Does Funimation have plans to license the anime to the US? I was wondering...

If they feel it will make a profit, they'll release it. If not, then prob Section 23 will pick it up like they did with K-On!!. Either way the show is almost over, pretty bad timing on their part I'd say.

Looked like they were protecting their 'true" identities. Could they be arrested for this?

I don't think it's anything with legalities or any of that. This is what everyone does when they do these kinds of collabs. I dunno why, but they always cover their effin faces. But I'm surprised that some in that vid didn't. lol

For 5 episodes we were watching an exaggerated drama interrupted by some irrelevant and very short action scenes. Then we watch two episodes that use minor characters, altering the background already presented in order to have an overstretched connection between two different shows. And let's not forget the 1.5 episodes of totally irrelevant basketball captain subplot as well as that none of the staff have yet decided on what exactly happened in Yuu's childhood, they seem to pick each time whatever is more convenient

If these work for you, NP, they definitely don't for me. Good examples how to make such connections are the Twin Peaks episodes directed by Lynch or Lost Highway and Eraserhead by the same director. In anime, SE:Lain made the connection smoothly, as did (but less smoothly) .hack//LIMINALITY for .hack//SIGN.

IMHO, they just wanted to use the stellar character designs, but also appeal to a wider audience that wouldn't be captured just by them and thus we got the whole slice of life part. To make things worse they aired the show in a zone that originally aspired to appeal to OLs and controlled by hipsters

Now all these aside, there are certainly good points in the show, it's definitely not the worse I have seen this season, and at least it tried to pull out an interesting plot (albeit failing), rather than rehash something formulaic that most anime do these days. On the other hand using tried and tested structures makes a show easier to watch
A lot of the over-the-top situation we see in the show detracts from the over-the-top actions in the other world. It doesn't exactly complement each other and tries way to hard to compete for my attention with some ridiculous emotional garbage by being too overt about it. Having Kagari throw herself down the stairs, Yomi making all those rage faces, Saya crying to mind troll Kohata, Yuu screaming awkwardly in a sea of fire, or watching girls being mentally traumatized seems to be the wrong way to go about setting up the story.

Isn't that strange? One would think Strength would try to diffuse BRS powers by interacting with Mato about her "flaw" and try to fix it. She had plenty of time to do so, about 6 years in fact, but it did not seem to have worked out at all given out the situation became the worse-case-scenario.

I thought they just did it to conceal their identities from the internet. Certain things catch attention like wildfire on the internet, which some people would like to avoid.

Japanese internet performers often do that to protect themselves against unwanted attention (stalkers, crazy fangirls, haters, etc etc).

there was a 53 chorus video that was amazing. There's a 50+3 chorus that isn't the same, and the quality is noticeable inferior; same with the 50 singers chorus.

Though, Choucho's version is pretty damn good in my opinion

There's a nice piano-only version on SoundCloud (found via Tumblr):

Very Final Fantasy-esque (in a good way)

That was played in the final scene of the OVA. It's unfortunately too short :/

Honestly I don't see why they would have videos if they haven't licensed Black Rock Shooter for at least North America. Remember, Funimation is not Crunchyroll, they only have series up that they have the DVD/Blu-ray distribution rights to.

Well Mato's "flaw" really isn't a flaw. How do you fix someone to not try to go though life wanting to get along with everyone, and to help everyone? Honestly the best way to fix everything is to have Deadmaster teach Black Rock Shooter the wonders of Yuri! Then Black Rock Shooter mission to help everyone will consist of spreading feelings of love to the rest of the Other Selves.

Unintentional comedy at its best. When Yuu with Str in her heart started banging IBRS back and forth around the two sides of that cube she was standing on.... I couldn't help but cackle.
