The only part of the ending that I really don't know what to make of is the reveal that Sarah wasn't actually the one who published the Forgery. So...who was? Anyone have any theories on that? It's hard to see how anyone else would have even known about it. Unless maybe she told Cass about it or something.

The Forgery was written after the 1996 incident, though.

Spoiler for Hint:

Oh, right, of course. Silly me. ...I still can't seem to figure out who it would have been, though...Am I missing something that's plainly obvious to everyone else?

I've only just finished reading the story and I haven't really thought about theories yet, but

GoldenLand is getting close. One of the three ideas she mentioned is sort of true; go over the dialog they have when they break their witch/demon personas in their arguments.

Right, well, given that the whole YouTube thing is probably a big deal for people who didn't jump right in, I'm working on a preliminary VN release. It will be very slapdash and missing most of the things that should be in it, like a properly-styled UI, TIPS and character profiles, and also two ???? scenes may be missing (you know what they are) unless I figure out a workaround.

Long-term plans would be moving the update to the latest Ren'py as I'm about 4 releases behind (worried the Umineko-style NVL mode will break as Ren'py has its own, different NVL mode and I had to get Oliver to hackjob this one), write a second Andromalius TIP that covers a stretch of time you might not have noticed was addressed in two lines (that scene takes place after ep8, not that you'd know it), get all the profiles and everything in place, and maybe add a Walter Absalom Mode that uses the hypertext system supported by Ren'py to point out all the hints and references.

EDIT: Also HD Remaster of Battler Solves the Logic Error as an Extra TIP, possibly.

For those two ???? scenes, you could just remake them with the original graphics, right? That would be a lot better than missing them completely, since they are pretty important.

I'm probably going to wait for the VN to start rereading and looking over stuff, but for now:

Okay. There is now a downloadable v1.0 of Redaction. Head over to Witch Hunters Abroad for information on the release. As I mention there, this is a slapdash version made in haste just to make sure it's available for people to read. I intend to go back and edit it some more, add some things, add an actual UI with stuff like character profiles and TIPs (and make the UI more generally resemble Umineko's), and maybe add a little extra content in the form of a new TIP and a "Director's Commentary" track-like-thing.

Nevertheless, for those YouTube-averse (and who can blame you at this point?) there is now a version that can be read through in more or less the same fashion as the originals. Just don't expect any fancy stuff out of it yet. Now that I've barely come to an understanding of scripting, I "get" to master windows and menus.

EDIT: Oh and "S" takes screenshots. You may experience some slowdown when you do this, as Ren'py takes a high-quality PNG of the screen and it's running OpenGL. System requirements in general are a bit higher than for ONscripter, take heed of that.

Yeeeeah, I need to fix that upload. I got somebody working on it, as I'm not in a position to do it myself. Anyway, regarding a certain so-called "cheat..."
Spoiler:
EDIT: Okay, I'm told the upload is up now, hopefully it sustains itself better.

Is that directed at me? I think I'm being misunderstood.

I guess that GBH missed this post from a while ago, huh.

I wouldn't worry too much about what 1996's narrative is for "Prime", but focus on why you're seeing it, what it means, and what it says.
To be fair, Renall does show a lot of interest in where things like EP7 come from, so it wouldn't be that crazy to think that he might be clearer about things like that in his own work. But I never really thought that the origin of the 1996 narrative was particularly important. And to think that Walter would have bothered writing out the whole thing in narrative form (with a fantasy scene at the end and all) is a little silly; I guess it would sort of fit his overly dramatic character, but that's going a little too far.

Renall, are you a woman? No one knows on the internet unless you spell it out, so I'll mention I'm a (fairly obtuse when it comes to people) guy just to be fair. Is Sarah some kind of self-insert character for you? I feel bad for you now. I can't even imagine living through that kind of madness. I guess I've had a pretty sheltered life...
Haha, I have to admit I did think the same thing for a second when she first said she was a lawyer in the tea party. But I'm pretty sure that's where the resemblance ends.

While we're on the subject, though, I have to say that the whole direction that the plot ended up going in actually kind of creeps me out in a lot of ways. A large amount of it is extremely similar to an Umineko fanfic I was planning on writing long before I'd even heard of Redaction, and I was planning on introducing a self-insert character as the witch in much the same manner that Sarah did. Several of the scenes are so similar to my outlines that it's almost unbelievable. But I suppose I should probably have stopped being freaked out by my resemblance to fictional characters after the original Beatrice happened. Anyway, many thanks to Renall for essentially writing what I wanted to and probably never would have gotten around to.
