky. Our industry has made some pretty creepy horror games, but the gore has always been fairly lame. Sure, anyone can throw a bunch of red sprites at the floor and say, "Look at OUR gore. Gruesome, eh?" But to me it all just looks like ketchup. Real blood sprays, drips and rolls down walls. It pools and congeals, it soaks into clothing and drips from fingers."

He goes on to describe Rick ripping enemies apart like a "wet bag of guts", which would splash onto the floor.

In describing the location of West Mansion itself, Creative Director Erik Medina had this to say...
....The West Mansion is a place where some gruesome and disturbing experiments have occurred. Some of those experiments have gone horrifically wrong, and there are signs of this everywhere. We are being influenced by the original game's mansion style, but are adding some history to the experiments that will date back very far in story and in style. The history will effect the architecture and technology in Dr. West's world. We're going to wrap this up with some good old-fashioned high-contrast lighting and blood, blood, blood. After all, it is Splatterhouse."

Co-Producer Dan Tovar went on to state that "Ther is a sense of history and plenty of evidence of the horrors that have occurred there."

And moreover, it is claimed that a good 40% of the game occurs outside, so the lion's share of the game should take place in the mansion.

For the ones who don't know about the game just go this site called the West Mansion http://splatterhouse.classicgaming.g...com/index.html

This game looks badass.

I've never played the originals, but they had awesome creature designs. Straight up Gigeresque nightmares.

You're missing something. You can get 1 of the PC-engine version and 2 (MD version) on VC, if you have a Wii. And if you still have a MD/Genesis at home it is worth getting part 2 & 3 second-handed. Of course there are mame and MD/genesis emus...

And rumour has it the entire Bottlerocket dev team was just fired by Namco Bandai.

They supposedly took back the dev kit and the almost completed game along with it and have passed everything over to the Afro Samurai dev team.
