Oh gee.
Why did they bring this End Card art here, it has nothing to do with the content. Spoiler for Episode 7 End-card:
The artist for this endcard just started a new series Houkago Sword Club in Bessatu Magazine (same mag as Shingeki) For a someone just debuting, the his skill is great. Shingeki artist endorsed him recently on his blog, so this may be a nice return of favor.

It isn't a bad place to end the episode, but damn, all of that filling. The 1th minute or so, a whole bunch of flashbacks to the past...
And the insert song as bad as the ones that appeared in the BETA anime... And so well, I thought it was a story about humans versus giants and the humans were at a disadvantage, but now a new type of giant appears that actually is on the human side. Well then this isn't as difficult of a fight than I thought! ...And Misaka... You fall from that height and swung around by blasts of air............. And you can still move?! I wouldn't be surprised if she lost half of her body and continued to live (like a cockroach or chicken?). And who the heck is that on the endcard? I think I recall that one guy (the one that's like ( -_-) ), but I don't think the other characters have been introduced.

Wow, at one point in time (halfway point I think), I really thought that Mikasa is going to become the new protagonist. But that abnormal Titan jumping out in front of her, and with those Mikasa's lines (thoughts rather) at the end of the episode (human's rage embodied in a titan?)........ hmm, I don't know what to say, so maybe I should just wait for the next episode

Mikasa knew without gas they where dead if they stayed there so she pulled them out of their despair and rallied the others to fight for their lives, only thing I can fault her for is giving in to her grief for a little although she pulled though it. |

Yet she charged ahead of the entire group after inspiring them to follow her, with full intention of dying. The only difference is Mikasa ended up getting saved, and the people who followed her were smart enough not to chase after her when she was in trouble. There also significantly less Titans in this situation. So lets see: Both Eren and Mikasa inspired a group of demotivated soldiers. Both charge ahead recklessly when they see/hear of a friend's death. Both get multiple people killed by charging ahead instead of staying with the group. The difference: Mikasa killed a couple of Titans, but burned all her fuel and basically gave up on fighting back until Eren's words got her moving again, and then she was bailed out of the situation by this Renegade Titan. Eren got ambushed by half a dozen titans and lost a leg for his screw-up, then saved Arwin and died in the process. sounds like Mikasa is just plain luckier then Eren, not to mention is effectively superhuman. I'm fairly certain it was a very intentional parallel made this episode. Mikasa and Eren effectively did the same thing in the same situation, but Mikasa gave into grief, while Eren gave into his rage.

No Eren didn't inspire anybody he blindly and stupidly rushed at that Titan and the others followed which to be frank they shouldn't they should have left the idiot to die, and why did he get ambushed oh ya thats right it's because he got pissed off and charged like an idiot.
And Connie and Armin went after Mikasa and left Jean in charge. Difference is. Eren was a muppet got himself killed. Mikasa group had no choice stay and die or fight for a chance to live. |

Eren spent the entire first half of that episode inspiring a bunch of guys who had given up before the fight had even started. He even stopped Mikasa from having a panic attack then and there.
Eren is the only reason any of the recruits even got as far as they did. Mikasa also went against orders to go to the front-line simply because she was worried about Eren, thus forcing herself into a fight or die situation, where she fully intended to die once she heard Eren had. Luck is the only thing that saved Mikasa, and the fact Eren's mentality was so strongly ingrained in her she acted on it subconsciously. Notice how Mikasa spent half the episode parroting Eren's words to people? It isn't because she was handling the situation well, it was because she is clinging to the only thing she had left, her memories of Eren. Heck, the end of the last episode even had Mikasa saying "as long as Eren is with me, I can do anything." There is also a good reason that Arwin scolded her for basically going off to die when she had effectively claimed responsibility of the lives of everyone there, what she did was technically even worse then what Eren had. I love Mikasa, she is my favorite character, but people will kiss the ground she walks on for doing the exact same they condemn Eren for, and that bugs me.

Gotta side with Fenrir valindri on this point. I understand some people might not like Eren but you have to give credit to him. And yeah, Mikasa didn't really do things that much differently. She's an awesome character but she has a ton of faults just like Eren does.

She even states at the end of this episode, that she rallied them for her own feelings, and wasn't even ready to take up responsibility for it. Of course Mikasa had the luxury of having regrets and correcting herself, since you know, she lived.

Thought the pacing could have been sped up a bit, as the dragging out of the battle kind of counters how grim and tense it all actually is.
Not much else to say. Like the previous episode, this thread is going to be a minefield for non-manga readers.
