Sport anime like Hajime no Ippo

I'm looking for a sport anime like Hajime no Ippo, where the main character goes from "zero to hero" (a bit like Kenichi in History`s Strongest Disciple Kenichi) but staying realist, without super powers.

A few of my personal favourites:

Sports + romance: Touch
A very moving series about the growth of a trio of childhood friends as they bring their highschool's baseball team ever closer to Koshien Stadium. The original mangaka Adachi Mitsuru has also written several other sports series, including H2 (baseball), Katsu (boxing) and Rough (swimming).

Sports + female main character: Yawara, Fashionable Judo Girl
"Inokuma Yawara is just another young high school girl. Well, not quite - for Yawara is being raised by her grandfather, 7th dan Judo master Inokuma Jigorou, to be Japan's great hope for the women's Judo competition at the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona. All the same, Yawara just wants to live a normal life..."

Sports + supernatural element?: Hikaru no Go
The ghost of an ancient Go master haunts the game board belonging to a young boy. Together they strive to play to perfect game of Go, and achieve the "Hand of God".

I say Eyeshield 21 or Slam Dunk, but personally I would read the manga rather than watching th anime as the manga is lot better. Both series the main character are new at that their sports and gradually they get better and better. Even if you might not like those sports I would say anyone would still enjoy the show.

I don't know if you could call Car Racing/Drifting a sport, but if you do. Initial D would be a good watch for you.

Ookiku Furikabutte is a good one. One of the only sports anime I've liked. It's very realistic and there are no cliched bad guys, but just guys who love baseball. It's more about the team them one person, but the lead male does go from insecure mess to a great pitcher.

X2 to Overdrive, Inital D and Ookiku Furikabutte. All great shows.
