Just replaced my iMac that had a POS screen (20" aluminum iMac) with a Mac Pro. Unfortunately still using the old LCD that I had connected to my PC. I'm going to wait a bit before buying a monitor since I just spent an assload of money on this machine.

=/ What'd they add/update this time? All I can tell is that the trashcan is no longer in the bottom bar, and (probably just me) but did they fix that thing where the taskbar button size was determined by the amount of text in the window name? That really bugged me.

The trash can being at the bottom is an Ubuntu choice. I moved it to the desktop myself, and since I was just upgrading, my configuration remained the same.

As for GNOME 2.20, there's been an overall improvement of its appearance. Things are smaller, more compact, which counts for a better look, and yes, they fixed the window listing--now each window button has a fixed width. Things are a bit snappier, and they reorganized the Themes/Fonts/3D effects (Compiz Fusion) under an "Appearance" tab, which is kind of cool. Font rendering is better. There are some minor improvements here and there, but each and everyone of them is really good, and so far I haven't found a single step in the wrong direction. And the new Clearlooks theme is just gorgeous. Now, if they only improved Nautilus a bit...

Ubuntu overall has updated most of the packages (and added AppArmor from openSUSE), but the biggest news is that it now includes Compiz-Fusion by preconfigured by default, which is a good thing for people that have headaches trying to make the stuff work.

I shun iChat because it can only connect to the AIM network or jabber. You can only have a single AIM account connected. If you have AIM, .Mac, and Jabber connected you get three buddy list windows. Weak. The only useful thing in iChat (at least in 10.4) is video chat but no one I know has a webcam so its pretty useless. Come to think of it I don't have a webcam now either

iChat in Leopard looks pretty sweet with the screen and document sharing. I think I'll still stick with Adium though since its prettier

Sweet, thanks for the info. I may have to go make me a external boot HD for it. Just I hope this one won't be as big a hassle as getting my old HP up and running in 7.04.

Yeah, most of the people I know with Macs have the built-in camera, but they don't use it either, and I agree Adium is a great program. Love the customization.
