Think of it as a standard stadium track. Either or because M just had to come at the worst of times. (Not that it matters anyway.)

Or if anyone have ever heard of a game called Plane Crazy, maybe like that. non-standard track with set checkpoints.

Humanity now enjoy a relatively peaceful era. After the two-hundred years Maverick-Elf Wars, all countries now joined under the leadership of Legions - the successor of 21st-century United Nations. Resources now distributed equally to each states with a central-planning economy. Thanks to the advance prosthetic technology, the mortal now could become immortal with mechanical parts - a “Humanoid”.
However, the world still faces many problems. First is energy. The long war has almost depleted all of the world’s fossil fuel, including Uranium and other radiation mines. Other sources of energy like Solar or Thermor are widely used, but still not meet the growing demand. However, the answer might lie in one of the world’s greatest invention since Reploid (REPLIca andROID - Robots with Human’s mind): The Infinite Stratos (IS), or more specifically, the Cores - A seemingly infinite source of power.
First debuted as the mysterious [White Knight], this new generation Exo-Suit/Weapon immediately attract worldwide attention when it stopped 2341 ballistic and cruise missiles from hacked military missile bases towards all major cities in Japan - 1221 of the missiles with a sword and the rest were shot down with energy weapons, something no country in the world had the technology of producing. It's faceless pilot claimed no allegiance to any worldly nations and was attacked by several major world powers seeking to capture or destroy it. The [White Knight] fended of its attackers destroying 207 next gen fighter aircrafts, disabling 7 aircraft carriers and its naval escorts, in addition 8 weaponized military spy satellites was also destroyed.
Faced with such an overpowering weapon, the nations of the world enact the [Alaska Treaty], which states that IS will never be used for military combat and that existing IS technology must be equally distributed to all nations, to prevent any one nation for dominating the others. The introduction of the IS does however have a major effect on society. As IS can only be operated by women, the power balance between men and women is broken, with women coming to dominate society over men. No reason for this particular phenomenon was made by IS creator, Dr. Shinono Tabane (who immediately vanished after left to the world 467 usable Cores). IS Academy was established and funded by Japan on one of its artificial island, [Neo Arcadia], as a place for where Infinite Stratos users from all over the world come to learn how to effectively pilot an IS.
And that is also where our story started with an abnormal event at Class 1-A first Homeroom Meeting...

On the other hand I am thinking of writing Ran as main character for Build Fighter, chasing after Ichika's shadow without Dan's help (he's really furious after a certain incident involving Master Grade model, three feet of hose and a chair)

Ichika is already world level player, though still far from the World Champion like Chifuyu was. And Dan is both his partner and his rival.

and of course, Huang Lingyin as vastly superior foreign rival

Well, basic astraea with Gerbera Katana sounds good. You know she like KISS principle.

Oh and Ichika's reputation is legendary, He's monkeying around in space using atmospheric jet fighter somehow, and defeated a properly made Zeta Plus to boot.

Opponent: "BULLSHIT, you cheater"

Ichika: "(Gunbarrel) Striker pack, it's legit"

EDIT: Stock paragraph as in 4 sentences per line break? Not often, I think. I tend to break them after 3 for easy read.
