I'm not surprised at Gen's comment. It makes sense if you remember the "conversation" she had with Mami and Kyouko after she made her wish. It also ties in with other statements: Homura crying that her fate was worse than death, Kyubey's "incorrect" assumptions about the nature of the wish and his mention that they couldn't figure out why the gems simply disappear, which suggests that Incubator "scientists" are working on uncovering that "problem". And of course Madoka makes a vague mention of an even bigger miracle "soon". The universe without Madoka is clearly a minor improvement over the ones with her (sounds bad saying that, but it's true), and the impression I got after months of reflecting on it is that it was at best a stopgap universe careening toward a destructive ending just like the others. Homura is fighting the good fight but it is still borrowed time.

The ending to the series leaves a lot of room to explore the question of Madoka's (and the others) true fate, if hope can truly prevail over despair, etc. I have no doubt that much crying and bittersweet feelings will happen, but Gen has proven that he has the capability of writing about complicated themes.

I choose to remain optimistic, however, since Madoka's actions fit the exact description he said was necessary for him to get over his own personal Despair Syndrome in his post-script of Fate/Zero.

Let's hope he's not THAT much of a dick.

Wasn't there an interview some time earlier when Gen said that whereas the original Madoka script was primarily a story of his own creation, the new Madoka movie will be a true product of the combination of the Magica Quartet? Suggesting, implicitly, that in this case Shinbo, Aoki, etc. would have had some actual input in discussing the future of Madoka's direction. I highly doubt the final movie will have Urobochi going back to his grimdark roots in any manner contradictory to the first story's conclusion.

That's correct.

And yeah, based in part on the Magica Quartet factor for the movie, I doubt that it will be significantly more grimdark than the original anime narrative.

Now, I do think it will change up the PMMM universe some. It pretty much has to, otherwise the whole movie might feel like an exercise in vanity. I suspect there will be a new twist, a new threat, perhaps even one final stage "farther down the rabbit hole". But I also suspect that the protagonist(s) will largely overcome that, albeit with some sacrifice in all likelihood.

Still 2 weeks before the airing in Paris... And that's the 1 and only one airing in France...

... I can't help to be anxious, afraid that the organisators to mess up; like a divx quality on a movie screen, sub or dub? Between the 2 movies there's a break of 30 min to 1 hour and need to fight to retake the best places, and the time it will finish it might be 01:00 AM, suck to find a way to go home...

They're hoping that there'll be more dates afterwards,depends on the success of the event

Concernant la diffusion cinéma, il s'agit d'une PREMIERE, nous souhaitons bien entendu distribuer les films le plus largement possible. Et le principal blocage se trouve au niveau des cinémas (qui ne programment pas d'animation japonaise en vostfr). Cet évènement va permettre, nous l’espérons de montrer l'engouement que peut susciter ce type de sortie.

Now, another question I've been meaning to ask but it kept slipping my mind... Animexcel, where the heck did you get that awesome Mami gif avatar? I don't recall Mami ever having a transformation sequence like that in the anime. Your gif avatar looks really cool!

Puella Magi Madoka Magica The Beginning Story

I watched this yesterday and want to write down my observation and thoughts, just for your curiosity. Excuse me for my poor English though, it’s not my mother tongue.

Also, SPOILER WARNING

First of all;
1) They said it was going to be a recap. I say, SHINBO THE MASTER TROLLER. Every scenes have got certain changes-more or less-and, as far as I remember, all nearly all of the highlights scenes have been REDRAWN. It’s not merely a recap; I would call it a complete overhaul.
2) Those changes are so significant that, even though I had recently watched Madoka all over again-for my fourth time-on Niconico last week, it just felt like a completely new anime. If you haven’t watched Madoka for a while, I guarantee, it will be just as fresh as it was in 2011.

Story
1) There are not many changes or differences and most of them seem to be insignificant. I recognized some changes in the order of certain scenes, probably to join all the separate episodes together into a single continuing piece.
2) The first part, as it was revealed earlier in the morning, covers the first 8 episodes; it ends with ‘I’m such a fool’ and that god damn Kyubey lecturing us about the meaning of mahout-shojo.

Scenes
1) Apparently, there are few scenes that have been cut out, like the one with Madoka in a cafe asking Homura if she could help Sayaka. The dialogue itself seems to be absorbed into the other scene on the school’s roof. The scene where Sayaka makes her contract is also made very brief, with no dialogue at all.
2) There are four transformation sequences; new ones each for Sayaka and Kyoko, TWO FOR MAMI. They are of course much better than the ones on the TV series. Sayaka’s transformation takes place underwater and clearly resembles that of the little mermaid, or maybe her fate. Kyoko performs a nice dance with her spear while transforming, if you know what I mean.
3) It shows Mami’s Soul Gem getting shattered into pieces when Charlotte does MOGUMOGU. The entire sequence -Mami vs Charlotte- has actually become a little bit more crual, although I can’t explain why and how. Maybe because the way Charlotte moves, or it could be something about that new soundtrack.
4) For those who are concerned about all those beautiful shaft necks; rejoice. You can enjoy those nice angles of 90 degrees on the huge cinema screen.
5) THAT INU-CURRY WORLD FILLING THE ENTIRE CINEMA SCREEN.
6) The very last part of the new ending animation features an unknown pink silhouette -most likely that of Godoka- with another silhouette that is somewhat smaller and floating inside its belly, or womb?
