Lots of easter eggs and references indeed, and no the Iron Giant doesn't count

This looks amazing. Hell yeah, double points for Kaneda's iconic bike.

Amazing director for an amazing book, the hype for this is unreal.

Let's start the list:

00:33 - Deathstroke and Harley Quinn
00:45 - Iron Giant
00:57 - Buzzard-riding knights of Joust
00:59 - Freddy Krueger and Duke Nukem
01:00 - MA5D rifle from Halo
01:11 - A-Team van and Christine car (Plymouth Fury)
01:34 - Motorbike from Akira, KITT from Knight Rider and Mad Max's Pursuit Special car
01:44 - DeLorean time machine

For the rest, you'll probably need to do a frame-by-frame analysis...

Dude, 2:19 and 2:24...........it better not be there just to be wasted like the G-Saviour’s appearance in Gundam Build Fighters.
How many copyrights and agreements did they have to work out to make this movie..........

Do they use the RG/MG 3.0 for the Gundam model or the (former) giant statue?

Really. I bought the book ~2 weeks ago and while I haven't gotten around to read it yet (thanks Shadowmarch series) this is quite the funny coincidence.

So, since the book has Ultraman in it and we don’t see it in the trailer, they might replace his role with something else. I mean, based on the trailer, there’s already a good possibility that they replace the (super niche) Leopardon in the book with Iron Giant. Given the situation, maybe Ultraman will be replaced too.

I'm surprised that they still include the RX-78-2 Gundam in the movie coz I assume American viewers are a lot more familiar with Wing Gundam just like Akira's red bike that's so popular in NA .

i thought the Ultraman not being included thing was due to a copyright dispute between Tsuburaya & Chaiyo on who holds the distribution rights of the first six Ultraman shows,
as of recent Tsuburaya won the case in court due to Chaiyo revealed to have used forged documents, sadly too late to re-include him back into the movie as production schedule.

I guess it worked out for the best then.

EDIT: Stupid, weird auto-correction......

What is with that weird all female bit? I bet that is the only few seconds of them we see to get extra butts in the seat.

I'll wait for reviews and a week before I see it. I'm getting really really bad vibes of "LOOK AT THIS THING, REMEMBER IT!? ITS IN OUR MOVIE!" and "Females are gamers too!" I swear to god If i see that line in it I will not be seeing it. We dont need that crap dangled in our face like a carrot on a stick. Just put it in the movie and shut up about it. I'm so ready for them to put in cool females WITHOUT slapping it in the face like "Starring Dante from DMC!"

Money, money, money.

When your name is Steven Spielberg, nothing is impossible. I'm sure the various brands are more than happy to have good old Steven depicting them in a single movie.

Also keep in mind that this is the guy who, thirty years ago, executive produced Who Framed Roger Rabbit, a film that is basically the "Ready Player One" of 1940's theatrical cartoons.
