There is no age confirmed , only speculation.

Like ganbaru said, there's only speculations about their ages and there's nothing official. One thing is sure though, it's that both Rika and Satoko are less than 10 year olds since Rika's age is always shown as one digit (X). As for Satoko, Keiichi said that it was hard to believe that she was the same age as Rika in Onikakushi-hen.

People assumed Rika was 9 year olds because of Himatsubushi-hen which takes place five years before the main story. If she was less than 9 in 1983 than she would have been extremely young in Himatsubushi-hen.

By the way, when is Rika's age shown being a single digit in 1983? The only hint I'm aware of is that Satoko's age is shown as a single digit in 1981, which could mean that Rika and Satoko might be up to 11 years old.

I've never seen it myself, I only saw it being mentioned a couple of times (once on this forum by theacefrehley) so I thought it was the case but with this TIP, I think this theory kinda falls apart because Satoko would have been 3 year olds when she called the Child Abuse Hotline if she was really 9 in 1983.

A have a question concerning Rika, and her "Ni-pah". Does that phrase have any literal translation, or is just "filler"?

It's an onomatopoeia for a big smile. Mii is an onomatopoeia for meowing. Rika generally likes saying sound effects (e.g. in the first episode of Tatarigoroshi-hen) when acting cute.

I... I just can't deal with this.

Have you watched the anime? Were you awake when watching it? There are hundreds of thread pages where it is very clearly stated and explained WHY THERE ARE NO PARASITES.

Aren't Hinamizawa Syndrome parasites?
Well, whatever. My bad.

Is it natural disease? Where did it come from anyway?

Watch the anime.
Read the forums if you don't get it. There is more than enough information out there.

For learning about the parasite/pathogene, I sugest the Higurashi spoiler Discution treat, the talks about it is quite long, and no definitive answer can really be found.

Hanyuu is an alien from the M31 star cluster that arrived in Hinamizawa when her spaceship malfunctioned and crashed into the Onigafuchi swamp a thousand years ago. Since then, she has been inadvertently emitting the parasite from her exposed armpits.

(The origin and nature of the syndrome's causal agent are never revealed.)

There's no reason to jump all over Mi-Delta. The anime is a mess, and they do spend a great deal of time saying it is parasites and searching for them.

The only thing I want to know is if Satoshi ever "returns". I've seen all of the anime, but have no idea if there is any form of Higurashi that gives us something beyond that.

It is implied than Satoshi came back at the end/after Miotsukushi-hen, the first picture on the credit at the end of the chapter.

That's why Hanyuu is also NOT an alien.
