Yay, Volume 9 Chapter 4! The new character in this chapter's adorable... and busty.
Now I want the Archer she'll introduce introduces to know Syun in real life. ...And to have been encouraged to play because she heard him talking about it at some point with Taku. |

I read some pages back about OSO not being someone's cup of tea.
That's true, but it doesn't mean it's bad either. Yes I sometimes don't realize who says which line at first but that comes with the territory, I don't read LNs to feel intellectually/academically superior over which printed words I consume. Yun isn't some minmaxer. He's just a "casual" who plays OSO just because he likes it. It's a different focus from people who actively seek out OPness like Kiritoe or Weedle, and the goal of being OP in a game world is dime a dozen already. Or being OP in real fantasy life because of game mechanics being present (Konosuba, LH). Here's my 2 cents about why Yun is fending well for himself despite not being a minmaxer. 1. Spending about 4~ hours a day logged in is part of his routine now, and Shun being a homebody, routine is a big part of his life. He's gonna be good at OSO somewhat since he's spending a bit of time everyday playing it, CIP: Lyna and Al. 2. Because he doesn't care about efficiency in terms of combat, he becomes efficient in other things like crafting and whatnot. We all know his versatile support is efficient enough that he can stand toe to toe with the ultimate minmaxers Mikadzuchi and Sei. 3. Just because you can, doesn't mean you should. Why isn't every minmaxer wearing 10 rings in the game if it can give you additional bonuses? 2 reasons. Fashion sensibilities and maybe the kind of things you wear in the game is like wearing them in real life since it's a VRMMORPG, and people aren't comfortable wearing 10 rings and stuff. 4. There's the argument about datamining. Then again, OSO is like a Nintendo-exclusive game since it comes with its own hardware, therefore it takes time and effort to successfully mine the crap out of it. And since it's still been 5 months, there's not any successful datamining going on at this point. CIP: The Wii U is 5 years old and CEMUlation is just a year old and can't even run Bayo 2 stable still. 5. Yun's socializing skills despite wanting to solo play most of the time has garnered him contacts with exceptional people like guide creators, top combatants, top crafters both mainstream and underground, top PKers, and now even the town AI. You can't deny that being in this kind of company will help your game a lot. Heck, anyone who antagonizes Yun will face the wrath of these people as found in numerous occasions, even he's aware of it now. 6. It seems OSO is designed to be a looooong game, so info will naturally just trickle out for things that no one likes, aka trash senses. That's why even if Yun seems wishy washy and seems to forget on how to act like a man 80% of the time, I can't deny that what he's doing is great. Yun isn't great at thinking in gaming terms like we are, but his skill at life itself translated into the game which makes him successful in OSO. He's a normie in a hardcore gamer's world. It's usually the opposite that we see in VRMMORPG light novels too, which is why I like OSO so much. Btw I think we're due for a real world meeting nowadays. The author has been dropping hints about the personal lives of some players. For instance, Letia. She doesn't give a crap about money but does about animals. Methinks she's a sheltered rich girl cooped up at home with no friends. That's why she has no problem sleeping in a stable, scavenging for food, and taming a lot of animals. It's 3 things she doesn't have. And just like Yureka, I think there's a celebrity among Yun's acquaintances. Either Lyly or Magi. I hope OSO explores that more than Yureka and in a less serious manner too. Last edited by jasper222; 2016-08-12 at 03:59. |

Oh, i was long waiting for it..
So, i wonder if Yun decide to join or not since i don't like her to remain solo all the times (Maybe commanding a guild where Magi's crew are the first one to be with her) |

Yun seems to quite strongly resist being tied down long term (as in, obliged to work with others). So I don't currently see Yun joining a guild for real or creating her own.
It would be nice to see Yun use a broader range of equipment though - she pretty much uses the same set for everything. That being said, it seems more or less the same for everyone else from what's been shown. edit Yun has occasionally done things like use specialist rings, but more as a once off. Something like a "blacksmith" set with +str +attack +heat resistance, for example. Last edited by kari-no-sugata II; 2017-02-01 at 08:08. |

Sooner or later, she have to work together with other person and she can trust Magi's group for that since they aid Yun a lot. It's just that she need to get pressured more to realize that she can't do it alone. (I refer Yun as Female since he play as a girl in the game)
Imagine like Tigre from Madan that was not interested in becoming ruler and throughout the story, his achievement was being used as his allies to pressure him to become King. I'm sure the similar situation also apply to Yun as well. |

If that was going to work on Yun it would have happened already (probably). However, Yun is happy enough to make "once off" parties to solve particular problems and the like but nobody has given her a good enough reason to permanently join a guild - and trying to pressure her doesn't work. I think that would only work if there's something she wants that is only available in a guild and so far there hasn't been one. So if that doesn't happen then Yun probably won't join/create a guild unless she changes her playing style.

Main reason is if there is updates that NPCs will no longer sell potions or assets to those who can't craft it while people like Yun can make it she will never be able to win the game or becoming what she want since she will keep pressured and the only way is to establish guild to make a network for people like her where she will take command to fullfill the market demands and keep updated. She must establish a guild and it can't be avoided in the future. |

But the thing is Yun likes her current style of casual solo play. It's how he has fun and he doesn't feel the need to change it. The series itself frequently mentions how the game is meant to be played how the player likes to play it. This is what works for Yun and there's no real incentive to change it. When Yun encounters content that requires grouping up to solve she'll readily do it, and he'll socialize with the friends he's made too. Yun's goal isn't to be one of the top super players, but just to relax and have fun and this works for him. Yun's style has allowed her to remain competitive and helpful to the other top tier players even if Yun isn't explosively powerful himself.
I honestly don't see Yun changing his style anytime soon if ever.
