This is the downside of speeding up the release. With previous chapters, we had to wait longer but quality was never an issue. Chapter 6 suffered a bit, especially episode 22. The upside of this is that we'll still be seing new stuff by October.

I'd say yes, they couldn't get the materials in time to get the bluray discs authored and replicated, now they can't even meet the theatrical deadline.

Can they tie everything up in the last four episodes?

I'm kinda concerned how they'll make it back to Earth in time...this time.

BTW. Anyone get their 2199 Earth materials book in?

How DID they do that in the original anyway?

We really need an episode to episode comparison between the old series and the new one for us Yamato neophytes. Yep.

The original took a single episode to get home as there was pretty much nothing in their way, so no "adventures" to be had or shown between Iscandar and Earth's Solar System.

As for time, as of the start of episode 23 they will have 210 days left until all life on Earth dies. Basically seven months to get home and they might have a map of the warp gates to reduce the trip in places.

I know the Japanese wikipedia page for Yamato 2199 has the episodes listed with their relative original equal also listed by episode numbers.

WHICH film adaptation? There are several, and some of them don't quite segue with each other (such is the Leijiverse).

Each has been at least a little different. The 1977 version that condensed the first series into a two or so hour film had a different ending than the series. They made a few minutes of new footage for the film that changed things around. (Also the Space Cruiser english dub is different from that)

Even the Voyager Entertainment VHS of that same film is different as it was cut together ina different way and only kept part of the different ending.

The Live Action film is even more different as it takes element of the second season at the film's climax.

I'll try to post some picks tomorrow. Got it last week. The book presents ultra detailed mechanical designs of the ships, craft and weapons. To me it is a great reminder of why I got into anime in the first place.

The overall plot layed in the official synopsis is more or less this:
Spoiler:

As for the EARTH book, i'm starting to get pissed off. I was "forced" to pay extra for EMS shipping because of size or weight restrictions and even so, all i get from the tracking number is that it was shipped internationally on August 6th. It's already the 13th and nothing else. WTF?! Guess the EXPRESS in Express Mail doesn't mean what it used too. >

On a more upbeat note, huge list of merchandise for chapter 7. And our first look at Starsha's palace.

The postcards are interesting this time.

Official swimsuits it looks like (male and female).
Fishing outfits.
A white Isandarian message pod.
A pair of things I can't identify.
The surviving Zultzi infultrator in a space suit.
And Kodai and Yuki in officer's coats sort of like what they have in later series.

The episode descriptions suggest a slight deviation from the original, but they have managed to be a few episodes ahead so far. Thus they have an episode to spare at this stage, allowing foe what appears to be two episodes to get back.

I hope we get to see what the Cosmo Reverse System does this time, as well as Yamato's actual return to Earth. It was implied at the end of the original, but the last thing we saw was Yamato's approach to Earth, followed by onscreen text about the day they arrived home and that a week later "the Earth was saved" followed by the red Earth returning to the blue planet we know and inhabit. Only in a later series did we get to see Yamato actually return to port with cheering crowds chanting its name...as a flashback.

Oh nice, I don't see the items actually added to the webstore yet... I might go for those postcards and the last item with Yamamoto in that odd pose, but I'll almost definitely try and get this set:

I know the quality has kind of dropped a hair in the last vol when it came to some characters. But this is unusual. I wonder if they are just trying to meet the deadline for the theatrical.

"part of episode of 25 will be removed from the screenings."

It probably has more to do with the possibility of a succeeding arc then quality in which they want to announce after the airing of ep.26 with a bang then some half a$$ mentioning within a dialog.

If Yamato is suppose to get into one more major scrape with the Gamilas fleet, than that might take a bit of effort for episode 25. I cannot be certain as this appears to be something new.

I don't even know where to begin except to say it makes my head hurt. After they decided to broadcast it on TV, they shortened the release intervals between the final chapters. For the final chapter they at first delayed the bluray, which indicates either some replication issue or production issue, but considering they've cut parts of an episode from the final screening as well, hints that not only they were unable to finish production in time to master and replicate the blurays to be on sale at the final screening, they also missed the theater screening deadline.
