Yeah. The whole "they can't get into Tenpai" thing is weird. It's not like the commentators remarked they discarded all the wrong tiles to get into Tenpai, so it's not hypnosis power (unless the hypnosis expands to covering all the tiles with some kind of illusion... that works for the cameras too...).

Merely knowing what the tiles are (like Saki) isn't enough. I guess the only way to pull that off is to actually control the composition of the walls at the start of each hand...

My bad, when I said

I was actually talking about Kana.

I admit that Koromo's ability is on the verge of silliness, but I don't think it more absurd than some others'. At least she can still win with normal way of playing.

And exhaustive draw is something that happened to me quite frequently.

Well, when Kana put down the 2 instead of the 8 manzi, her teammates were puzzled why she did that since she was playing differently than she usually did. Maybe there is something to the whole hypnosis theory?

I think that can be attributed to Kana being intimidated by Koromo and screwing up/going off strategy.

But that's one hand for one player. Doesn't explain the rest.

Actually, the anime somehow "hinted" that Koromo threw away that 7 man on purpose. First she observed Kana for a moment, then selected the 7 man, and when Kana declared pon, Koromo smirked.
There is no hypnosis as far as it goes, but her control "power" does affect her oppnents as well, not only the tiles.

Saki is imho now so scared by Koromo that she is barely using her "powers"

Touka really went down in my eyes as well

At first she was fun and amusing given her behavior and then the result of her match. But I totally rolled my eyes when she called Yumi and Saki teaming together futile

Even if you do know the composition, you'll also need the ability to predict exactly how you'll opponents will play. Since they constantly tried to keep her from getting the last tile....

Then again trying to make sense of this is rather

Oh my, how condescending

She does just sit there and keep everyone from getting tenpai. This "power" is basically a more haxed version of Jun's, except she doesn't even need to call anything.

That's not saying she can't do anything else, she obviously is capable of playing great mahjong and she showed it right away against Kana a hand later. Are we even watching the same show or are you just super defensive about koromo for whatever reason o_O

It's probably a little harder to judge based on Kana's actions. Since we know she lost to koromo a year before and it's probably reasonable to expect her to have some abnormal behavior when around koromo.

Touka's just arrogant and confident. It's part of her character.

Also, to be fair, no one is really challenging Koromo at the moment.

Absolutely. Touka is somewhat stereotypical ojou-sama and yet I really find myself liking her for some reason desu wa.

But the anime has also made light of that attitude in various ways, this time it was just

It...it is.

I mean, I *think* everyone can agree Yumi/Momo at least is canon.

When Momo glomps her before the final round, she says "Not here!" instead of something like "What are you doing?" and we know that she's just embarrassed about the public nature of her love declaration (), so... (plus that adorable date outfit tease)
And then there's Touka/Hajime...

If Koromo draws power from the full moon, then the only logical thing to happen (and by "logical," I mean "completely random and insane") is for there to be a lunar eclipse at just the right moment for Saki to unleash her full power on the winning hand.

Or there's always, ya know... _clouds_.

(but given this show's propensity for hyperbole, the eclipse seems like a possibility )

I'm sorry if I offended you. It's true that I'm being defensive about Koromo. It's just that your statement about her just sitting there and thing happened that put me off the wrong way.

Actually..wow, I never thought of it this way

Great great catch

Sorry if I didn't make it clear then. In all honesty, I am rooting against her somewhat and that probably contributed to the bluntness of my post without me realizing it

Honestly, I would love it if that happened

This thread needs more

Just a note of something that I thought of:

Koromo = The Moon (i.e. moon rabbits)

Teru = The Sun. "Teru" after all means "to shine on" (in a very bright way).

I suppose Saki herself would be the earth.
