I just had a thought about the whole Deux Ex Machina time/space control situation. If Yuki ends up winning and succeeds Deux Ex Machina in being the keeper of time/space, doesn't that mean that he can theoretically go back in time and reset everything?

I think it's pretty safe to say that that is a question that many of the "contestants" will want to know the answer to.
But as you can infer by Deus's own (if he's to be believed) need for a successor, it would appear that even "god" isn't completely omnipotent. Last edited by Doria; 2011-10-26 at 00:21. Reason: Couldn't remember if it was a spoiler at this point, so edited to be safe |

I think there are ways to adapt material that one may feel was originally flawed in such a way that it remains true to the source, but perhaps adjusts to a more acceptable viewpoint.
Whether this is one of those cases, it's hard to say... |

I think that mail slot scene was much better in the anime.

I followed the manga and loved it. I just started watching it today so I can't say if it will be good for me yet. I dislike Yuno's voice already though, I wish they got Mai Nakahara to do her instead since she does an excellent job in the crazed tsundere like Yuno is. So I'm disappointed in that aspect. I hope they do follow the manga though and keep the true ending. I really liked this anime and will be upset if they decided to butcher it =/

I removed a bunch (more) posts that were talking about or alluding to the manga ending, as this sort of discussion does not belong in this anime thread. If you want to discuss or speculate about the anime's ending based on your knowledge of the manga, please go to the manga thread.

Also, isn't there plenty to talk about in the opening episodes? I mean, we're only a handful of eps into a 26-ep series.
I haven't really minded the actors for any of the characters, but that may be because I read the manga so late and fast (crammed it all in about a week) that I didn't have time to build up much opinion of how I "thought" they'd sound. And Yukki still isn't anywhere near the voice for Hikaru (of Hikaru no go), which was so off-putting, that I had to drop the anime, despite loving the series. Yuno sounds fine to me... My only complaint as such so far is that the direction is a little static, with not terribly interesting framing, which is exacerbated by the nature of the series itself. Since it's not overly actiony (I mean, by percentage, let's say), it ends up feeling kind of slowto me, due to the direction/composition, even in sections where I was really riveted while reading the manga. When the literally static image feels more dynamic than the actually moving one does, that seems like a reasonable complaint. A few scenes have shown some flair, but overall, I'm not sure that there's a lot of work being done to make the more staid scenes less flat. Other series that are just as interiorly focused or talky have managed, so I can't say it's endemic just to the nature of the series. It isn't at all a deal breaker, but it just doesn't quite have a little spark I was hoping it would. I think it's very solid. But so far... in the very early going... I'd be hard pressed to give it above a B or so, overall. |

Looks like Yuki did the right thing at the end. After all, it said "HAPPY END" on Yuno's diary, which means she was going to win. Since Yuki looked in that room, that means her winning ain't gonna happen. He inadvertently saved his own life. Still, I don't see how he'll manage if he can't trust Yuno. Then again, maybe he shouldn't. She COULD be only using Yuki to win the game since it seems he's the key for her "HAPPY END". Without him, her diary is useless, so I can see her obsession with protecting him for that very reason.
Yuno was, as Yuki proclaimed, really cute in this episode. She looked particularly awesome in that swimsuit. Girls grow so quickly these days =03. |

It said something like "Yuno and Yuki come together" which could mean... well... |
