You know, I think that Kirie is like the most realist character in the series. I mean, she is 14, so after being hurt, threatened, scared and feeling her own family members being damaged by the whole thing she can't help but having this bratty hate outbursts directed to the source of "the problem", the our lovely ghost neighbor Yuuko.
Thinking like that, seeing it back Kirie maybe did not really accepted Yuuko back then in the cultural festival arc, but rather just overcame some of her fears towards her. That puts her character in a new perspective and considering that the series is kinda lighthearted when it comes to human relationships, she'll probably get a point when she is going to mature an actually accept Yuuko for good. She probably would have opened up to Yuuko right away if it wasn't for her grandmother. BTW, I don't know if anyone has been keeping up with the anime site, but it has had some small updates here and there ever since it opened. Spoiler:
Looking better and better in comparison with the trailer. Okonogi and Momoe kinda look weird though (character page here). Spoiler:

Seriously, they don't act like kids in middle school and Yuuko looks like she died when she was in high school.

Teiichi noted the resemblance immediately after Kirie's introduction. It was around that time we learned Yuuko and Kirie are related. Later on Kirie is dressed up as a maid and wears a wig with long hair - like Yuuko - and cat-ears. Characters were going gaga over Kirie when that happened, and it was noted by several characters that Kirie's appearance to Yuuko is identical (save chest developments).

Anyway, the cover of the GanGan Joker issue really drives home how she could easily pass as Ririchyo's elder sister...

I agree that her black uniform suits her better, but not in the anime. I think the one she wore in chapter 1 is better suited when it comes to anime, it reminds me a lot of the uniform from Bakemonogatari.

Aaaahhh~ damn it, whyyyyee. Slow releases are so slooow, but yet, so agonizingly delish when they are. So Grandma can see Yami Yuuko...I don't know how messed up that is - she can't see the bright bubbly sister she had before, just the hatred and the loathing that had built up and festered.
And this art is just...lovely... ...and I feel so dirty for eyeballing her...

I'm happy Teiichi was more proactive and wouldn't let Yuuko run off again. On the other hand right after Yuuko got back to her normal state of mind she saw her sister and seems stunned, I'm hoping she doesn't go back into her depressed state.
Re: the grandmother, I'm suspect she can only see Shadow Yuuko because normal Yuuko completely doesn't meet her preconceptions of what her sister's ghost would be like while angry shadow Yuuko fits it to a tee. |
