For a moment I thought I was watching the "moment of truth" (aka "let's eat and orgasm!") segment of a culinary anime

Except that he doesn't cook mapo-flavored food . Though I guess, initially, even this might not be too much an issue to our long-suffering friends

Oh well, being dandy is a cool thing for Nyanta! I can't wait for the next arc where Shiroe saves both Minori and Touya.

BTW, can a player leave the guild easily, or it needs permission from the leader? I don't think both of them would leave the guild in a snap judging from Ep. 5.
Spoiler for Just in case of spoilers:

This episode is just soooooo adorable! Serara also sky rocketed in her moeness. Its also funny when she is imagining with Chief Nyanta. Shiroe and Naotsugu are bro's and Naotsugu is a real bro. Its a calming episode with a storm brewing at the end.

Poor newbies.

I find it wierd the People of the Land don't know anything about cookie, but the kids do know what a ninja looks like (note: no such thing as ninja class or sub-class in the game).

And Hentaitsugu should've realized long ago that being an open pervert makes him an enemy of all women. He should have taken Nyanta, Soujirou, and Shiroe as example if he want to score some chicks.

This episode was great, Serara is too cute and the voice actor just makes her way better. I couldnt stop smiling at the first half of the episode. The second part also does a good job of setting up for the twins rescue.

Spoiler for The power of food!:

I don't know whats more worst. The fact the food doesn't burn, but turns into slime... or the fact people tried to eat it.

Since serara is a housekeeper does it mean she can still cook without the penalties? Or is it just restricted to cooks... cause it seems like shes helping Nyanta a lot.

Nyanta cooks the food while she just helps out with non-cooking related tasks, plus as its shown she likes him and wants to be near him all the time.

Maids can clean (maybe she cleans after he cooks?)
Cooks can make taste and the taste is subclass specific.

Bringing us back to my question of whether switching subjobs means you lose the levels you'd already gained with the one you switch away from. Because if not, switching from maid to cook to whatever you use for fighting depending on what you're doing right now would make a lot of sense.

It will probably reset to level one, if not then there should be a massive change of job already. The same concept is probably use on the level where one has experience and target experience to level up. And if one died, then you will lost your experience and its possible to be a level 90 but has 0 experience. It means that you will need to gather all your experience lost just to level it up.

Well if you think about it, the setting of the game is in a feudal era. There is a samurai class so a 'ninja' could still be a thing. It probably isn't a class as much as it is a part of history. I wouldn't be suprised if the NPCs didn't know anything meta-game (like class names and hit points ect). Also, cookies weren't common in the middle ages, i don't know where they started but i don't think they were common in the 15th century. But because i'm american "cookie" means one thing to me... and many other things around the world.

Episode 5

Wow, Nyanta is just so cool! He can cook, fight with elegance and is a cat to boot.

This episode I enjoyed a lot as just seeing the priceless reactions and faces our trio eating his cooking was just fun.

Can you imagine being forced into a diet of tasteless mush and water for weeks on end before finally getting to eat something real again? I'm sure my reaction would of been much the same.

It bothers me a little bit how in every episode the characters aren't even wondering or being freaked out or homesick about being stuck in a game. If I was stuck in a game, I'd be trying to figure out why that is and what the hell is happening. Like where is my real body and in what condition it is? Am I dead, or am I some sort of artificial intelligence? What are my friends and family feeling? And so on. And I'd be looking for every single shred of evidence I could get my hands on trying to figure out this mystery and brainstorming with other people. Our protagonists are just waaaay too okay with their situation, normally you would be wondering why you're stuck in a game no?

Episode 1 you saw a lot of people freaking out, its just our leaders are calm which makes their subordinates calm by extention (Shiroe and Nyanta), and the leaders were by nature calm. Shiroe always calmly analyzes any situation and comes up with a strategy while Nyanta is just an awesome smooth talking cat.

Someone calm would try to figure out why they're stuck in a game. Brainstorm. Put forward theories. Try to gather information. Shiroe hasn't done that at all, none of them have, it's like "Oh, we're stuck in a game, weird. Now let's go do game stuff!" I question how much Shiroe is really a strategist when he puts game strategy before actually having a strategy to get out of the game. Talk about ignoring the elephant in the room.

We're watching the people who aren't freaking out about it. Besides, what exactly are you expecting them to do? This isn't SAO where everything's been spelled out for them. They do not know where they are, they do not know how they got there, they do not know who (if anyone) put them there, they do not know what will allow them to leave, they do not know any means of accessing the world they came from. All they can do is explore this world and see if they find anything that explains what's happened, and that's exactly what they've been doing. And that's a much better choice than sitting around and being depressed or angsty about things that they can't do anything about.

Beg pardon? Shiroe has been gathering information nonstop since he first woke up in Elder Tale. Everything he observes at every moment is more information. If you bothered to pay attention you would notice that he's been very analytical in everything he's done, carefully observing everything that's occurred.

Log Horizon so far have not been about how to get out of the game, since the "game" appears to be a foreign world that look like the game. The first episodes shown have been to figure out the rules of the world (they now know what make food better and how) what to do now (some people turn to PKing, others like Shiroe's party adventure around, others litteraly enslave newbies and some will try ot set up a metagame like politics and enforcement of the public order to deal with PKing and what's morally wrong).

The first thing they did was start investigating the area and then figuring out how the "game" works with trying fighting and stuff out. Then they got side tracked by going to rescue Serara.
