I thought it was a little weird for the nurse girl to get so emotional and personal about a past she had only read about but I did like her story as well. The show's biggest strength is in its large, varied and likeable cast.
Did Hime get promoted to Major on top of being the Mayor and a high school student ?

I did like the focus on the rest of the cast besides Hime. A good chance to get Ao's perspective and frankly understand her more than just the satori who's brother's body has been highjacked.

Of course fit in to what seems to be the "sister" theme of this arc. Hime and Juri's relationship being sisterly being the major focus.

Whew, finally caught up...just in time for the titular arc. While these past episodes were nice, they certainly were lacking Ao. The first half of episode 10 took care of that and also added screentime for Midoriko aka super stacked green haired girl, sure sure provides nice eyecandy.

About Juri, I wasn't expecting her to have a backstory at all so the second half was a nice surprise.

I'm glad someone else picked it up after Cthuko somewhat collapses. This show deserves more recognition than most shows that are shown this year.

That seemed really random at first, but after checking out who were involved with Cthuko... well, there were a couple of notoriously uncooperative (to put it kindly) folks, that would again undermine the group's effort... plus so many complaints about small things don't help, fansubbers neither get paid, nor PR to trash criticism. I guess as a community by the end of the day we really deserve HorribleSubs, Commie and gg-trolls

Well I think there's always a balance needed. Excessive criticism doesn't help for keeping groups alive, but neither does ignoring all mistakes. After all at that point if there are serious problems you aren't much better off watching subs than watching the raws anyways.

Sucks they went down at this point.

There weren't any serious problems, but a lot of "fans" instead of offering any sort of constructive criticism are outright insulting people that want to contribute to the community. Add to that our community (as all) have a star system that promotes populism. And the final nail to the coffin is that we get "official" translations that protect their own translators and editors even when their work is far worse then "pirates" in order to sell free broadcasts... oh! and I forgot the huge gap between japanese and foreign fans, not because of the language, but culture. The former don't understand that in most places outside Japan fans don't have their option to watch anime for free on TV or online like they do in time to discuss, while the later are most of the time ignorant and insensitive to their culture, quick to ridicule them.

Anyway, I shouldn't rant about this too much it's off-topic, I wish another group picks up both Yozakura Quartet and Gatchaman Crowds, because even an average translation is way better than guesswork.

At least, they quit after the arc ended and the fans can watch the OVA which chronologically precedes the untranslated episodes. There is always the manga, though it is a different experience IMHO.

So the previous subbers disbanding was all one big joke huh? Nothing really much to say for this episode, though I hope they explain Lila a bit more, even though I wanna see some Akina/Enjin beat-down..

so seriously, was that just an actual meteor that hit her instead of those crazy supernatural lightnings?

Actually I think Lila never got hit by anything. In Juri's flashback of her funeral, she certainly doesn't look like she was hit by a meteor.

Having thought things through a little more, I think Lila faked her own death in order to get Juri to acknowledge her when she "came back to life" She then made a deal with Enjin to strike her and Juri when this happens. I assume she offered him to make her and Juri Yokai Hunters, although she simply wanted her and Juri to be "magicians" As she says, Lila was using Enjin instead.

Did sound like she just faked her own death as a step up in displaying her magic and "surprising" her sister. That girl seriously walked down the wrong path of magic and surprise. Stabbing yourself, branding yourself, and faking your own death is not happy and fun magic . That's scary and potentially traumatizing magic.

I guess by this point Lila thought the only way she and Juri could be on the same wavelength would be if they were both struck. Was a deal that worked for both her and Enjin at the time.

Suppose in the end she just literally became a full blown magician. When you think about it, that's not completely out there. I mean there's nothing normal about the powers of the Hiizumi clan. They are certainly human, just with extremely abnormal abilities. Lila's magic may just be another variant of human abilities.

Juri's strength gets pretty abnormal too despite her chalking it down to Aikido. If you've watched Hoshi no Umi you'll know she can arm wrestle both Hime and Touka at once and although skipped in the anime, she's capable of stopping a speeding car with one foot. That's some Aikido alright. Lila's magic is the most improbable of the human characters so far but still somewhat acceptable if you don't think too much about it.

Didn't the Oumyoudou guys said something about how Science and Magic are just two sides of the coin, it's just that human knows more about how science works than how magic functions?

perhaps Lila made her own breakthrough in studying magic

I never liked Lila's powers, even in the manga. Sure, Akina has supernatural powers too, but he can only do one thing, "tuning". Lila can conjure a huge sword out of nowhere, dismantle a house and make it fly. Her powers seem unbounded. I like her backstory but they should have made her a real half-youkai.

It's really hard to believe Lila is a normal human given the powers she has. She was even able to overpower Kotoha who is pretty hax in the first place. Even if it's science, it's still too OP.
