Probably totally off, don't just knee-jerk dismiss this post unless you can link to a wiki on the dates and spacecraft:
2579 - BUGS I, crew was "the best of the best", massacred by the cockroaches. Seen only in flashback in Episode 01. Cockroaches salvaged the spaceship for handheld weapons. 2599 - BUGS II, crew was "human trash" with the BUGS surgery (insects-only hybridization). Only one or two survivors made it back? Episode 01 April 12, 2620 - Annex I, crew was six "elites" and the rest conscripts with MO surgery (more than just insect hybrids) . Episodes 02-03 (current) Terraformars: 7-foot-tall humanoid cockroaches showing intelligence on par with primitive Humans. Non-verbal. Stronger and faster than an unmodified Human. They also have the power of flight with fully functional retractable insect wings. Able to use Human weapons requiring hands and fingers. Able to communicate with others of its' species over hundreds of kilometers? Instinctive killers of any Humans on Mars or approaching Mars in atmospheric orbit. Not armored - can be killed by small-arms fire, blunt-force trauma, and modified-Human strength. Normal sight? Extremely stealthy and quiet when they want to be. Spoiler for Episode 03:

So we can establish that the humans in this series are really dumb/arrogant?
I mean, what happened to the original crew on Mars + the surprise invasion of their space craft (and targeting the medicine) wasn't enough of a red flag that you can't hold back against them if you plan on doing something dangerous like capturing the Terraformars alive? "I'm sorry for holding back the use of the medicine" FFS. I guess I shouldn't take the show seriously to enjoy it. =/ |
