The series introduced Ichigo's dad recently as being a shinigami (in hiding sorta), has there been any advancement on those facts, and his family (sister seeing hollows) in the manga?

why would kubo mention the fact that ichigo's dad has the reitsu of a captain level if he was not a captain himself. In another thread ive been reading, people said that shinigamis with a lot of spirit power were usually the ones who became captain. So this leaves me to belive he was a captain.

also i have a theory that he might have been a vizard because Urahara, seeming to know much about ichigo and his dad, said to Ichigo's dad that the vizards have contacted Ichigo just like he expected.

The one thing that i cant stop thinking about is if Ichigo's dad was a captain, or even a REALLY REALLY POWERFUL SHINIGAMI, why would Urahara be the only person to remember the Kurosaki family??

What ive read from the manga so far doesnt even mention Ichigo's dad since his first shinigami appearance, so no help from the manga (from what ive read+remembered anyway).

When Ichigo went to rescue Rukia the first time when he flew in using the single wing, Byakuya and ..eh the other guy, I forgot his name...the weak bodied white haired Shinigami, had a Deja Vu when they saw Ichigo. I wonder if it was indeed his dad they saw in him.

I too... think that they would remember him... becuase of the fact that Urahara asked him What it felt like to be a shinigami again after 20 years...... and it would also seem that Ichigo's mom was a Shinigami..... atleast that's what i got out of their conversation.

ummmmmm... yes, that person was Captain Ukitake, but Kuchiki and Ukitake were referring to Shiba Kaien. Kaien and Ichigo bear a strong resemblence in both appearance and personality. That's why afterwards Kuchiki said that the person Ukitake was referring to (Kaien) bore no family relationship to Ichigo.

I think Ichigo's dad was a captain because when he appeared as a shinigami, he had a captains white jacket thingy slung over his shoulder. Not to mention when he said that captains have very high reatsu so they contain it in a smaller sword.

Personally, I think Ichigo's mom wasn't a shinigami. I don't think she really saw the girl when she died. She was probably just running to save little Ichigo.

Actually, that makes a lot of sense considering how much he clings to Masaki. (What with the huge poster and talking to it and all) But I think he might have lost his powers or something because he never destroyed any hollows except for the grand fisher(but that was later) and Ichigo & Karin never have never seen him in his shinigami form. I doubt he would've just left the 'destroying hollows' job to other shinigami because he decided to marry a normal human. He's not that wacko. xD And he would've saved his family all those times. So my theory is that he was banned or something.

well that is true and when he appeared is his shinigami didn't someone say that he finally recovered his powers so maybe that's why he stayed he had lost them and was in his physical form like Rukia to recover them.

If you remember what Rukia said to Ichigo when she was about to fight Grimmjow... she said she had gained her powers back by staying in soul Society. the reason she was able to get them back was becuase everything in sould society has Soul Particles in them... so if that is the case..... that would mean that he may have been banned... because if he was in the living world i doubt he would just all the sudden regain his powers... so basically i think banned him and then with the whole Arrancar thing they gave him back his powers. that's just my opinion yet again.

Wasen't maybe the releasing of the limitation by the all those captains and such the trigger? I thought one of them said that they would rather avoid that because they would have certain influences on the souls living there. Maybe they ment collatoral damage but maybe not. Now I'm not sure if that happend before or after Dad went slice and dicing, hmm

Wow, you've got a point didn't think of that...... I guess What ishida says in episode 14 helps bring that point to light.... so I agree with you...

Interessting. But I think after Ichigo became a Shinigami he didn't have much contact with his father anymore. During the day he was at school and in the evening he had to fight hollows.
If Shinigamis regain their power faster in the presence of a powerful Shinigami, then the most logical choice for a wounded Shinigami would be to return to SS and sit a few hours in Kenpachis bureau.

it's also possible that their last name is not actually Kurosaki. none of the soul society people excpt Rukia and i think Hanatarou have seen ichigo's dad. and there is no reason to believe they would have known him.

also, no one has mentioned, but in the bleach souls character book, there are pages about other levels of shinigami in SS, including a Royal Guard for the SS King. Many have theorized that Isshin was part of this group and therefore unknown to Rukia, Renji, Hana etc.

my personal belief is that he was not a captain, but he is captain level. Look at Rukia. She is supposedly officer level (probably VC) but she was low in rank due to strings pulled by Byakuya. Just because someone is as strong as a captain doesn't mean they become a captain. one need only look at Ikkaku and Ichigo to prove that.

No there isnt a separate timeline. Because when Ichigo and the gang went to started their training, and left for SS, it was during their summer break. When they went back to the Real World, their summer vacation was over.

SaraPandora27 you might have been thinking that Soul Societ is like the Digital World in Digimon, but time goes on in both worlds at the same pace.

Also, the whole 20 years thing means that 20 years ago Ichigo's dad used reitsu for the last time since his Grand Fisher Slaying. But as we know, people live for a VERY LONG time in soul society. Rukia is like a couple hundred years old. So Ichigo's dad is probably really really old then.

We all know that Ichigo is as powerful, or even more powerful, than most of the 13 Squad Captains, yet they Yamamato and the rest of the captains couldnt make Ichigo a Captain because he is not dead yet. It is possible that Ichigo's dad was just like Ichigo, he could have never been a full fledged Shinigami but instead be a substitute. Im sure that Ichigo has never been the only Substitute Shinigami ever. Why would Urahara and Rukia have that Cane and Glove (you know that one that they hit Ichigo with so that he becomes a Shinigami)? The "soul candy" was used by everyone in episode 133, and no one ever had to hit them selves with a glove or cane to become a shinigami. That leads me to the NEW conclusion that Ichigo's dad was also a substitute shinigami.

him and Ryuken seem to know each other fairly well, at least beyond what you'd expect of a regular shinigami and a quincy. They could have been like Ichigo and Ishida.
