I can't believe that people are kicking, flailing and punching at the thought of Fate having possibly a father or even having Jail as one. It's not like it is going the first instance of a non traditional family in a show filled with them. I'll add that a "Luke I am your father" possible scenario is just too much to let it slip, remember that said father in Return of the Jedi redeemed himself in the end.
Also, Fate is a clone, not the product of the Immaculate Conception. |

Actually, the whole 'Jail is your father' thing was born out of a quote from Tre, who told Fate not to say such sad things about Jail because "The doctor, as well as for that boy and others, is your birth father."
Also note that Fate has no comeback to this. No denial. The only reply she can give is "Shut up!" |

She is, she doesn't mean he's literally her blood related father (erio's a clone of another couple's son so that can't be what she means). But in the sense that without Jail's direct involvement she wouldn't have life, Jail is her father.

In terms of who "created" Fate, Jail is definitely her father. They aren't blood related, but he was the one who started the research for cloning. Precia pretty much perfected it to her own means. So if you want to think of her parents as who "created" her, Precia would be Fate's mother and Jail would be Fate's father.

Because were his genes used in the making of Fate, or did he just create project F and Precia used project F to create Fate.
I'll agree if It's the former, but if it's the latter then Scaglietti is the father under what basis? What if a man were to force a female to have sex with another man, and she procreated, would that mean the child has two fathers? Certainly both men aided in creating the child, but one of them is not related by blood, or legally. I don't get it. *shrug*

Well, now you're moving into touchy territory here. "Creating" someone certainly makes one a father, but... at the same time, not quite. Part of being a parent is not only having a child, but raising the child. So while Jail can say he's Fate's father because he "created" her, he's not really her father in the sense that he didn't raise her to make her who she is now.

Likewise, Precia didn't use her genes in creating Fate. Oh sure, her genes were used in creating Alicia, but afterwards it was Alicia's genes that were used to create Fate. It's an ethical debate that steps on all kinds of toes should you throw it out in the real world. Me? I prefer looking at the reaction of the people involved. And Fate's reaction spoke volumes of what she thought about the situation. |
