I read that Taito uses too much his immortality... but he is human and aside that doesn't have any special feature (meaning Hinata's attack speed >>>> Taito time of thinking). Not like he depends too much on it, but he has no other choice, he didn't train like Gekkou or is a yokai like Mirai.

the other 2 stories in the OVA already seemed to be fan-service-based from their titles. I'm speculating that DYD cross is to advertise DYD to Itsuten readers and Itsuten to DYD readers, since originally it didn't make it into the popularity vote. so they may introduce some powers or themes or the charm of the characters of both series. the most logical thing will be that Gekkou opens a portal to the DYD world, and Itsuten characters go into DYD world. there are already some hypothetical match-ups between Taito and Ryner on the net. it will be interesting if they fight.

I didn't like the first episode all that much due to a combination of things, but it did leave me enough on the fence to give the show more episodes to sink in. Despite my gripes with the overall directing, the story did interest me some.

But the second episode ... ouch, I found it borderline painful to watch. The visual presentation is anywhere between silly and corny (which contrasts badly with the supposedly darker setting), the flashing lights in all the colors of a rainbow, coupled with sparkly bubbles overlaying the screen every now and then, makes it quite hard to take the whole deal seriously. The dialog is simply bad and character interactions hardly believable.

The pacing is disjointed and haphazard, flow of battle gets interrupted by somewhat lengthy dialogs made of pure cheese (with everyone else coming to a halt meanwhile to give the characters the time to embarrass themselves until they are done talking), the bad guy was presented so blandly he only lacked a mustache to be a caricature of evil, and a monocle ... oh wait.

Yeah ... while episode 1 left me on the fence, episode 2 thoroughly crushed my interest in it. I don't get the feeling the staff is even trying with this one, rather than simply stringing together events with no regards to flow nor scene transitions, with an added layer of sprinkling bubbleness and Mirai's pantsu for good measure.

More and more, ZEXCS is becoming the first studio I have ever felt the need to avoid based on the name alone. I am still sore over the butchering of Fortune Arterial, but this just might be the nail in the coffin. Seems like the days when they could produce something of Canvas 2 quality are long gone ..

However, as the first arc in the anime, it's a massive letdown.

Even though there are quite a few parts that left me roll my eyes I like the show so far. Guess I'm attached the characters. Himea is such an awesome looking waifu and Mirai is cute as well. Action was entertaining in episode 2, but I would really like some explanations and taking it a bit easy at the moment would give few points up. Random and speedy things really hurt the overall enjoyment.

I thought it'd be generic but I like this a lot. XD The character designs are gorgeous (I want figures of all of them!) and the boy actually WANTS the mysterious girl this time!?

Exactly what I was thinking. First impressions of the series is horrendous, the second episode caused my eyes to bleed. It would take quite a lot for them to come back from there.

I didn't know Fortune Arterial was done by them, that was another tragedy.
